So far so good, still bright, still warm, still dry. There is rain or showers forecast for early evening, but as I post its all good so far. -
Edinburgh V Berwick (ko-cup-2nd Leg) 25/7/14 @ 7.30pm
screm replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
As you say all of the Berwick riders should have done enough laps round Edinburgh by now to be able to work the place out, at least as professional sportsman you would've thought that would be the case, what makes it worse is we have two ex-Edinburgh riders in our team. The Berwick riders need to get their heads around Armadale, no one expects us to go up there and win but its not much to ask that we put on better showings than last night......is it. -

Most fans know that either with Cook or King, or anyone else for that matter Team GB have little or no chance in winning the meeting tonight, and virtually no hope whatsoever of making the Final. -

Another gloriously sunny start to the day, forecast for later is a bit iffy. First half of the day will be warm and sunny, second half will still be warm but there is a threat of showers for late afternoon into early evening. Berwick should have far to much for Rye House tonight, however there`s one or two riders in the Rockets line up that should at least give us some decent racing. Berwick 52 Rye House 40. Going out to Edinburgh last night wasn't exactly a shock, going out on the wrong end of a humping giving our record round Armadale was no less of a shock. What was a shock, and totally unacceptable, was the meek surrender and performance given by the Berwick team, it appears that they were beaten before a wheel was turned. One can only hope that this isn't laughed off, or we aren't subjected to the usual humorous comments from our presenter tonight on the debacle last night, the few fans who were there and spend good money in getting there deserve better IMO. Time will tell. -

No no come on, Doolans doing really well, and Harrison is coming to us after scoring big last time out, and Carr can get round Armadale. -

Berwick just cant get round Armadale. In what way is Doolan going really well, his average has declined since the start of the season, currently sitting nearly a full point lower. His scoring over the last couple or three meetings has been decent, but one swallow doth not a summer make. -

That's pathetic, but oh so typical. -

Lets hope there`s not to much sun at Kings Lynn tomorrow night. -

Only some Berwick fans are paranoid, others see Edinburgh for what they are, a top PL speedway team and all credit to them. -
One or two un-savoury characters going there this year, and with a bit of luck they wont read this.

Excellent result for Berwick, will it be enough for the 2nd leg, no probably not but with the kind of form Edinburgh have been in this season any victory over them is a good one. I`m surprised people are surprised over Kus, he was never going to be at Edinburgh on Friday. As soon as these dates were arranged Berwick and Edinburgh for that matter would've known there was a fixture clash and that the one in Czech would take priority, its not like Kus turned up at Shielfield last night and announced for the first time he couldn't make it on Friday. Berwick have known for a while they would be Kusless on Friday and should've announced it before last night. Mr Barrie always has plenty to say, I will leave for others to decide if any of it is worth listening to.

I stayed at Hotel Assenzio, and would again, hotel was clean, staff were very helpful, room was basic but perfectly good, breakfasts were spectacular, only problem is we seemed to have the only room on the ground floor and had traffic noise all night. So if I return to this hotel its safe to say I wont be wanting room 14.

Its pretty certain I will go to another GP abroad next year, Prague is very high on the list as I really enjoyed this year. I would book the same hotel but not the same room.

Cook will need to make a few decisions at the end of the season, if he wants to further his career and become the best rider he can be he needs to move away from the PL and get into Poland and/or Sweden. If he wants to pick up relatively easy money for the next few years then he continue in the PL for Edinburgh and have a doubling up team in the EL. -

Agree with you. From the first time I saw Pedersen racing in an early season challenge meeting at Berwick you could see he was a talent, and has gone on to realise that talent. Nicki is box office, even if its for the wrong reasons at times, and speedway will be the poorer when he calls it a day. -

Glasgow may have missed out on Bellego as an asset but from what I`ve seen young Berge has something about him and could be easily as good as Bellego. -

Newcastle are more than a decent team round their own track, and as last night showed have plenty race winners in their team. -

Just Berwick`s luck that Berge returns for this one, as you say he could be Glasgow's match winner. Aye your right there. -

Vissing may well have aggravated his knee injury when falling in his third ride as he was well out of sorts for his last ride. Doolan has had his critics of late but he rode well last night, hopefully the new bits on his bike are doing the trick. IMO Berwick can be proud of their efforts last night, maybe more race wins was needed, but all they played their part in a good night speedway, though looking at some other social media I`m wondering if I was at Newcastle last night. -

Decent nights racing in a meeting that had everything, falls, controversy and some good racing. Berwick were well in this meeting, and could probably have pinched a point or two but seemed to run out of steam towards the later races. Doolan and Kus were good for Berwick, Jensen and Wethers were ok and Carr deserved more for his efforts, however Berwick were let down by their no1 Vissing who sadly had his worst night of the season so far. Lack of race winners were Berwicks un-doing but they can be proud of their efforts. King and Kerr were excellent for Newcastle, turning point for Newcastle was after having two poor outings Lindgren then went undefeated in his last two rides which went along way to open a gap in the scores. Highlight of the night IMO was a Berwick fan who decided to walk up to the pits to throw a load of bile at Simon Nielsen, after making a bit of a testical of himself beat a hasty retreat. -

Try telling that to a number of Berwick fans over on the Newcastle v Berwick thread, they have a similar situation with Bellego.
