  1. I`m confident Berwick can shock the speedway World and grab a point. Though I may want to have a re-think.
  2. All well and good, but like it or not, Dudek has taking something illegal, there cant be degrees of wrongness in this.
  3. I`m sure that every rider will be tucked up in bed, and on their best behaviour the night before Gorzow.
  4. If NKI has evidence of wrong doing of any kind, IMO he has a duty to report it.
  5. Maybe this is it, it is taken from Eastern Daily Press. I really don’t want to go into that incident too much but I’m sure it may serve as a bit of a wake-up call for everyone. Mind you, for me, it isn’t actually booze that the authorities need to worry about. At every GP three or four riders are selected at random to give a breath sample. I’ve been selected a few times. I’ve got no problem with being selected. However, I don’t think anybody turns up intentionally looking to ride while they’re drunk. Sometimes people can go off the rails, or have one too many, and they have to face the consequences when they do that – especially if the alcohol isn’t out of their system. It’s no different to having five pints, getting in the car and driving, and being stopped by the police that night or the following morning. Whether you like it or not you’re going to get nicked. But in my opinion there certainly isn’t a huge culture of drinking in our sport. I hardly drink. I very rarely used to have a couple of beers the night before when I was a bit younger, when you go out a bit more, but not now. I put everything into my family and racing. For me, I think the way forward though is to start testing more riders for drugs. You have sticks that you can urinate on and they can tell if you’re under the influence of any narcotics, like cocaine. Speedway isn’t cycling. There isn’t a need to clamp down on performance-enhancing drugs as you don’t need those to ride a bike with an engine. You need a clear head and to be able to concentrate. But some drugs can help get rid of fear. They can make someone go for the smaller gaps and ride quicker. It’s those drugs that can be a benefit on the track and they are what need to be stopped. To put it simply, anyone taking drugs needs to be caught as the sport is dangerous enough as it is. I’ve been tested by anti-doping agencies while riding in the Polish league. But sometimes people can get caught out with things like supplements and such. Patryk Dudek has been suspended after testing positive for a banned substance. However, some have said the sample contained stuff that is found in a diet supplement. If that’s the case, I feel sorry for him. Accidents can happen with things like that – a lot of people take supplements, I drink protein shakes – but if you’re taking cocaine, or drinking alcohol, you know what you’re doing to yourself. I don’t think a punishment for failing a doping test should be more severe than failing a drink or drug one either.
  6. Riding in the World Under-21 Championships in Slangerup possibly.
  7. I am sure the promotion will do everything possibly to get all thirty heats done and dusted by nine thirty, especially when they are asking people to pay £19.
  8. Latest from the Edinburgh Official site. Berwick Bandits will arrive at Armadale tonight determined to improve on recent form round the Scotwaste Arena and pick up at least one league point. The charge for the top spot in the league race and thus the first choice of play off opponent is very much a three horse race with Scotwaste Monarchs, the Bandits and Somerset desperate for very league point available. Form team Ipswich could join the leading group if the pull off a shock win at Somerset tonight. However, it is the Bandits who fancy their chances of top spot with some winnable away matches to come. Scotwaste Monarchs have had an illness worry all week over team captain Derek Sneddon. He was stung on the cheek by a wasp at the beginning of the week and suffered a severe allergic reaction that saw his face blow up like a balloon. Despite treatment at his local hospital Derek was very doubtful about his ability to ride yesterday morning. However, the swelling has now subsided a little and at Friday lunchtime Derek said, "My face is still far from pretty but a lot better than last night. I'm good to go." Good news indeed for the team. Scotwaste Monarchs resident mountaineer, Geoff Craythorne, will be at the stadium gates tonight to answer any questions about the Ben Nevis climb, now rescheduled for 20th September, and will be taking names of anyone who wishes to join one of the riders climbing teams
  9. If he rides like he did last week there`s ever possibility, though I`m sure Kennett for one will have something to say about that.
  10. If there is no breaks, that at least is a bit of good news, though injuring ligaments and tendons can be just as messy.
  11. We had all this covered for our recent Sky meeting, and on that night thankfully there were two paramedics on hand after the incident for Wethers and Fox, I`m sure they will do the same for tomorrows action, all eventualities will be covered. I expect the track to be a bit on the slick side for the Newcastle match.
  12. I`m sure Berwick will have everything in place to ensure that if at all possible all 30 races will be completed.
  13. Forecast tomorrow is for a dry morning, the afternoon will be mostly dry but there will be scattered showers about from late afternoon onwards but if the luck is with us the majority of them will miss Berwick. Its going to be chilly so it might be time to dust off that old Berwick hat and scarf.
  14. Looking at reports Carr was taken to hospital with a suspected broken femur, hopefully this wont be confirmed and he will be back racing sooner rather than later.
  15. I expect poor old Crescent Girl will explode with all these rumours.
  16. Does it matter if the banned substance enhanced his performance, maybe that is a matter for the FIM and their doping offences list, what is undeniable is, as the rules stand at present, Dudek has failed a A and B sample taken at a meeting. I agree that if, as it seems, it is a genuine mistake, then he should be dealt with leniently, but Dudek as with Ward has to be judged as the rules stand now.
  17. As with Tourettes, we don't like rumour on Berwick threads, and again you should know better. I expect your rumour will be confirmed via newsletter later tonight. If Harkins is guesting, are you saying there has been another call off, at this rate the meeting is falling into the hands of Edinburgh.
  18. Yes, that's fair enough, but as a professional athlete he is surely and solely responsible for what goes into his body, and I`m sure, whether it be his club, his advisors or the rider himself, there will be a list of banned substances freely available.
  19. Agreed but the poster said the majority, that's seven at least and to be honest I`m struggling to get a majority.
  20. Of that list who do you thing that Garrity is on a par with.
  21. Statement Patrick Dudek: Ladies And Gentlemen, In view of the letter received from the Commission to the fight against doping in sport on anti-doping test result, as well as comments on this topic, I made the decision to deposit a short statement containing my position in the present case. First we declare that he had never knowingly used not doping. The fact of the matter is that my body has been detected illegal means, belonging to the Group of stimulants. However, once again I emphasize that it was not in my body as a result of my intentional action. In my assessment of the illegal substance she could find in my body as a result of reported me baby foods. Secondly, I would like to point out that all my previous career he played always focused on what should focus a real player-on training and startup. It was and still is the sense of my sporting life. All the "rest" I left working with me people. Only my fault is the fact that, in a way completely trusted me and I controlled myself around people not what I made. Thirdly, recent days have given me a lot to think about how fragile sports career and how it is very easy to destroy man and everything why devoted the lion's share of your life. However, I can not and do not want to let my ignorance, user inexperience and faith in people was all that what I've been aiming and why I gave to the rest of the. I hope that it will be given to me to explain all this matter in a fair and I will continue to win medals for the country and the fans. Patryk Dudek Translation might be a bit ropey but this is Dudek`s side of the argument.
  22. Just had a PM from Crescent Girl myself, but having never had a warning on this forum I dare not post it. Thought Pedersen could do a job, but Makovsky is an adequate replacement, lets hope there are no other call offs. I take this will all be confirmed via the clubs newsletter, let there be no rumours here.
  23. Please, please don't join the serious crew, we have more than enough on the Berwick threads.
  24. I agree with you, though Wards club in Poland have been non to happy about Wards partying the night before meetings for some time now, I think its fair to say Ward has been lucky not to caught before now, but caught he has been and what ever the reasons or excuses are he must face up to his actions.
