  1. Gollob has been a fantastic GP rider, but on current form, or at least form from last season, does he actually deserve a wild card pick.
  2. Currently at PL level it has to be Craig Cook, from yesteryear I would go with Joe Owen and/or Mark Courtney.
  3. You`ve got to many insecurities so thought a bit of attention seeking would see you look more important. Reducing the time where possible, and get an extended time for a junior meeting and/or practice gets my vote. To many times we are sitting with no bikes on track, no track work being carried out, and no, it seems, reason why we cant get on with the action. That would be down to the referee in most cases, and its a problem speedway wide and not just Berwick but it does seem that when there`s a will to do it we can.
  4. I`ve no doubt this time next we will have a statement saying the future of speedway has been sorted and the futures bright, thing is this time next year we will all be posting about the same problems we are now.
  5. Watt put on Twitter the other day that he would be interested in a PL place with a view to doubling up, clearly a sign that even he knows his best days are behind him now.
  6. Peterborough is indeed a nice place, and I look forward to going back next season, but top football team.......
  7. Season just gone was more enjoyable and more entertaining than 2013 IMO, there were times when I left in the 2013 that I wondered whether to bother the following week, the racing was so poor and not value for money. For the most part this season was better, at least it justified the entry money and I was looking forward to going back the next week, maybe having a competitive team helped. Have your practice meetings during March, April 1 to August 31 for PL meetings and KOC, if your team doesn't qualify for the play-offs then your season is ending in August, September will be for play-offs and KOC Final. Bring back qualifiers for 4TT Finals day at Peterborough, teams should only get a facility for SWC and/or SGP, after that tough luck.
  8. Danny King on a sub 9pt average seems an attractive signing to me, whether that be for Ipswich or somebody else.
  9. And there in lies the problem, what business out there has the money to hand out in the way of sponsorship to support a speedway team. The second question any business would ask is what can sponsoring Berwick Speedway do for my business.
  10. How true, yet absolutely nothing about the clubs financial plight or search for a team sponsor for next season.
  11. Giving the financial state of the club, as described in this weeks Speedway Star, and potentially going through the winter without finding a team sponsor, its might be difficult to see any team being at Berwick next season.
  12. No news letter on the subject yet but Berwick are on the look out for a new team sponsor next season.
  13. Taken from Glasgow's Twitter feed. Given its obvious significance, and with copy programmes containing this information now in circulation, we wish to publish in full the following message from club owner Gordon Pairman. As previously indicated we hope to be in a position to make a further announcement very soon and in doing so begin to answers some of the many questions which supporters will be keen to raise. The following is Gordon’s ‘Thoughts From Abroad’ column contained within programme dated 26th October 2014 (Vs Workington & Berwick): “It’s the end of the season and, unless something extraordinary happens, it’s also the end of my ownership of the mighty Glasgow Tigers. Indeed, that might even have happened before you read this. It has been an honour to be directly associated with the team for the last decade or so, and to have played a part, no matter how small, in keeping speedway afloat in Glasgow for even longer. But all things have a lifespan and so it is time to hand over to others. And, if the plans for the Tigers come to fruition, then the future looks amazing. The existence of the Tigers owes everything to the supporters, of course, as, without you, there would be no point in anyone keeping things going. So I would like to thank all of you, those loyal to the team over many decades and those who have only recently discovered the passion, the excitement and sometimes the heartbreak of being a Glasgow supporter. There have been good times, and great times and, well, who cares about the bad ones, as we are the Tigers! Because of the changes, this may well also be my last programme piece so also the last chance for me to get on my soapbox. 2014 has been disappointing for us, there’s no doubt and that’s sadly because too many riders have underperformed. When you contract a rider, a given is that they will turn up with decent equipment, but that hasn’t happened this year as far as at least three of our riders are concerned. And I think that is just cheating – they cheat you and they cheat me. When riders don’t have decent bikes, they underperform, and when we lose meetings, our crowds go down, so our cash reduces, so our ability to pay riders becomes difficult. And yet these riders, the ones whose performances have caused our financial difficulties, start to bleat on about delays in payments. Where do they expect the money to come from? (you don’t need to answer, my bank balance tells me all too clearly) I know of no other business that employs people to cost it money, but that’s how speedway can be at times. We’ve had some successes this year – for me, Rusty and Kasper have been the standouts – but the rest of the team fall under the category of “could do better”. Had there been a replacement number one available in May, I would have happily found the money to make the change. But then, for reasons, never discussed with me, let alone explained to me, we let Mark Lemon go, just as he was finding his feet and brought in Christian Henry who seems to spend more time off his feet and on his backside. So any spare cash was used up on that move. I am a firm believer that team changes should only be made when you are forced into them as it is rare that they strengthen a team. You only need to look at Newcastle this year for evidence – in came Danny King and out went any chance of success. But then, I am also a believer that, for a team to succeed, on the track and in the bank account, it needs local ownership and leadership, and, as that is something I cannot do, it is definitely time for a change. So farewell then and thanks to you the supporters, to the invaluable sponsors, especially Allied Vehicles who have been absolutely superb and also Joe Scott of Western Commercial who continues to bang the Tiger’s drum, to the directors, and the volunteers, to the senior promoter Alan Dick and to team manager and track guru Stewart “Jose” Dickson. And last, but definitely not least, to the programme compiler, David Walker, who has given me the freedom to have a darn good moan every week. Thanks to all and “Mon the Tigers!”
  14. Agreed though if the extra time taken ensures Ward a fair and just hearing then it will be worth while.
  15. Your probably right though I agree with Fromafar as far as Dolan is concerned, nice guy but if we are to progress from this season we have to let Doolan go and Wethers to IMO. Edberg is a bit different, club asset and on an average that would see him start as reserve, also with Alex in the team there is always the chance the club would be helped out in other ways.
  16. Its taken 120+ pages but this is the perfect post regarding this issue.
  17. I think the BSPA are on the right track with the fast track system, but have made a mistake in its practice. NL riders should've been reserves for PL teams, with the younger GB riders taking up reserve positions in the EL.
  18. Why not go the whole hog and bring back the 4TT Qualifiers for Finals day at Peterborough.
  19. Congratulations to Matej Kus who has been named as Berwick speedway fans rider of the year, well deserved.
  20. Fantastic way to go out, happy retirement Derek Sneddon.
  21. If your going to win a PL title then getting a 5-1 in a Ht15 seems the perfect way to do it, all credit to Edinburgh for the season they have had, they are the best team in the PL and are deservedly PL Champs. Congratulations.
  22. Sadly no, instead they have chosen a game of football between Real Madrid and Barcelona, both up and coming teams it seems.
  23. Officially its a Play-off match, but after both teams were eliminated both promotions agreed to tag on this Border Trophy, to add some excitement.
  24. Somerset need to get off to a decent start, if there 4-6pts down at half way the home side might just panic and start chucking away silly points.
