Wouldn't want to go back to Waite`s days, always look forward, however there is no doubt that Waite on occasion could pick a rider up from virtually nowhere and get the best out of that rider, before moving him on, also didn't suffer failing riders. Like I say no point in looking to by gone days other than to learn lessons from, we have a team to complete and a PL season to compete in.
-
So once Allen gets a true average, and Berwick look to make a change, Allen would stay in the team leaving another rider to pay with his job because of the under scoring Allen.
-
Going to Berwick isn't like lurching back in time, anyway isn't travelling part and parcel of being a speedway rider, for example Steve Worrall seemed to cope with all the Cradley, Swindon and Edinburgh meetings.
-
While you may be right, and I don't want any rider missing meetings, the attraction of signing the likes of Krcmar is that we could have a valuable asset on the books.
-
Your right I was just chucking names about, Franc is making a decent fist of things in the Longtrack GP`s so for him to give that up to fulfil all Berwick`s meetings is a non-starter I am afraid, but we need a rider with Franc`s scoring potential in the reserve position IMO.
-
If Allen is signed on a seven it would be unrealistic to expect him to ride to that average, therefore at least one and probably two riders would need to make up any loss in averages with Allen, and a high scoring reserve would be an ideal rider, something similar to what Jensen did in the early part of last season and Kus after. Thing is I don't see that rider being Alex Edberg so we might to look at someone like Adam Ellis or if it were possible to get him to start at reserve and Longtrack meetings allowing Josef Franc.
-
Going down the No1 route is fine, if you have one and probably two of the best reserves around, that is where they went wrong when putting that kind of team together. Last season the strength in depth approach worked, hopefully they will stick to what works, time will tell.
-
Not any more.
-
I am sure that would be the hope, but the likes of Fricke doesn't come along to often.
-
Can Berwick wait till then, and can any potential signing be keen to wait till then and risk being left on the side-lines should young Allen be assessed as a 7pt rider and face not getting a club. Don't know why we have to wait, seems fairly clear to me that all new Aussie riders are an assessed 7pt average.
-
Suffered a serious knee injury while racing at Sheffield towards the end of last season, its unlikely he will be racing anytime during 2015.
-
Bringing a new asset to the club is an obvious attraction, and signing Allen does make sense though it would be an idea if Berwick had at least one and preferably two dominant reserve so at least if Allen struggles while getting his true average the team doesn't suffer. Talented he may be but a 7pt PL rider is asking a lot.
-
Haven't seen the name of Robin Aspegren mentioned yet, maybe he could make a return to Berwick.
-
Whether it be on a five or a seven the kid still has the same ability, and we need new assets. Maybe we should've been bringing in a new asset or two each year over the last season or two, but of course hindsight is a wonderful thing.
-
Massive gamble to sign a rider with his experience of racing over here, but we need new assets, so it might be an idea to sign him and at least one other new asset and let them get true averages before making a change or two before the PL gets into full swing. Thing is if the team starts losing at home during that time its bound to have a detrimental affect on an already dwindling crowd.
-
Just to be clear, and facts straighter than a straight thing Nico Covatti was born in Coronal Pringles in Argentina. Who he rides for in SWC, or what license he rides on is just pure choice or coincidence.
-
Would Edinburgh look at the likes of Claus Vissing for their team next year, former rider and during the season over here lives locally.
-
Now that Fricke wont be returning to Edinburgh for next year, will the 2015 team come together sooner rather than later.
-
No bother, thanks for all your efforts. Fine with me.
-
I get that, though I would've signed him as it seems that Berwick were keen to as well, Kus IMO is a confidence rider, came into 2014 with his confidence low then we all saw the difference a few big scores made once he dropped to reserve admittedly. Maybe he will keep that up in 2015, if he does Redcar have a cracking signing, if he doesn't he might end up back at Berwick in 2016 on a reduced average.
-
For those that haven't seen it, there is a short video interview with Dave and Ricky Ashworth over on the BSPA site, don't know how to post a link but if someone can I would be grateful. Good to see Ricky looking so well.
-
Whatever the rights and wrongs, the ins and out of the situation, Matej Kus has signed for Redcar and Berwick need to move on and sign a team capable of carrying on from a successful 2014.
-
It has gone a bit quiet, hopefully Santa will bring one or two presents soon.
-
If Doolan was 3rd heat leader behind Barker and Vissing for example the as long as he road to his average then that would be more than adequate IMO. Nothing against Doolan but if we have a fraction under seven points to spend then I hope we add that little bit extra and bring in a new asset, maybe its time to start building an asset base where in future years we don't get the Kus episode happening again.

What has distance got to do with it, Ben Barker is hardly local.
