  1. Spot on, he has the talent to be as good as he wants to be without being compared to any other rider, good as Tai is.
  2. The very real prospect of Berwick closing could have a real impact on local riders like Leon Flint who are at the start of their careers as the closest track would be Newcastle.
  3. I have a sneaky suspicion you may well be right, especially have spent around £1-5m buying the stadium and investing in Glasgow Speedway, though it seems on a raceday they are on the way to breaking even and there probably not that many teams that can say that.
  4. I take your point, my reply was pointing out it would've been difficult for the club to get Saturday`s team news out as there were late injuries to riders of each team. As for the forum fannies, its mainly only one person from the club, neither owner nor promoter, who uses that term. But they don't use this forum so we are ok.
  5. Well done to Newcastle Speedway for getting the best out of Tero Aarnio, probably wont be a PL No1 but very capable of doing his average and chipping in with useful points.
  6. Not quite true, last weeks news letter carried news of the teams that at the time of writing would be expected to be at Shielfield for the Somerset meeting. Remember Kevin Doolan`s inclusion last Saturday was iffy after crashing the previous week against Sheffield and missing the away trips to Ipswich and Scunthorpe, then Somerset lost Grajzonek and Berwick lost Thornblom in meetings on Friday night, though the teams were posted on Facebook during Saturday afternoon, which was also posted on here.
  7. This has been a thorny subject on here at times, but your right the promotion of speedway at Berwick at times isn't very good. Look at way the new Glasgow promotion have promoted their product, brilliant, now they are getting crowds three or four times that they are getting at Berwick, yes there`s a larger catchment area but its all relative, better promotion might get an extra hundred or so more through the gates and that extra hundred could be the difference between having speedway next year than not. It some ways it would appear some at the club have all but given up. Obviously we have Liam living in Berwick, but we also have Garcia living in the town to, might be an idea of getting young Leom Flint involved to, that might help getting youngsters of Leon`s age there.
  8. Really enjoyed watching Starke when he was with Berwick, certainly seems to have kicked on at Somerset so all credit to him.
  9. Quite a weekend for the Rebels, taken 7pts from three away meetings, and a normally dependable Josh Grajzonek having to sit out one of the meetings.

  11. To be honest given some of Edbergs performances this season he shouldve been dropped many weeks ago, doesn't seem to be comfortable on the track at times and seems low on confidence, though on the plus side he did complete all his rides last night.
  12. Fair enough, though that still doesn't change the fact that Hollub is an assessed averaged rider. And that`s one of the problems that speedway has, rules are there to be interpreted and not enforced.
  13. Nothing announced on Berwick`s website or on the clubs news letter, and certainly nothing announced last night at Berwick`s humping from Somerset.
  14. I posted that yesterday, if the Klindt guesting was illegal you`d think Berwick at least would've protested as they were the opposition on the night.
  15. What`s up with Jensen, completed the meeting at Berwick last night without any accidents and rode well.
  16. And unless there`s a knight out there, or the current promotion/owners have a change of heart I think we are at that point now.
  17. Barkers injury diagnoses and the length of absence from the rider himself was that season was over, at the point, and armed with that information it seems Berwick handed back his registration to Coventry. Thankfully Barker recovered quicker than expected and obviously declared himself fit to return and as his registration was back with his parent club, and they couldn't or didn't want him in their team he was free to sign for anyone, which he did with Peterborough.
  18. You don't think the Facennas would like to get involved with Berwick. We can hope.
  19. I`d love to argue with you, but there seems to be a resignation from fans and promotion that this is the end, obviously I hope I`m wrong.
  20. It seems clear that Scunthorpe did have an illegal guest for Hollub last Friday, but when you look at subsections of the rule or the old in the interests of speedway it seems to create a grey area. Like many rules governing our sport there needs to be clarity so that everyone understands.
  21. One or two around me were saying g last night that they won't be back, and before anyone suggests it I don't believe they are attention seeking. Rumours of unrest behind the scenes.
  22. It was always likely that Berwick would be turned over big time at home at some stage and Somerset certainly delivered that last night and as has already been said the gulf in class was shockingly big. Only three heat advantages, four heat winners and most alarmingly only two points from reserve all contributed to the defeat, I am sure Alex Edberg will come in for criticism, and quite rightly to, but his reserve partner was equally poor, and all this from a World Champion. If the rumours are true of a points reduction for next years team building then perversely Richard Hall could be quite an attractive signing on his current average which is likely to fall still further by the end of the season. Berwick`s season really is dying out with a bit of a whimper, maybe its quite prophetic that next week sees the dvd going on sale that categories the memories of Berwick Speedway and giving the clubs current situation memories is all we will have.
  23. You would think the Berwick promotion would've known that last night and protested, and can be sure it would've been announced had they done so. Maybe it comes under "in the best interests of speedway" category, where it seems anything goes.
