  1. To be fair to Mr Barrie, when there`s nothing happening, his job is to fill the gaps, and lets face it nobody fills dead air better than Mt Barrie.
  2. Obviously there are natural breaks, track grading, extra time when a rider has two rides in a spin etc, but even these could and should be kept to a minimum.
  3. Looks like that Berwick, along with one or two other clubs, will need to declare their intention ahead of the AGM deadline of October 17th.
  4. Agree, I`d be amazed if she has ever heard of Tai Woffinden, though to be fair to her she has lost all her local tracks and would have to get over to Lakeside of a Friday night to see some speedway, and the traffic will be abysmal.
  5. I think pushing a meeting through quicker, when possible, keeps the interest and attention, obviously that`s down to the on night referee but there`s to many times we are sat on a Saturday night with an empty track for no apparent reason. Also it would give the club to have a proper second half for younger riders.
  6. I am sure a SGP going back to Australia will be reason enough to make this meeting a fantastic occasion.
  7. Looks like I am the only Berwick fan not to be in Torun, every time the cameras went onto the crowd I saw someone I knew. Might have to get my back side track side next year.
  8. Wow Pedersen and Doyle down the back straight, incredible.
  9. I have criticized Woffinden in the past when doing interviews, but that was incredible words and incredible sentiment, Woffinden is indeed a worthy Champion.
  10. Heat 13 reminded me of watching Doctor Who when I was a kid, as I watched most of it from behind a cushion.
  11. Lots of good racing, and great to see Nicki back up to speed.
  12. Fair enough suggestion, though when this has been tried at Berwick before, Shielfield has been busting at the seems, then the following week we get back to the normal crowd. Look what happened when the club reduced admission, and introduced kids go free, lots of free kids but no noticeable increase in paying adults.
  13. Piotr Pawlicki comes into tonights SGP for the injured Przedpelski.
  14. Reading other threads it appears that changes to rules and make up of all three leagues are at least on the cards, how many actually happen remains to be seen but IMO there needs to be significant rule changes for the betterment of everyone, sadly I doubt see those kinds of changes happening. Agree about advertising, getting new fans along is great, obviously, but it seems Berwick`s problem, and other tracks is keeping their existing customers coming week in week out.
  15. Just be thankful your team was good enough to qualify for the 4TT Final.
  16. Obviously this weeks news that Redcar & Newcastle have secure futures is good, but there is still concerns over Scunthorpe and of course Berwick, crowds are down virtually everywhere, clubs losing money.
  17. There lies the issue, speedway is dying, with the supporters who are walking away not being replaced for many reasons, cost, complicated rules, etc.
  18. Look at the average age of Berwick`s support, its an ageing one, the majority of which wont have access to the internet, so using social media would be lost on them. To be fair to the club they have the social media bases covered, the club has an account on Twitter with over 3000 followers and they are on Facebook, as is the supporters club, then there`s the club news letter, so they are getting the word out there. Other than word of mouth I would imagine the poster campaign will be the next cheapest, the club give these away free, for example there was 500 handed out for the last meeting at Berwick, so again that would seem to be covered. IMO its not up to the local paper to provide free advertising for Berwick Speedway, anyway I think speedway is well covered by them, there is a report on the previous weeks meeting, plus a preview of the next meeting.
  19. Congratulations to all at Redcar Speedway on securing speedway for the next 15 years.
  20. All credit to Edinburgh`s promotion and riders, every year they produce a trophy winning team.
  21. No greater promotion than word of mouth IMO, whether it be bar, restaurant, film, speedway meeting, you name it, ironically costs not a penny.
  22. I have seen some photos on social media of riders kevlars, but to see all 16 riders when race suits in tribute to Darcy Ward will be an incredible sight, but hopefully a one off.
