Belle Vue -v Wolves 25-03-16 Good Fiday
screm replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Obviously losing the first two meetings at their new stadium is great, but maybe the Belle Vue promotion should be giving some credit for going for an early postponement, and maybe a lesson has been learned from last weeks events for the grand opening. -

Do you ever get the feeling all is not well with the track at Belle Vue. -

Lets hope a saviour or rescue plan or sponsor can be found that sees Plymouth still able to take their place in the PL.
-
If that happens it would turn a great meeting into a laughing stock. Hopefully Plymouth will still be there, failing that Peterborough should take their place and go through the qualifying system as every other team is doing.

If Plymouth don`t make it then it seems sensible for Peterborough to take their place and qualify for Finals on track and just as host venue, but lets not give up on Plymouth just yet.

Redcar Vs Berwick 24/3/15
screm replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Obviously it would be great if Berwick could get their 2016 season off to winning start but it would be wise not to get carried away whether its a win or loss as some riders will use these meetings to test out new kit. -
Gutted for the promotion, riders and most importantly the fans of Plymouth Speedway, during last season there were reports of tracks struggling so it probably shouldn't come as a complete surprise that at least one club hasn't made it to the start of the 2016 season. One wonders why would the Plymouth promotion wait so late in the day to make this decision, surely it cant be purely down to one poor attendance for last weeks individual meeting. There are now seven riders ready, willing and able to take up a position at another club, that will focus of the mind of a few promoters up and down the Country should their own sides get off to an iffy start.

As someone who will be travelling from Berwick for the Friday & Saturday nights meetings, and having forked out hard earned pennies for hotel and tickets, I truly hope they do, though to be fare if Belle Vue are still having these kind of problems come SWC night, we might as well give up.

I am sure the Belle Vue promotion would've been falling over themselves to take to the mic, had tonight been a success, but sadly it wasn't, so its they who must carry the can. Their stadium, their track, their cock-up. -
You dont get a second chance to make first impressions, I hope I am wrong, but I suspect there will be long term repercussions will be over this.

This is the last thing we needed, lets hope the track is fixed asap, makes the decision not to have full practice sessions going on a bit daft now. -

There`s been a number of things that have happened this winter that have been a positive move from the club, small in themselves but could pay dividends over the season, so well done to those concerned.

I think Sheffield have a very decent side for this season, and will take a bit of stopping. An out and out No1, and in Bates, Garrity and Howarth, three riders very capable of backing Stead up. Young Berge should enjoy Owlerton as a home track, but much will depend on Richard Hall, if he scores at reserve as he should then I think Sheffield are the team to beat for 2016.
-
Must admit I think it would be wise to get bikes out onto the track prior to opening night, the last thing anyone wants is the have a capacity crowd in the stadium, some of the best riders around in the pits, with all the media razzmatazz there to report on first night, and you end up with riders struggling with a rough track. Surely some kind of a rehearsal would be the way to go.

Maybe if there`s a disagreement they`ll go paper scissors stone.

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?

Is there not riders seeded straight through to the Final, you`d think Tai would get one of those picks. -
Bt Sports Grand Prix Presenters
screm replied to speedybee1972's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Absolutely, Suzi Perry was the main presenter on the BBC`s coverage of F1 and Moto GP, you`d think her main role will be coverage of the Moto GP on BT Sport and do the occasional SGP when Moto GP allows. A positive move though IMO for BT Sport getting someone like Perry invloved with speedway.
