Berwick 2017 50th Year

As you say there is no way a track should be set up just to suit one rider, and in this case Vissing should have been professional enough to adapt to the track, its not as if he was struggling to score points, in fact he looked very impressive. -

Fully agree, Berge and Carr were the weak links in the top five, it is they who should've gone. Berge did Carr remains and sadly for him and the team there is no sign of his scoring improving. It must be hoped the extra meetings he will now get with Birmingham does the trick, as Berwick cant continue to carry riders as we have done so far this season. Whatever happened between club and rider regarding Vissing is history now though surely its part of a managers role to manage his riders, maybe this was tried and failed but getting rid of Vissing was a mistake. -

I think there is a practice session at Berwick tomorrow night, maybe an answer or two will be found there for riders looking for a team place. -
Condolences to all family, friends and loved ones.

Redcar V Berwick Ch 4th May
screm replied to Norfolk Bear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Liking your optimism, Redcar have hit 50+pts in their last couple of home meetings and I fully expect them to do so again this Thursday, Ipswich managed 35, Newcastle 34, Berwick will be doing well to match these scores. -

Very creditable, finished one point less than Nick Skorja who was the wild card at last Saturday`s SGP. -

Danny Gappmaier`s hopes of SEC success looks to have ended in today's meeting at Mureck, he finished in 10th with 6pts, the meeting was won by Andrzel Lebiediew. -

In general the actual racing has been good this season and meetings worth the admission money, which is all I ask. The Ipswich KOC meeting wasn't so good but you can blame the weather for that but it would appear from talking to people who were there last night the track was a disgrace with the racing non-existent for the most part, a bit of an own goal for the club. Berwick`s crowds started off very good but a lack of travelling support plus a losing team have seen numbers drop, hopefully changes will be made so that we can at least be winning home meetings. -

Good as it gives the club a chance to sort issues with the team, sort issues with the track etc, but bad as it also gives those who are disillusioned to find something better to do on a Saturday night, you get the feeling if changes arent made some won`t be back. -

After all the build up it was a bit of a damp squid last night, borefest to begin with that only improved slightly when what was approaching an outside line developed. Only on last night but it looks like time has caught up with Nicki Pedersen. -

Different team same result, I didn't go thankfully reading reports it seems I made the right decision as it as it seemed a case as a step back to the bad old days certainly regarding the track. We had a team with three reserves which wasn't working so a team with four is equally doomed to fail, thankfully we have a two week break from home fixtures so it will give the chance for the club to look and act on the season so far, everything from track management to team management. Clearly after today's meeting at Scunthorpe our averages will change leaving the chance for more changes to the team, something that needs to happen. I agree with manager Havelock that nothing is won at the end of April but if the club arent careful their season could be all but over by the time we get to the end of May. -

Bit of a borefest so far, track over watered, Mr Pedersen having a nightmare. -

Its up to the club to inform us of any team changes or riders being unavailable, so far they haven't done that regarding Gappmaier, in fact from today's press release on the web-site they name him in out 1-7 for tonight. Pretty shabby. -

A nine point return on the face of it is a decent night for Carr, though look at who finished in-front of, Championship reserves, riders who I would expect Carr to be beaten. Hopefully though points against his name in a National Final will give Liam some much needed confidence if nothing else. -

Can we take it you haven't seen much of Berge at Berwick this season, believe me some of his performances of been down right abject and putting bike problems down as the reason is embarrassing. For example last Saturday night it had to be announced from the box that it might be a good idea for him to finish a race where his partner had fallen than for some reason decided to join the race again, during which Berge all but gave up racing. Wish him all the best for the future but IMO Berwick are better off without him, maybe not stronger just better off. -

I think Nick Morris will prove to be a good signing, by his own admission he hasn't raced enough in recent season so I`m sure he will be keen to do well. IMO the club still havent addressed the problem of running with three reserves, in fact you could argue things have got worse as potentially we now have four, Payne, Gappmaier, Ethridge and Carr, I suppose if Gappmaier continues in his current form then you can take him out of the list but even so I still think we are very weak lower down the team. Quite happy to see Berge go as he clearly didn't want to be here and IMO it would've been Carr to leave to as they have been our weakest links so far this season so disappointed to see Vissing go, whatever the differences between rider and club could've been worked out surely, not unless that route had already been explored. -
