  1. I'm a Belle Vue fan as I live outside Manchester, but they are and always will be my second team. If ever the Halifax Dukes could rise again, it would be the Dukes all the way.
  2. It will be heart breaking for any Swindon fan coming up for this match, to look across at the impressive new Belle Vue stadium going up in the way it is. I do hope Swindon will have a finished stadium for next year. As for the result, my guess is an eight point win for the Aces, at home and a six point defeat away.
  3. As for the rain, I believe covers are part of the new stadium, so although covers don't help in a downpour, they would have saved quite a few meetings down the years.
  4. and Steve Worrall know the Swindon track.. I think the Aces have the momentum, and will win it now.
  5. It amazes me that we have such a wonderful purpose made speedway stadium and people are finding cause to knock the project in some way. If people don't like Belle Vue's stadium having the title 'National Speedway Stadium', lets draw up a list of all the modern purpose built Speedway stadiums in the UK and then pick one from the list.
  6. Well I was totally wrong, Cook turned up but some of the others didn't.
  7. True, but Cook when on form can beat most even in this league, however he has been inconsistent in the Elite. So my point was, an on form Cook would mean getting something for this fixture.
  8. I see from the Wiki article that one claimant to the centre of the UK is Dunsop Bridge in Lancashire. As this is only about 25 miles from Manchester, it would suggest Manchester is the perfect place to have the National Stadium.
  9. I think the Aces will pinch a point, if Cook rides like he did for Edinburgh last night.
  10. I've edited the title of the thread to reflect the new reality! As for who will make it, less sure now than I was when I started the thread. One thing I do think is very odd is that Sky is not showing the Belle Vue v Swindon match.
  11. As we are getting down to the crucial time of the season, will it be Belle Vue or Swindon for the forth spot? Personally I'm going for Belle Vue to take it.

  13. All this fuss about the confederate flag, it wasn't an issue for left wingers when it was used by the Democrats Bill Clinton and Al Gore. , http://www.exploringthenews.com/breaking-news/their-rules-when-will-the-media-ask-hillary-about-bill-clintons-problematic-relationship-with-the-confederate-flag So if Bill Clinton and Al Gore saw fit to use it, no problems for Somerset!
  14. There are Belle Vue teams in the past that when 10 points down would have not come back to win like this team did tonight.
  15. Totally agree about 'kill the joker', makes the sports look a joke. I can accept Tac Subs and or choose the starting grid as the manager would have judgements to make, but to award double points just for being behind is ludicrous. Can you imagine in football awarding double goals if team is three goals down? Or in tennis, double points for a player two sets down? And we complain when people don't take Speedway seriously.
  16. If you haven't got Sky, but have Eurosport there is Speedway on there too. With the World Cup Final on Freeview this Saturday on Quest.
  17. Very surprised Cook did not make the team. I would have Lambert as reserve, and Cook in the team proper
  18. For the grand opening, I thought the prices were fair, too be honest having bought tickets for Football, Tennis and Cricket in the past, I was expecting them to be higher for this meeting. So pleased to see fair prices. I've got mine booked, and liked to select the exact seat with the plan etc.
  19. Enjoyed the meeting, some great racing, Aces look strong at home. I was impressed with the rule changes, no fiddling about at the gate, no going back to the pits for silly reasons. For once, well done the authorities. Nice touch at the end to have the riders going into the crowd at the end with chocolate
  20. I've gone a lot less since the 'joker' rule came in, it makes the sport look like 'it's a knock out'. Although to be honest I've not minded the Fast Track riders, at least there is the chance of a new crop of British youngsters coming through.
  21. In all sports, competitors will go as far as they can within the rules to gain an advantage. That is the way it always will be. If a rule is introduced to limit the amount of gardening they can do, riders will still push things as far as they legally can. If the rules allow it, the real competitors will do it. Don't blame Tai for doing all he can do to win, that's his job.
  22. Is there no disciplinary procedures with penalties in the SGP? If a footballer acted like Pederson, he would be banned for the next few matches.
