  1. Thanks to the Danish Webmaster for his tremendous work. For those of you who prefer the traditional Race-by-Race layout I have added a Race Off pdf (Based on the KanDysoft SWC Spreadsheet) to the KanDysoft site. http://www.kandysoft.com/Downloads/SWC_PO_%20Print.pdf ATB Dave

  3. Sandie's post confirmed in today's Press Release:- TELFORD Ice Speedway chiefs have reluctantly pulled the plug on their plans for February’s big event. And that spells the end of 23 consecutive shows at the Telford Ice Rink… but both Graham Drury and Ian Thomas have vowed to return for the 25th anniversary in 2010. A massive upgrade of plant machinery within the venue threw the event into doubt – and Drury has revealed how there is no 100% guarantee the rink will be available for the roar of the bikes in February. He said: “We have a wonderful relationship with the management at Telford Ice Rink and they have told us it’s only 80% likely the upgrade work will be completed. “If we were to press ahead with the Speedway it would be a big gamble. Over the years we have developed a great reputation for entertainment and there is no way we would jeapordise that. “So it is with great reluctance that Telford 2009 will not be going ahead, but it must be emphasised that we will be back in February 2010 for our 25th anniversary meetings. That will be some occasion. “I felt a statement was necessary because a lot of fans plan their weekend around Telford and many stay overnight in hotels throughout the area. I apologise to all those who are disappointed and look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2010.” ATB Dave
  4. According to the latest FIM release, Maciej Janowski replaces Gomolski at No. 18 ATB Dave
  5. On-Line pdf of GP Rules: http://www.fim.ch/EN/rules/Sportifs/ccpGP/2008/077_en.pdf Snipped from Rule 077.9.2 The Referee is the only person authorised to take decisions in case of any doubt regarding a rider’s placing if disqualified, injured, etc. during a the Big Final. These decisions must be communicated to the person in charge of the Official Results. ATB Dave
  6. The rule regarding Dead Heats has been amended. Points are now shared between the riders. (i.e. two riders dead heat for first 2.5 points each etc.) Could make the who-beat-who tie break revert to a coin toss / ballot / lucky dip if the two (or more) riders then tied on points prior to the semi's. ATB Dave
  7. Correct f-s-p As shown in my post in :- http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...0entry1052608 ATB Dave
  8. The occasion of a tie in the overall standings IS covered in the FIM rules which can be accessed on-line from:- http://www.fim.ch/EN/rules/Sportifs/ccpGP/2007/077_en.pdf ----------------------------------------------------- The Final Overall Grand Prix Classification In case of riders involved in a tie on the Final Overall Grand Prix Classification, at the end of the Grand Prix Series, the following will apply : 1. Run-off for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. 2. Run-off for 8th place, which is the last qualifying place for the following year's Grand Prix Series. 3. For all other placings, the lowest riding number jacket will be considered the better-placed rider. ------------------------------------------------------ Although it does not state a 'Gate' choice method I feel the ballot is/was the fairest way. 9. Yep...I really wanted to watch the fireworks! ...But what happened on the final bend of the final lap of the final race must have outshone any of the pyrotechnics that followed the presentation! It's a blooming long haul from level 6 Press area, right round the stadium to the Press Conference and we only just arrived in time. Well worth the slog through the bowels of the stadium though, and quite an emotional Press Conference it was too! ATB Dave
  10. For those of us fortunate enough to be in the Press Conference it was also great to see both Jason & Greg acknowledging and praising Chris as a true & worthy winner, also Crumpy leading a round of applause for the British GP Champion. Nice one Jason. ATB Dave
  11. Looks a nice evening in Eskilstuna according to the WebCam http://www.ekuriren.se/?load=kameran ATB Dave
  12. The Rule has been changed this year. Snipped from The Rule Book: (Which is available for download on the FIM Web Site) http://www.fim.ch/en/default.asp?item=30# 077.8.1 Individual Speedway World Championship Grand Prix Format Riders' gate positions for The Big Final (Heat 23) will be chosen by the participating riders prior to the Heat in the order of their finishing place in the Semi-Finals, the two winners have first and second choice. The two second placed riders have third and fourth choice. The draw order of the two winners and the two second placed riders shall be determined by their total race points scored, including the points they scored in the Semi-Finals. The rider with the highest number of points having the first choice, and so on. ATB Dave
  13. More like...when he mentioned the excellent Spreadsheet he was using! ATB Dave
  14. I personally found parts of Millard's commentary very good! ATB Dave
  15. Oh No!! he's had a "Upadek na ostatniej pozycji Schleina" in his 2nd ride Decay on last position Schleina............according to Poltran ATB Dave
  16. I believe that for "Health & Safety" reasons the roof is not allowed to be moved (opened or closed) whilst the public are in the stadium, and so a decision on 'open' or 'closed' has to be made before 5:00 pm. ATB Dave
  17. Sorry SCB, I thought you were talking about watching competitive racing. Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is pre-stage Rallying? (No, I'm not extracting the urine...I really don't know what pre-stage rallying is!) ATB Dave
  18. Ah! But......Can you see ALL of the action ALL of the time at a Rally? ATB Dave
  19. Whilst I'm not trying to justify the £27:00 figure, don't forget that when comparing the the price of tickets for Speedway at the Stadiumn, BSI have to rent the stadium for around a week, plus pay the costs of staff and materials for laying the track, and clearing it all away afterwards. ATB Dave
  20. Because of the fact that points also decide which semi-final you are in, you could then end up with two or three run-off's, just to decide which riders go in which semi-final! Tonight, for example, you would also have needed a run-off between the four riders who finished on 9 points, to decide which semi-final they went in.
  21. Normal points scoring: 3, 2, 1, 0. If two or more riders fail to finish a race they get 0 points, as in League racing.
  22. NEW FORMAT AND ‘YELLOW JERSEY’ FOR 2005 FIM SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX SERIES THE new-look world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series kick-starts this weekend with the world’s top 16 riders lining up for round one - the FIM Dominet Bank European Speedway Grand Prix – that takes place at the Olympic Stadium, Wroclaw on Saturday (30th April). The 2005 Series sees a number of changes to the competition with a new format and the SGP Series’ own ‘yellow jersey’. Sixteen qualified riders will contest each Grand Prix (GP) rather than 24, as in previous seasons. Under the new format, each rider will compete against every other rider in at least one race of the 23 heats. Each rider will also start from each gate position at least once. The current leader of the world championship at each GP will wear a distinctive yellow race jacket. Therefore, for the first round in Wroclaw Jason Crump will be the first rider to wear the exclusive jacket. Whoever wins on Saturday night will be the leader of the GP Series and will don the jacket for the second round – the FIM Swedish Speedway Grand Prix - in Eskilstuna, Sweden. After 20 heats, the top 8 riders will progress to the semi-finals, with the first semi-final featuring 1st, 4th, 6th and 7th placed points scoring riders, while the second semi-final will feature the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 8th placed riders. The riders will pick their own preferred starting gate positions, with the highest scorers taking first pick with following choices made in descending points scoring order. The first and second placed riders in each semi-final will progress to the Final, with the same process will be applied to choosing gate position. The winning rider will be awarded 25 Grand Prix points, second will receive 20, third 18 and 4th 16. All other riders will be awarded the number of race points that they accumulated up to and including Heat 20. The full rider line up and draw is; 1. (13) Ryan Sullivan (Australia) 2. (4) Leigh Adams (Australia) 3. (6) Tomasz Gollob (Poland) 4. (8) Jaroslaw Hampel (Poland) 5. (12) Scott Nicholls (Great Britain) 6. (10) Bjarne Pedersen (Denmark) 7.
