  1. So sad to hear of the passing of Bryn (AKA The Dark Knight and others). He always gave the 'Coventry Press Mafia' a mention in some way in his programme notes when the Bees were visiting Kings Lynn, Oxford or Lakeside, and caused me great embarrassment at the Isle of Wight this year by announcing my attendance over the microphone! Top Man, that Bryn! R.I.P.
  2. Re point 2. Would his family (if they had any interest in Brandon Estates) call the police?
  3. I think that helmet cams have been banned due to their detrimental effect on a helmets ability to absorb impact.
  4. Not sure if it has been mentioned anywhere else but SWC Reserves (who must be U21) will now be able to replace a rider at any time.
  5. And if your team has two or more meetings in a week......?
  6. Due to the new average assessments (PL & EL x1.4) previous season's results will not be counted (this season) and all riders will gain a new Green Sheet Average once they have achieved 4 Home & 4 Away matches. I presume that their final average for 2017 will include ALL of their League matches, whereas 2016 averages only comprised their last 20 Matches. Whether Rolling Averages return for 2018 remains to be seen.
  7. The format for next year is the pre-FDR format. (As used in the PL last year) Not sure if the lowest average reserve has to be at 7 and/or whether No.7 'Protection' for Heat 4 will be maintained.
  8. Eleven applicants for Referee training being interviewed this week by Neil Vatcher.
  9. A couple of my observations from a very enjoyable night at a packed NSSC Question Time. Neil Vatcher confirmed that one of his main tasks this winter is to weed out the rules that conflict with others. 11 applicants for trainee referee positions to be interviewed next week. No TR's in ANY aggregate matches, Premiership or Championship. Brando questioned the sports attitude to Sponsors.......should be recognised as Corporate Partners as in most other sports and have their profile made more prominent, particularly in TV matches. Brando also stated that over the years SKY had put millions of £'s into the sport but there was little indication of it being of benefit to the sport as a whole. (Mainly going to riders? he suggested.) Positive thoughts from Jim Lynch now that the problems over Coventry stadium seem to have been resolved. Seems he was involved in certain ways with the team building. In my view, suggestions that this event could have been 'streamed' would have resulted in more guarded responses to certain questions put to the panel. Well done to the NSSC and to the many fans who attended, boosting the funds for their Young Lions sponsorship.
  10. Not sure if you are misunderstanding. It doesn't mean that a rider in both Leagues will have a combined average. They will end up with a Premiership average calculated over 32 matches, rather than the 20 match Rolling Average. Similarly they would end the season with a Championship average, calculated over 36 matches.
  11. Forgot to add that all relevant League Matches will count. 32 Premiership, 36 Championship.
  12. Rider's averages for 2017 will not include meetings from 2016. All riders will remain on their PL, Assessed or Converted (EL x 1.4) average until they have completed 4H & 4A matches.
  13. To be fair to Colin, he originally did audio tape recordings before joining with.... JSD Video? So he was probably more used to doing a full description of the action. "And that's a nasty, twisting fall........"
  14. The only way that the team total could stay at 50 points would be if Premiership averages were multiplied by 1.4 throughout the season.
  15. 6 exclusions out of 88 races for Coventry is hardly 40%. (6.818% actually)
  16. Or Premiership 1.4 x Championship prices! (Just kidding!)
  17. If 50 points is the initial Declaration Limit then I would suggest that somewhere around 42.5 would be the re-declaring limit. The only problem is what if a rider who has achieved a 'real' average (after 4H & 4A?) gets injured and you need to replace him with a new rider whos average is EL x 1.4.
  18. So, when I win the lottery and have a team of:- Sayfutdinov, Woffinden, Doyle, Iversen, Nicki Pedersen, Garrity and Robert Lambert, that would be OK?
  19. My mistake, sorry! I've just had it clarified by a Referee that TR's are allowed in the EL Play Off's...But not in PL!
  20. So you think he was lying in the interview when he stated that he had not contacted any other club and that no club had contacted him?
  21. I believe Jason actually caught the fence with his hand after being forced out so wide.
  22. And who will be missing from the Coventry line up on Friday? As for my hair colour? Obviously silver + shale red = blondish! (Because I'm worth it!) Never before seen riders having to wear goggles just to watch a race!
  23. On one hand I agree with this post, but playing Devil's Advocate, is it fair that (without Friday's meeting being Rained-Off) Lakeside would have been twice facing a weakened Coventry side whereas other Play-Off contenders have not had that 'benefit'? ATB Dave.
  24. Yeah! Could just have sent him a text! Usually solves any problems!
