Being involved in the heat scheduling, I'll try to explain. There were 36 riders at the meeting, so some will not get their first ride until Heat 9 at the earliest. Plus we have to juggle the heats so that all riders get one ride off each gate and also not to meet any other rider more than once. It ain't easy, I can tell you! It's like trying to compile a Speedway Sudoku of 4 rows and 22 columns! If you compare it to a 16 rider Individual Program for example, one rider in the first race doesn't get a second outing until Heat 8. So when you have 22 x 125cc riders, it can spread out some rides even more, particularly as you also have to intersperse heats for the other two Classes (250cc & 500cc) BTW: If anyone out there can come up with a formula for automatically compiling the Speedway Sudoku, their contribution would be most welcome!

I think you may be wrong in that. A team may have done 5 (or more) at Home before they reach the 4 Away figure. In that case all 5H (or more) + 4A will count towards his new 'official' average.

Rolling Averages will return next season. It was just because of the 'levelling' of averages this year that previous season's scores were not used.

Welcome new for Jason and Leicester, but the Lions v Bees challenge match teams are going to prove to be a bit of a headache now.

Agreed! The new inside line on turns 1-2 certainly saw riders make up a lot of ground. Particularly smart move from Bates to be the first to suss that out.

Your original assumption is correct. Two Groups of 4 = 12 Heats Winner A v 2nd B Winner B v 2nd A S/F Winners to Final. 4,3,2,0. Scoring in all heats. 15 Races in all.

I doubt if most riders will have a 'proper' average by April. Some teams will be lucky to have completed 4H & 4A by the end of May. And those that have may still have a rider or two that have not completed 4H & 4A due to injury/Poland/DU. Then what happens?

Hopefully! Can't see why the BSPA can't issue the fixture list with Coventry included. Far easier to take 28 fixtures out of the list if Coventry do not run, than to put in 28 fixtures if there is a late stay of execution.
