  1. I was there too. It was still raining 15 minutes after the call off, and then eased off as I drove out of the car park.

A someone else has already said, I went there to see 15 heats of racing, not riders negotiating their way round similar to Gorzow early heats on Saturday.

    Correct decision IMO.

Should there be a different way of qualifying for the SGP series?

At the moment a lot of it seems to be based on opinion and where a riders qualification round is ridden.

Is the SGP series any the poorer this season without the likes of Janowski, Dudek, Fricke & Thomsen? Judging by Janowski and Fricke's form this year, for me, no.

Will the series be any the poorer next year without Woffinden? Will he get a pick again? Should he have been in it this year? Who are the top 15 riders in the world? Would Holder and Bewley be in the series if the ruskies hadn't have been thrown out or world they still be bumbling about in the qualifiers?

Should the likes of Paco Castanga be 5 rides away from a SGP spot because his qualifier was ridden on his home track?

Is it right that the SEC champion gets an SGP spot, a competition that is not open to non European competitors?

Other sports have published world rankings (Tennis/Golf/Darts/Snooker), should Speedway do the same and base SGP qualification on these rankings?

I'm not quite sure how you'd work it out, that's for somebody cleverer than me. But you could have world ranking events where you score ranking points for competing and based on your finishing position, national championships, SoN/SWC, PCMT, Czech Golden Helmet etc. Also points for league averages every month.

It'll never happen of course... but it's nice to dream

4 heat winners, 3 of them from Lawson,  against a make shift Ippo team... let down by our Wolves in sheep's clothing again.

Ippo should have been there for the taking, especially on a weather effected track.

    Keep Lawson... bin the rest!

We'll have a Birmingham scrap come Monday...

    And replace them with...........?

Isn't it a maximum of 6 rides that a rider in the main body of the team can take?

If so, MPT wasn't eligible to go out in heat 15 having taken his 6th ride in heat 14.

No, any rider can have a maximum of 7 rides, even an 8th ride if in a Super Heat.

Super Heat rides do not count in the Averages.

  6. Rick Miller.

Needed points in his last meeting of his first season to attain the mandatory point average to enable his return.

Went on to be part of the Bees' Title winning sides of 1987 & 1988, two times World Finalist, and was awarded a Testimonial in his final 1992 season.

Probably one of the best testimonials seen at Brandon.

Can you put up a proper link please…..all I get is soft toys

    Speedway Files List (kandysoft.com)

Scroll down to the International Files listing.

Please be aware this is a working Excel file with 12 GP sheets and a Print sheet. It is priced at £12. The file is 'future proofed' and can be re-used each season that the 2024 format is retained.

Still waiting for the people demanding the meeting be postponed due to the weather to pop up & admit they were wrong / congratulate the track staff / promotion for ensuring the meeting went ahead.

And those that didn't go because of the supposedly poor conditions missed a quite entertaining meeting. (Unless of course, they bought the stream instead).

Conditions at the racetrack were so bad that it meant that they had to water the track during the meeting! B)

two formula 1 cars from the same team collide on the run in to the line and crash out of the race.  the referee doesn’t award either car points so why does he need to here?  was the race actually stopped?  i don’t recall the red lights coming on.  maybe the Lynn rider was past the stricken Leicester duo before the ref had a chance to put the red lights on.  i can see your point of view for sure.  another grey area is where two riders from the same team collide on the opening corner yet both are reinstated for the re run.  i don’t think the rule book is definitive in these kind of scenarios.  i doubt very much that the investigation will focus on heat 2.  for me the incident with the starting gate post will be the focus as this is clearly a safety issue where the heat should have been stopped immediately.  also the ref should have used the tv footage to catch kemp touching the tapes but this heat 2 incident is far too subjective IMHO

Perhaps the Referee did not have access to the TV footage?

You are right, clubs are always going to get criticised, it goes with the territory and you can argue the toss until the cows come home on the merits of whether meetings should have gone ahead or not. I think we a can all agree that meetings have run in the past where they certainly wouldn't do today, whether that be to do with the bikes, tracks, financial risk, whatever the reason. The thing is it is now 2024 and as far as I can tell absolutely nothing has been done to try and remedy the situation at all. The only "improvement" has been the proliferation of weather "forecasts" (and you can really take your pick there as to which service you use and whether you think that is accurate or not) which can often just add confusion to a situation and the dalliance  with track covers occasionally at some tracks.

Comparing the Oxford and Leicester matches, the circumstances were very similar, they're only 80 miles apart have had pretty much the same weather recently and were both going to cop some rain on their opening night. The track was in perfect condition at Leicester the night before, yet Leicester elect to cancel and Oxford don't. Both had the press at their stadiums the day before saying there's going to be Speedway tomorrow night, Speedway is back! You only have to look at Oxford's TwitterX feed to see the size of the crowd they pulled in.

At the Leicester P&P the riders were advised not to ride the inside line on the bends, and they all heeded that advice. You don't get that option when there are 4 riders on the track.
