Mateusz replied to Mateusz's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Bydgoszcz v Czestochowa has been officially cancelled. The only Ekstraliga match taking place tomorrow is going to be Z.Gora v Tarnow as they seem to have agreed they can ride w/o Lindgren (ZG) and Pedersen B (Tarnow). -

I'm not sure but I don't think so - when it comes to GPs, at least in Poland, you buy rights to organize a given event and pay BSI lots of money for it. But then it's all up to you how you promote your event and how much you earn on it from the tickets etc.
-
What's more, it looks like they wanted to save their budget providing no free tickets for the other crews who showed up there yesterday - the Polish and British ones - except free tickets/passes for the riders and coach only (6 in total!). Mechanics, riders' managers, officials etc. they all had to buy tickets for themselves! ... Danish hospitality

Quite possible Jonsson will join the Swedish team on Thursday.

Swc Event 2, King's Lynn, 26/7
Mateusz replied to Bagpuss's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Emil's expected to come back this Sunday for Bydgoszcz v Czestochowa. So I guess that if he really wanted, he could ride in Vojens this week but I don't think they are going to risk. -

Did someone complain after yesterday's tournament at Gorzów? Or is it something wrong with my memory? Today's nothing better at all so far. PS. At least the start girls are stunning! -
PGE (Polish Energy Group) on the race jackets tonight - any complaints anyone?

We can give you Holta and put Pawlicki into our line-up. And nothing will change - team GB will still be just weak. Massive home advantage? LOL. Like the other riders have never ridden at the Gorzow track. And who won it easily at P'borough last year? PS. Holta's been living & paying taxes in Poland for ages now. He owns some land near Cz-wa, his gf is Polish, he's become the Polish Champion twice and been representing Poland for many years. So maybe just leave the guy in peace? -
Swc- Poland 24/07/2010

The track was slick because the meeting had already been postponed and the forecasts for today was RAIN. That's why they made a slick and super dry track - in case of rain they still could ride on it. Initially they wanted to make a grippy track for yesterday to provide as many paths on it as possible but yesterday's terrible weather forced the organisers to change their plans re track preparations. Is it so hard to understand? Cause some of you sound like you have watched speedway for the first time ever. No one can afford having the meeting postponed once again, therefore none wanted to risk today with watering the track too much before the meeting. The track was slick but you still could pass on it and so the Poles were doing. Blame other teams for being rubbish and not able to compete at all. -
Yes indeed.

Don't think they are gonna race tonight - it's been raining heavily in Gorzow since yesterday and forecasts for tonight are not optimistic either Next jury meeting to take place at 2 pm local time. -

Andreas Jonsson will be racing in SWC. A confirming statement is going to be put on his website tonight. -
Gollob, Hampel and Kolodziej in their lifetime form, Holta doing well in SGP as well. Danes - only Bjerre's in a good form this year, the rest is just average (may be doing fine in UK but rubbish results in Polish leagues against world's best riders, not stars like Kosciuch or Stachyra). Any other result than Poland winning it this yr will surprise me much.

(FYI - unlike their performances in the British leagues, all 3 of them have been utterly rubbish in the Polish Ekstraliga this yr - their current league averages, respectively: 26th, 52nd and 46th). This google translation above is rather rubbish too but you can get the general point. I found the bit about Woffinden's behaviour before/after the matches (quoted from Czestochowa fans' open letter in this article) the most interesting ... Showing such attitude I guess that he and Ward will rather finish in some rehab than anywhere high in SGP. -
Polish Extraleague Relegation Battle
Mateusz replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
The Ekstraliga final matches are scheduled for September 19th (1st leg) and 26th (2nd). There's unfortunately no league after the Bydgoszcz GP then, except the 2nd leg of the race-off between Ekstraliga's 7th team and Division 1's 2nd team (very likely it will be Bydgoszcz but very unlikely such match could take place at the Bydgoszcz stadium the day after the GP). Another meeting taking place the day after the GP is Leigh Adams farewell tournament at Leszno including many GP riders. This will be Adams' last speedway meeting ever, I guess. The team that finished higher (before the play-off's) host the second match. Yeah, but only for the unnumbered seats at the backstraight and second bend (95 zl).
