  1. Ok. See you in Adelaide then > I go there on the Thursday (Dec 1st).
  2. I leave on the 21st as well Bryn --don't say we've both booked the same flight!! Are you heading into Sydney first ?? If so what an amazing co-incidence!!
  3. I take it that the Hernes are riding --so will be there with them . Tell Terry if he wants some British guy helping with the announcing I'm available!!
  4. As I am sure he will be too!!! Lunchy --any news on the Gosford meeting Nov 26 ??
  5. Vince -- pass on my best to Sam and here's to wishing him a swift and successful return to the track. He's come on in leaps and bounds this year and it waas such a pity his season ended in this way. All the best for the future.
  6. Thanks Nobby -- nice to hear from you !! Takes me back to good old Oxford days of Georgie Hunter, Pip Lamb, John Hack, Carl Askew, Colin Meredith, David Shields,James Moore, Richie Cauldwell, John Homer, etc. Memories!!
  7. How far is Kurri Kurri from Sydney ? Read that Gosford's meeting on 26th Nov may be doubtful and was planning on going to that one with the Hernes but if it's not on may try to take in the kids meeting --with my thumb out for a lift!!
  8. Thanks for the posting of the results Steve. Was wondering how it all went as I sat doing nothing on the beach in Tenerife!! Great to see Chris Kerr get honourable mention for his team riding and his paid max --nice one mate!! Good to see Shaun Harmatiuk back in the points too with 10 -- hopefully no more concussions !! Look forward to the next rounds. Best wishes to all my friends Stateside.
  9. Well now I'm back from sunning myself (it rained for the first day and a half!!) I will start the planning of what TMGracing has just posted. Already have some interest in the proposed trip but need to finalise a few things now --and as I head for Oz in 3 weeks for Shane Parker's 20 year meeting at Gillman I have to get my skates on --in addition to working on a new track for next year as well !! More news soon folks!! (on all fronts!)
  10. Nice one Steve and George --saw the keys being handed over to George at Weymouth last night --- but hey surely you're not trusting him with them Steve?? He'll be driving off into the sunset --and all before he's old enough to hold a driving licence !! Seriously though --great to see you and have a chat last night --and great news on the backing.
  11. Well said speedway2006 --but you will find Speedyguy lives in the past and is against any forward thinking and promotion of any type.
  12. Blimey Speedyguy you're off again!! Give Russell Paine a chance will you --it's only just begun!! Yet again you are being negative about something new --the 1940's are over and gone, never to be revisited !! Give the guy credit for having the balls to do what he is doing --who knows in 10 years time promoters may be clammering after riders from Spain??? Anyway this thread was about the American League--how the heck have we got on to talking about Spain????
  13. And don't forget Tim's fan club at Stoke --eh Timothy !!
  14. Well Speedguy it will!! And it will go from strength to strength as that is what the likes of Steve Evans and Gary Gomez are aiming for. As posted many times you cannot live in the past as you seem to and every time there is something innovative or someone trying to achieve something you are straight in there knocking it and saying it won't work --examples 1. This 2. The Kiwi Kids tour , 3. Simon Stead going to ride in Oz titles this winter on another thread (Si actually goes over most years basing himself at Perth and when I was over 2 years ago he was just skidding occasionally to test out his arm but enjoying a rest --this time it's a working holiday). For a change give someone a chance and support their efforts. I'm surprised you've not been on saying that Tony Phillips, Julie Davies and myself stand no chance of finding a new track in West Wales --because WE WILL!! Right that's my rant over !! Congrats to the USA boys on two successful meetings last weekend.
  15. courtesy of Ryan Evans and TMG Racing : The Sacramento xtremespeedwayaction.com Silver Machine defeated the Los Angeles Aces 50 to 38 in each team's opening match of the West Coast Speedway League season at Wheel2Wheel Raceway in Victorville, California. The Silver Machine was led by double-figure scores from Matt Browne, Chris Kerr, and J.J. Martynse while Buck Blair's twelve points weren't enough to push the Aces to victory. The match began with an odd 3-2 score after Blair defeated Kerr, but the other two riders, John Stunkard and Michael Hernandez failed to finish on the lead lap, therefore, scoring no points. Mark Sincavage and Ed Martinez led a 4-2 race victory for the Silver Machine in race two which was followed by a 5-1 from Martynse and Michael Hull to give Sacramento an 11-6 advantage after three races. Some confusion regarding race participants ultimately led John DeFries to receive a two-minute exclusion in race four. Browne was victorious over Steve Dziadus, Jr. while Mark Sincavage fell and created another 3-2 score, this time in favor of Sacramento. Kerr defeated the Sauer Brothers for a drawn heat five. Blair and Stunkard combined for a 4-2 race win for Los Angeles in race six. Martynse and Hull combined for a Silver Machine 5-1, but were matched by a 5-1 from Stunkard and Dziadus, Jr. in race eight. Browne was victorious ahead of the Sauers in race nine while Blair won his third race of the night in race ten leaving the score at 31-27 for the Silver Machine. Kerr and John Zuber combined for a 5-1 in race eleven, which was followed by 3-3 drawn heat twelve. Kerr fell while leading race thirteen, but his lead was significant enough for him to remount and cross the line first to complete another Sacramento 5-1. Robbie Sauer of the Aces won race fourteen, but the Silver Machine led 47-35 going into heat fifteen. Aces manager Shaun Harmatiuk sent out Blair and Dziadus for the final race while his Sacramento counterpart, Dave Galvin, nominated Kerr and Browne. Blair got the jump on the field while Browne and Kerr scrambled to pass him. Blair remained cool under the pressure and held on for the win while Browne and Kerr secured second and third, respectively. There was a Support Division program to supplement the action. The Support class was depleted when riders were drafted into the team competition. In the main event, John Zuber was victorious, Adrian Contreras finished second, and Jeff Irwin was third. 16. That's the aim Rabbit. Steve Evans and Gary Gomez working on Dream Team tour 2006 which will probably be late May/ early June to co-incide with GP at Cardiff which they want to see. We are looking at doing some PL and CL meetings with a bigger squad of varied ability . Naturally some of the lads taking part in the league will come into consideration for the tour with the likes of Buck Blair and Bryan Yarrow (who is very keen to come back to British Speedway in 2006 with his shoulder injury now fully repaired) lined up to tour.
  17. Courtesy of TMG Racing : The Victorville Schlaman's Services Vikings rolled to a 58-32 victory over the Orange County BBB Seamless Raingutters Eagles in each team's first match in the West Coast Speedway League at Wheel2Wheel Raceway in Victorville, California. The Vikings were led by Neil Facchini's paid 14 points and 13 more from Billy Hiles. Dale Facchini, Ricky Wells, and Tim Gomez each pitched in with three paid wins apiece. Neil Facchini and Wells got things started with a 4-2 over Nate Perkins and Rich Brock in heat one. Billy Lyons and Rohn Zellner kept the ball rolling in race two with another 4-2. After a restart, race three saw the opening of the floodgates as Gomez and Dale Facchini scored a 5-1 to push the score to 13-5 in favor of the Vikings. Hiles and Zellner combined for a 4-2 score over Brian Starr and Greg Vandemore to open up a ten point lead. Perkins and Brock were able to temporarily stop the bleeding when they were awarded a 4-2 heat win after Gomez went down hard and brought out the red flag. The Vikings quickly turned the tables with another 5-1, this time it was Wells following teammate Neil Facchini across the line. After a 3-3 drawn heat in race seven, the avalanche of Viking points began again as Wells, the 14 year old Youth Naitonal Champion, led a 4-2 result in race eight. That was followed by consecutive 5-1's by Dale Facchini and Gomez in race nine and Neil Facchini and Wells in race 10 after Wells made an awesome outside pass to get into second. The score at this point was 41-19 in favor of the Vikings. Perkins and Brock combined for another 4-2 before Victorville earned another 4-2 themselves followed by Hiles and Neil Facchini scoring a 5-1 in heat thirteen to bring the score to 52-26. Gomez won race fourteen, the final race before the nominated heat fifteen. For the final race, Vikings manager Shawn McConnell sent out Neil Facchini and Hiles. Eagles manager Charlie Venegas nominated Perkins and Rick Valdez. Perkins was away first and won easily while Hiles and Facchini were able to keep Valdez at the back. The next WCSL event will again be at Wheel2Wheel Raceway and is scheduled for Saturday, October 22. 18. E-mail received tonight : We would like to thank all the riders who came out to Victorville last night and put on a great show! The home rown Vikings demolished the OC Eagles 58-32, whilst the Sacramento Silver Machine pulled away at the end to defeat LA Aces 52-35, with 3 maximum scorees in the last 5 heats. Much thanks goes to Shawn McConnell, Charlie Venegas, Dave Galvin, Shaun Harmatiuk, Joe Jones, Brandy McElroy, Ryan Evans, Dave Delbridge and Daryl Correy who all helped behind the scenes to ensure we had a show. It was encouraging that a number of locals came out after newapaper publicity to cheer on the Vikings. It was also great to see fans, riders and mechanics wearing the awesome team merchandise both at the track and in the famous post race pizza parlor gathering. To get your team colors, email TMGRacing@aol.com Ryan Evans will send a full report into the website later. We do it all again on the 22nd, with both unbeaten teams (Vikings &Silver Machine) facing off, with the Eagles and Aces fighting for the first league points.
  19. Blimey Speedyguy are you on your soapbox again!! The league is for the up and coming riders not the top "West Coast stars!!". You certainly have a bee in your bonnet about anything being done to bring on young riders ---don't you like Conference League or does it have to be Elite League only for you ??

  22. Thanks Nash. So if you want a pint at the old Three Tuns when you venture up to the Midlands it'll have to be Kingfisher or Lal Toofan followed by some popadums, chicken tikka massala (madras hot for me!! ) , mushroom pillau rice and a peshwari nan!! No news on Swansea as yet --they probably won't get an instant answer but I have sent an e-mail to see if they know anything. We're doing our best to get a new track sorted!!!

    John Hough

Remember me to John. Houghy was a Brummie at Bordesley Green when I was announcing there when Tom Evitts and Les Powell were the promoters. Not making it over to Perth this winter as tied up with Shane Parker's meeting at Gillman on Dec 3rd --but next time I'm over will try to look him up!!
