  1. Fingers crossed that the wet stuff moved away and the meeting went ahead.
  2. Yes poor old Tai --blew one motor up then seized another on the stand warming it up. An expensive night for him and his dad!! And yes Hally is now an honouary Aussie (no free Fosters though !!) With Tai out for the night Chris Holder was in for a busy one and with no mechanic with brother James heading for home that night I ended up getting my hand dirty helping him with the Aussie boys chipping in to help as well.
  3. great to meet up with some old friends and see some old faces last night. Broady's time as a Stoke Potter when I got to know him was marked with some of his his Loomer Road team mates joining him in Mick Handley, Steve "Eccles" Holden, Bryan Woodward, Barry Duke and Cyril Francis . Pity the rain intervened but I was glad I could make it after being at the Luke Priest Golf Fund Raising Day near Newport and have the chance of having a few moments chat with Mike.
  4. Mark definitely not back Lunchy --still in UK getting as many rides as he can and Sam has a few matches left for Stoke and I think Karlis has a couple of Newport ones as well to do!! James Holder flies back from UK Thursday for the meeting at Nepean at the weekend . Saw him have some laps round Kings Lynn the other week when Chris was riding there and he was gong well.
  5. Yes some heated bargaining going on for the brollies !!! All added to the funds --and the fun!!
  6. Thanks for posting the details Edmon --got patchy results last night from Ben Hopwood and Adam Wrathall (who had quite a crash I understand) at Stoke where they were riding at Paul Clews Testimonial. Take it the lads were good entertainment ?? Little James Sargeant with two wins --bet he had a big smile on his face (as usual) !!!
  7. Thanks to all who joined in with the auction after the meeting --hard going without a microphone and with a noisy bunch in the bar --hey BUT A BIT OF SHOUTING I SHUT THEM UP !!! ( Sorry if I upset you Joel Parsons !!! But it's not easy standing there on a chair trying to raise money for a rider auctioning off body colours etc when there's a lot of shouting and barracking going on!!! ) In the end everything went --a fair few bob went in the fund and I've got no voice left today having helped do Matt Read's meeting the night before as well!!! Thanks to one and all!! Laurence Rogers ( now becoming known s the " Testimonial Auctioneer" ??)
  8. A great night. Good crowd. Some entertaining racing --and some good money spent at the auction afterwards (even Bryn and I got our wallets out!! ) Matt and Claire looked absolutely shattered by the end of the night but still managed to drop in for a much needed glass of refreshment at the Windmill before they headed for a few hours kip and then on to France (hope they didn't oversleep!!). Well done to everyone behind the scenes for a lot of hard work put in for Matt ---superb to see that cheeky grin of his right to the end of the night!!
  9. Let's hope the sun is shining and the fans turn out in big numbers for Matt. Great piece in the Speedway Star on Matt this week that hopefully will get a few more deciding to head for the Oak Tree Arena tomorrow night to help swell Readie's fund ---so come on folks see you there and remember it's a 7.15 start for the parade. If you've not been to Somerset before it's probably the easiest track in the country to find . Just come off the M5 at Junction 22 and turn left towards Highbridge. Travel along the road for a short distance following the brown Speedway Arena signs and then left into the car park (get your £1 ready for the car park fee) and in you go!!! See you there!!
  10. "as most are in Australia" ???? --how do you come to that conclusion south coast robin ??
  11. super line-up --really looking forward to this one!! Notice the name of Jamie SQUIBB in the moto-cross display lads ---no relation to good old Jimmy Squibb ???
  12. Where = Wolverhampton When = One Monday in October!! Who = 16 riders under 18!! ?? All to be revealed soon I expect !! You venturing up Jules ??
  13. Thanks Boz --- will be in touch with the Redcar promotion (think I might know them a little bit!!)
  14. Spoke with Jonathon Chapman last night at Kings Lynn and all three Americans will ride in some support races at the Pride of the East on Weds Oct 4th. Was hoping to add James Holder (Chris' brother ) to them but he now goes home on Sept 29th . One booking down --on with the rest!!
  15. getting the list together over the weekend Steve and contacts already being made --with Matt Browne already over , then it's three Americans available for outings in any open meetings. On the case mate!!
  16. Blimey Bryn --- you'll put people off going!! Sunshine, sand, beautiful women, bundy, cold beers ....... bit of speedway thrown in occassionally!! Where's that AusTravel brochure gone ???? Am I tempted ?? Course I am !!!
  17. no problems Mr Wong --no doubt Lynn will post when she is putting the unsold items on E-bay.
  18. No probs Pat --as long as they don't run out again!! As for the expenses !!!!!????
  19. come on sCATygirl --wouldn't be the same without Shane would it!!! No we saw Matt when we were sitting in the bar at Sean Wilson's meeting at Sheffield and 'Firestarter' offered his services for Matt's meeting as long as he wasn't riding --and I did the same to do whatever is needed on the night (after paying to go in of course first!! --so you there!!
  20. Quite agree Pat --a great night's racing. Looking forward to the next one .
