  1. Cheers Lunchalot !! Won't be able to stop for Aussie titles unfortunately-- but look forward to meeting up at Parks testimonial at Gillman.
  2. If I make it over to Oz for Parks' big one on December 3rd --what other meetings and where are planned from end of Nov to mid Dec ??? Thanks for any help as I can then start planning where to go --and sort out who I'm staying with!!
  3. 'fraid not old boy -- definitely the wrong sex for me !!
  4. good luck to George in his sats --more important than throwing a 500cc bike round a track remind him!! Yes Fiona seems to be doing well on the mechanics job --good to see a good looking mechanic for a change !!!
  5. Nice to meet up with Steve and George again --with your hard working female mechanic (although not secretary as she forcefully pointed out when asked to copy my programme scores by Steve!!). Interesting meeting and some great young talent to come through in the next few years. I've upped George's acting skills from 9.8 to 9.9 reflecting on that heat 8 re-staging first bend pile up !!! He'll never get a 10 though!! Hope things get better for you after the problems of the last week. Laurence
  6. have you put the order in for sunshine Jayne ?? see you later (really this time -but just me)
  7. Thanks for that. Have had a look and had to print it off --especially the picture --brings back great memories although I must admit I've a tear in my eyes looking at it. As for the licence think I can remember something like that being said . Any news on the funeral??
  8. absolutely correct FatherJack. It is a skill that I believe should be taught to every rider. In the US and Australia the riders can't get their licences until they can do it. I remember training schools by Jack Millen at Stoke and Charlie Scarborough at Crewe where it was always part and parcel of the training. How many English lads know how to drop a bike "on a sixpence" today ?? Very few.
  9. RIP Ray. My first speedway hero. He became a good friend and I visited him and his wife Dot in Hereford a few times. He gave me an old black helmet and a winners sash from a German grass track which I have kept with pride . A lovely. lovely man who always had time to say hello. Fond memories.
  10. Congrats to Tomas -- the forgotten half of the two Czech lads Buster and I used at KL in the BL Cup --with Jan Jaros having now made it over in to British Speedway. He had a good meeting for us at Peterborough when we nearly beat the Panthers at Alwaton --must be worth someone giving him a chance especially after this showing. Glad also top see my old mate Mr Jirout have a good meeting and but for his second race retirement could have made the rostrum. He is getting back to full fitness now but is saddled with a high average but would still do a good job in PL for someone I am sure. Mario is a showman ,some I know do not like him --and he does play up !!, but I never had an ounce of trouble with him at Somerset.
  11. Thanks Mainman, You wouldn't happen to know where the prospective site was? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As I was at the noise tests I should remember!! But can't at the moment --also the articles in the Star were written by me --- so I'll get the thinking cap on !!
  12. Planning permission and noise tests stopped it. It was Mike Parker behind it and after the failure no one tried again.
  13. Superb. You can e-mail me at laurencerogers@ic24.net and we can take it from there. Bruv is round for dinner tonight so I can update him then. Thanks BrizHeathen.
  14. Basically anything with an emphasis on Wiggy . I remember seeing one of the proggy's for the Series 500 at Trev's last year that had a spread on Simon --anything like that etc. Why do you have anything ?? Thanks Laurence
  15. Ozyace --if you see Trev and Danny Harding ask if they got my txt the other day to remember to bring back some material on the Series 500 for a book my brother is writing. I'll try riging them but if you can pass on the message it would be much appreciated. Thanks Laurence
  16. I take it that 1 means 1st --if it is well done Chris --no doubt Mick (his dad) and brother James are celebrating. There'll be a few happy faces around Gosford I imagine!!
  17. I think he'd love to Pinstripe but as you say his av (about 5.35 ??) from Arena put him in the awkward to fit in category. If you read this Lee --did you get my text I sent as a reply to yours ??
  18. Good to know that the BSF is alive and working in NSW!! Lee saw my posting and had a txt off him today --now what I want to know is where the hell the txts I've sent him have gone cos he hasn't received them !!!
  19. Thanks for that --send my regards to the Holder clan too. Lewis was going to come over last year but got busy in the family business for FlourTrans (who sponsor a load of riders and Mark's a great fellow and the Myers family are a great lot too) but not sure if we'll see him or Lee H in 2005 ?? Must get back over --only saw two meetings at Gosford but really enjoyed them , seeing old friends and making new ones too.
  20. Good to see Jay Herne going well --started the meeting well by the look of it --nice one mate!! Even beat big bruv in heat 6 !!! Must have made for interesting conversation back at the Herne household afterwards (best wishes to the Herne family whilst I'm at --and Lee is your mobile No. the same ?? Sent you some texts recently but noo replies received!!) If you think Chris Holder will be over 06 --will James join him and dad Mick ?? How old is Korey Williams --don't think he was riding last year at Gosford when I was there ???
  21. ...and always has a new joke or two when he sees you !! Great guy --and still a damn good rider !!
  22. Three meetings in a day --- and I was announcing at two of them Wolfgang with Dudley Wood in the morning and then off to the Wheels for the afternoon one !! You are correct about the two meetings in 1984 --damn cold if I remember !!
  23. what happened to Adam Allott ?? Was he ok ?? Will txt him now anyway but an update but would be much appreciated. Thanks
  24. Must admit Chris Holder caught my eye last year when at Gosford, didn't see Daine Stevens as he was back playing cricket so I was told but now back on a bike and is quite rated from the people I spoke to. Chris' brother James had a few good races too and could come on givn the chances. With Jaye Herne it is a confidence thing with the crash he had two years ago still I think in his mind. Louis Myers has good tackle with dad Mark the main sponsor ofg most of the top NSW boys through Flour Trans and he was going to come to the UK last year but didn't --maybe 2005. Never saw Jason Doyle (any relation to Glenn ??). Just wish I was there again as it exactly 12 months since I was itting in teh Herne household sipping a cold one and getting ready to go to Gosford !!!
