You certainly did Tas ..must be toast in your house for a month now ---not even beans on them!! The battle between you and Penny for Hans's body colour was amazing ..as was the amount paid in the end . Made a great end to a superb auction (take a bow Mr Hoggart!!) ....sorry if we made you wait for the Hans one but I thought I'd keep it right to the end!! -

Sorry to hear that Jayne. I gave him some of his first competitive rides and taken an interest in how he has done over the years. With the success story at Buxton last year he bows out on a high with a few winners medals to show his grandchildren one day!!

David Howe of the Scunthorpe Scorpions and James Wright of the Workington Comets are the latest riders to be confirmed for Newport Speedway's opening fixture - The Prince of Wales Trophy- at Queensway Meadows on Saturday March 19th with tapes up from 7pm. There is also the promise of a surprise inclusion being negotiated which will prove a popular choice with Newport Wasps fans. Commented Meeting Co-ordinator Laurence Rogers: 'David has an outstanding record with individual meetings at the Newport circuit while James has had the benefit of racing in the Elite League in recent seasons so is likely to feature strongly. Meanwhile I am waiting to unveil the name of another top class rider with actual Newport connections in his racing CV. He will be the final rider in the line-up for the event' The Prince of Wales Trophy will eventually feature 16 riders who will compete over an initial 20 heats with a Grand Final for the top four to decide the victor. In addition to the Newport Wasps - Robin Aspegren, Alex Davies, Mark Jones, Todd Kurtz, Leigh Lanham, Kyle Legault and Kim Nilsson also now confirmed are Ben Barker (Plymouth), Jason Doyle (Unattached), Ryan Fisher (Unattached), Shane Parker (Sheffield), Joe Screen (Glasgow) Lee Smart (Plymouth) plus David Howe and James Wright.

Joe Screen and Jason Doyle are the latest stars to confirm their presence in the Prince of Wales Trophy which will launch the Newport Speedway season at Queensway Meadows on Saturday 19th March at 7pm. Screen joined Glasgow in the Premier League last season after a glittering career as an England International and Grand Prix rider while Australian Doyle was a member of Poole's outstanding Elite League team in 2010.. However, like American Ryan Fisher who takes part in this individual meeting, he has not yet landed a team place in British Speedway and will be keen to keep himself in the shop window. Commented Meeting Co-ordinator Laurence Rogers: 'With Ryan Fisher, Shane Parker, Lee Smart, Ben Barker, Joe Screen and Jason Doyle now all confirmed plus all the Wasps in action then we are very close to finalising the line-up. Certainly a competitive and entertaining meeting is in store and it will give the Newport team members an opportunity for a good workout before the Premier League fixtures start.'

Brilliant news that my old friends at West Row are back. No doubt Simon B will celebrate only how he knows to!!

Exciting times for US speedway so it seems ...looking at that list for the weekend British fans will know of 4 of them from tours before as well as Ricky riding in UK plus Brad being a relation of Greg's. With these talented youngsters vying for places in the Under 21 squad for the tour and for the World Team Cup I am sure UK fans will be awaiting news of the final eight who will be racing here in late April on their way to the Ukraine. Gary Gomez is working on the fixtures for the tour and has two dates agreed with several tracks interested in having the lads race against them .....and hopefully these details will be finalised asap. ....watch this space folks!!

Sat March 19th is proposed date for first meeting --one week after the Ben Fund meeting at Scunthorpe on March 12th. That was left to the rider to decide what they used. thanks for that. -

Road was fine later --by the time I left anyway --but was after 7!!!! Lewis really wanted to do the meeting and hoped the upright would be ok but as he admitted in our interview it wasn't up to it after all and wasn't revving enough. As for the format I spent over a week trying different ways to get a better one done and one where all riders meet at least once ---if anyone can achieve this I would be very glad to hear from them. As the printers were closing the week before Christmas we had to go with the format already in use although it is cr*p !! Also noticed Bob C's comment on the tannoy and I did not know we had a problem that bad. The whole system is being looked at by Mike Manning soon to sort it all out.
