Meeting is off. Was looking forward to watching this and thanks to Byron Bekker for the lift he was going to give me. Still on my crutches and unable to drive for now so reliant on lifts ---so it's another boring night in !!

The Heathens V Mildenhall 2nd Leg
Main Man replied to greyhoundp's topic in National League Speedway
well I am five -ten mins from track in Willenhall and there was some overnight rain but the sun is out now with a wind. Monmore track drains well and they were working on it immediately after last night's meeting. -
Yes Jayne that was a summer's day for Buxton!! I I remember well standing on the centre green announcing when we had all four seasons in one day!! Thanks for the hospitality on Sunday --trust the fans enjoyed the wheelies and donuts at the end!!

Coventry Mercia Vikings commence Midland League fixtures this Friday (April 20th) After a few challenge encounters the Coventry “National Cash Advance” Mercia Vikings open their Midland Development League campaign this Friday (April 20th) with a change to the fixture list welcoming the Stoke Spitfires to Brandon. Originally Sheffield were due to be the opponents but with a hectic Premier League fixture list for the Tigers a change of date was requested and thanks must go to Stoke for agreeing to switch their fixture to Friday. Ahead of the clash the Mercia Vikings have had two sponsorship boosts with the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club stepping in to offer each rider a £20 voucher to spend on the Cov Comp van at each home meeting. With the riders receiving no travel money or points money this is a big help to them which is much appreciated as this will help them towards their costs of riding. Joining them as team associate sponsors are FB Race Plates who are offering all the Vikings squad members a discount on their clutch plates which is again a massive help to the youngsters. After the disappointment on Saturday of a called off challenge encounter at Rye House against Milton Keynes Knights after ambulance cover was lost after a heat 15 crash that saw young American Dylan Black taken to hospital the Vikings will track three of the four who had a wasted journey that day. With number one rider Dan Greenwood having had a nightmare last Friday against the USA Future touring side when machinery gremlins which sidelined him in all three outings the 18 year old Dudley Heathen will be putting all that behind him this week. He will be joined by Adam Portwood, Cam Hoskins and Martin Knuckey from Cornwall who will skipper the side as the elder statesman at just 19 in a youthful Vikings quartet with an average age of just 17.5 !! The clash follows the Elite League encounter between the Coventry Bees and Swindon Robins –8pm start. Teams : Coventry Mercia Vikings : 1. Dan Greenwood. 2. Adam Portwood. 3. Cam Hoskins . 4. Martin Knuckey (capt) Stoke Spitfires : 1. Shaun Tedham. 2. Martin Wrathall. 3. Andy Mellish. 4. John Markham

Chris Widman made a successful return to the club where he spent the 2011 National League season by scoring a full 9 points, whilst Tom Woolley also went unbeaten by a visitor on 7+2. Mancunian Andy Mellish top scored for the visitors with 6+1 Widman and Woolley opened the meeting with a convincing 5-1 as the visitors struggled to get to grips with the track, but the racing became closer as the Stoke riders began to adjust in later races. John Markham was excluded from heat 2 after running very wide on the second bend and into the airfence. In the re-run 15-year-old Michael Neale stalked Mellish for 2 laps before executing a neat inside pass to take the lead, only for his engine to stop as he was about to take the last lap flag. Heat 3 saw Mellish a faller as Neale shared a 5-1 with race winner Widman. Woolley was a comfortable winner of heat 4, but he missed the action behind him as Shaun Tedham and David Holt raced shoulder to shoulder, passing and re-passing for four laps in the best race of the night. Heat 5, saw a Widman and Woolley team-ride as they both completed their maximum scores, but the visitors gained some consolation with a 5-1 through Tedham and Mellish in the last race after the unlucky Neale again suffered an engine failure whilst riding a good race in second place. Andy Mellish was a change to the programme in heat 6 replacing John Markham who was having machine problems.

A superb end of tour performance by the USA Future team --who have been a pleasure to team manange --a great bunch of lads ! Score 39-51 . MIKEY BUMAN 5R 6+1; DYLAN BLACK R/R , BRYCE STARKS 5R 7; RUSSELL GREEN 5R 8+1; GINO MANZARES 6R 16; BRAD PAPPALARDO 4R 4+1; AARON FOX 5R 10+2 Was anyone filming the meeting today ? As we were held up in traffic and arrived late it was a bit of a rush and never had chance to check this out ...also Jayne forgot to see if any programmes left to send to sponsors in the USA !!

Can I mirror what Sandie has said and say a big thank you to one and all at Rye House. Len, the ref and I along with Simon the Paramedic discussed what should be done. We were naturally first and foremost taking Dylan into account but also considering the crowd who had been so patient on a damn cold night whilst Dylan was treated. We also had in the thoughts the eight young lads from Milton Keynes and Coventry Mercia Vikings who at their own expense (THEY ARE NOT PAID TRAVEL OR POINTS MONEY AT ALL!) had travelled from all areas for the second half but with a minimum of 30 mins for a County Ambulance the correct decision was reached.
-
See you all later then ...no Dylan Black after last night when he had nowhere to go when Ben Morley's chain snapped in ht 15 --thankfully nothing broken only tissue damage in shoulder --so R/R for Dylan in our final tour match.
-
Dekker -- it was a competitive meeting and that's what the riders want. These tours --this being the 9th --- have been going on since 2005 and the rider's aim is to get noticed as Chris Kerr, Kenny Ingalls and Tyson Burmeister did . But this one was actually added to give them track time and experience on the way to the Ukraine for the under 21 wtc
