Dudley Heathens V Coventry Storm - Tuesday 11th June
Main Man replied to NeilWatson's topic in National League Speedway
Just to clarify . Ryan had to go in at 6 to replace Tommy as under new rulings where you have three 3 pointers one HAS to be declared as being in the main body of the team and cannot be switched to reserve. Marty was chosen as the one to move up . As for the comment on not pin -pointing that was not aimed at riders or their scores but more on why we were not as fast or had the correct set ups. Having said that having spoken to a top ex-rider about this he came out with some interesting comments that we have taken on board . Just to clarify . from the website : Jan O outlines the Speedway package Jan O Pedersen has given more details of what the practical speedway tuition will be during the two years of the Academy course. 'All young riders will receive one to one sessions over the period so that I can assess what makes them tick and deal with any issues. Plus I will attend race meetings that they are participating in so I can monitor progress and advise further. This will not only be about actually riding on track but the important part that the workshop plays too. Understanding what an engine can and can't do for instance. Mechanical preparation is a vital part of racing success. So time will be spent on that. Also, as someone who has achieved the ultimate prize in the sport - casting out doubts and developing a winning mentality in our graduates.' Jan O has already been in talks with Leicester Speedway and Kings Lynn Speedway about organising sessions there

MDL K O Cup Semi-Final 1st Leg : Long Eaton 13 Coventry 22 The Coventry CITY GEARBOXES Ltd Mercia-Vikings have one foot in the door to reach the inaugural Midland Development League K O Cup final following a solid display in the first leg of the semi-final against Long Eaton. The Vikings started in the best possible way with an opening heat maximum 5-1 heat win from Nathan Stoneman and Cam Hoskins. 16 year old whiz kid James Shanes took heat 2 in the first of three superb wins for a 9 point maximum with his heat 6 pass almost on the fence on bend 4 of Jeremy Pestell breathtaking. Heat 3 was total disaster for the home side, who had never lost to Coventry in any home competition in the past few years. Sean Phillips had bike troubles and pulled up before Lee Springthorpe fell for the second time in the race and caused the heat to be stopped and a 5-0 awarded to the Vikings with Shanes and the fast starting John Markham putting their side 13-4 ahead. The Invaders pulled back a 4-2 in heat 4 when Nathan Stoneman pulled up having ricked his back and forcing him out of the meeting. Le Springthorpe took heat 5 with the Vikings duo of John Markham and Cam Hoskins taking a 3-3 top put the side in an unassailable 11-18 lead. Heat 6 saw the remarkable move by young Shanes to secure victory whilst a tiring Markham, taking his fourth ride in five heats just held on to third place to give the Vikings a 9 point advantage for the second leg at Brandon on Friday 21st June. Long Eaton Invaders 13: Sean Phillips 0 0 0 = 0 Lee Springthorpe 1 f/x 3 = 4 Jeremy Pestell 2 3 2 = 7 Adam Portwood 1’ 1 f/x = 2+1 Coventry CITY GEARBOXES Ltd Mercia-Vikings 22 : Nathan Stoneman 3 R = 3 Cam Hoskins 2’ 2 1’ = 5+2 James Shanes 3 3 3 = 9 John Markham 0 2’ 2 1 = 5+1 Ht 1 : Stoneman Hoskins Springthorpe Phillips 1-5 1-5 2: Shanes Pestell Portwood Markham 3-3 4-8 3 : Shanes Markham Springthorpe (f/x) Phillips (ret) 0-5 4-13 4 : Pestell Hoskins Portwood Stoneman (ret) 4-2 8-15 5 : Springthorpe Markham Hoskins Portwood (f/x) 3-3 11-18 6 : Shanes Pestell Markham Phillips 2-4 13-22

Thanks for your usual words of wisdom Shawn . Perhaps you would like to devise a system for the sport and spend as much time as Jan O has working on along with David Lucas and the MSA along with Loughborough University. The NVQ is only part of the overall scheme. There is only funding for five riders as it stands and the membership is to provide funds to open it up to more riders. I find it offensive that you call it a waste of time and I am sure Jan O would love the opportunity of discussing it with you personally so you understand exactly what his aims are.

can't understand why this has been moved to this section --yes it is about young British riders but in the general section it will get more viewings and hopefully more people will offer help by joining the membership --it is for the long term good of British Speedway ...so can the powers that be move it back or copy it please!!

Neale and Colts team-mate Max Clegg opened with a home 5-1 as the Castleford riders got into trouble, Danny Phillips falling and remounting before Conor Dwyer also fell and retired. Heat 2 saw Colts' Matt Williamson take an early lead but he was sent heavily into the fouth bend fence after picking up too much drive and was excluded. Lee Springthorpe's clutch seized as he awaited the re-start, leaving just two riders to contest the re-run which Sam Ward won ahead of Colts debutant Robert Shuttleworth. Phillips replaced machinery jinxed Springthorpe in heat 3. Clegg took the early lead with Neale going around Phillips and then blasting past teammate Clegg who was happy to team-ride on the outside. At the back Ward fell and remounted Heat 4 saw Phillips starting to get to grips with the track and taking the lead after a brief tussle with Williamson. With Dwyer in third, the visitors' heat advantage meant that the Kings closed the gap to 5 points Heat 5 and Neale completed his maximum whilst Ward held off Shuttleworth in third to share the points. Clegg completed his paid maximum in the final race as he and Williamson finished with a home 5-1 over Kings' only representative Dwyer. Apologies that the original POSTING HAD INCORRECT INFORMATION ...HERE IS REVISED RESULTS AND REPORT COURTESY OF BELLE VUE :

Website will be added to and more details provided. All Jan O wanted to was to get it all launched for Cardiff. He will be doing a full interview in the Speedway Star w/e June 15th . We will also be in Cardiff all day Saturday and discussing the Academy whilst handing out the leaflets ...Jan will be answering questions etc ..please come along and talk to us ... The members club involves a lot more than a newsletter ..we will expand on this in a full press release . All will be revealed . Trust the doubters will then be able to fully appraise what the Scheme entails and what the short and long term aims are. I have had my first look at the website and it covers the main basic concepts --it does explain the scheme but as I said it will be added to ...

sorry SCB the website as far as I knew was due to go live today ---not something Jan O has control over as organised and sponsored for us. I will find out what the situation is asap. The important part for Jan O is to get the word out at Cardiff and we will be handing out leaflets all day with the help of some volunteers who we must thank for their help. The most important thing though is the concept of what Jan O is doing.

It will be! Will post the full details but the Membership are for Foundation at £25 and Executive at £100 ..with multiple memberships per person allowable.

A brilliant concept that will hopefully get young British riders to the top of the sport. We will be out and about in Cardiff Saturday handing out leaflets about the academy and inviting fans and businesses to become involved through the two tier membership scheme. The more we raise the more riders we can involve and assist.
