What format was used to decide the winner?? Whoever had the most K's in their name??
This is Speedway, i wouldn't be at all surprised by any 'solution'.
Quality Mr Shovlar, you are full of em
Calling the meeting off and re-scheduling tomorrow was the only sensible decision. These circumstances have occured before in major individual meetings. Certainly that's what happened in the '84 NLRC.
Situations like this just sum up why Speedway is regarded as a Mickey Mouse game followed by anoraks and pikeys. Total farce and makes you wonder why you bother giving it the time of day!
Don't think the following will be far away:
Lindback
Hampel
Nicholls
Richardson
Kasprzak or Lindgren (depending if one is u21 champ)
Zagar
Andersen/Holta
Frankly i'm amazed that people are touting Mark Loram for a place. British speedway would gain exactly zero from him being back in, and he'd struggle too as i also believe his best days are gone.
Definitely Crash, World Champ round in 1974 - Leicester i think.
Not sure on the Reading number 7 - face mask looks like John Davis, but i'm sure he wouldn't be at 7.
Why have 3 different heat formulae?
Wimbledon's track is too small and narrow for such meetings.
The Yanks can barely muster a 5 man team, nevermind 7.
This also creates a closed shop, just like the GP's.
The problem with making it a team event is that apert from the top 5 nations the other sides will be even less competitive than they are now. I agree with you in principal, but it just wouldn't work in reality. Who's going to watch Poland spank Germany or Sweden v Hungary for example?
I do agree that the tournament shouldn't be every year. Bi-annualy or even every four years would add much more prestige to the tournament, and even Tony Rickardsson might try in it then!
I wonder if 'gating tart' Rico's last to first in heat 6 made it's way onto the tele's of Beowulf, Steve Brum, Lupus, Steve Hone, Shazzybird, Shooting Star et al???
TRick was a disgrace last night, it's not the first time he's shown his contempt for the World Cup, his team mates and country.
I'm sure there won't be 3 last places flying about in the GP next week?...i'm so glad he doesn't ride for any team i support with his 70% and stuff you lot attitude!
Girls and sport..eh?
Two posts of complete drivel....3rd place would not have been brilliant it's cr*p, we're not good enough. And as for the old "can you do better" chesnut
Thought that was the dullest race-off yet, the Thursday is normally the highlight of the tournament, but that was pretty dreary fayre last night with nobody watching it either.
I'm even more convinced that GB will struggle tomorrow now as the track didn't produce a great deal of passing.
