You're so right, 5th is a fantastic achievement and the youngsters made a key contribution to us getting so close.
-
Of the 'young' aspect of last night's team only one contributed. The vast majority of the reason we nearly made the final was down to two of the so called 'full strength' failures last year. Let's not let facts get in the way of anything eh? With regard to one of your other points, do you really believe an endorsement from Mr Toogood id anything to right home about??? - British Speedway is critically ill under his tenure and Swindon was going nowhere when he ran that.
-
Don't take it personally, there's plenty of you. We'll see how things pan out, I won't hold my breath.

They will all have forgotten again in a few weeks. He'll be a whinger and a gating tart to those baffoons again soon enough.

No, 11 is more than 9. As I previously said, there's a world of difference in King getting 9 at a track he's ridden since a kid and racing in foreign conditions in the biggest team competition. Riders like him should get experience of such conditions in Test Matches not World Cup competitions.
-
No problem with most of this. But, a World Cup is not the place to splosh riders in at the deep end. Test Matches and grass roots development are the places to nurture riders, not the biggest team event on the planet of Speedway. Best team at all times!
-
He didn't that was Chris Harris.
-
Neither am I in your opinion. Get over it

An out of form Nichoills is still better than a busting a gut King or Bridger at the moment. And to compare a precocious talent like Ward to the likes of King is frankly ridiculous! Not at all For what it's worth my team would have been: Rico Harris Nicholls Woffinden Bridger
-
The only real world class British rider. Hurry up back to Blunsdon Rico
-
There's a world of difference from scoring 9 from 6 on a track you were virtually brought up on and foreign conditions. As poor as he's been this year, Nicholls' experience would have been beneficial tonight and probably earned us a final place.
-
A mix of experience and youth was required. Nights like tonight could destroy any confidence the likes of King and Bridger have. Utilising Woffinden is enough to give youth it's head on nights like tonight. Test Matches are the place to blood a large collection of youngsters, not World Cups! Lyon and the BSPA should get off their asses and arrange some Tests and use grass roots to develop youngsters. World Cups is where the big boys play and have wee bairns for breakfast, like tonight! Lyon came across as a cat in the headlights , particularly in the gate position fiasco.
-
So Rob Lyon's dumb assed idea of picking the team based on age rather than ability backfires, alarm and surprise. For a 3 man team it was a decent effort, what a difference a world class rider in the team makes. Even a great like Rico couldn't raise riders who are barely above PL level to a Final place. Bridger and King were as abject as expected and Lyon's ridiculous policy cost us a final place.

That's why the reserves rides need to be limited to 3 max.

Whether it be Alun or whoever, i stand by my opinion that the Team Gb boss should be a full time role and primarily be used to develop youth and training policies when the team are not racing. -

Not necessarily, the point was that the rest of the Russian team were inspired by their 'star' rider. Rico is ours. As for your other comments, you're absolutely right - let's just carry on as we are. Where have I said Rosco should have the job?? - I've simply said Lyon shouldn't. -

Mmm, I think I'm giving you too much credit by assuming you will understand the rationale behind my posts. Please explain who our class rider is if it isn't Mr Richardson....Emiliano Sanchez? -

I'm well aware he's not the KL Promoter thank you. As you say, RL's position is very Middlo like in the fact that he should be developing ways to bring on the next generation of British riders but is more than happy to manage a team which does nothing of the sort. If RL has any minerals he would quit KL and concentrate full time on initiating a grass roots development process for these new riders. Somehow I doubt that will happen. Two wrongs and all that.....
