As that meeting was at Boston in 1978 (Eddie rode for Boston that year), I reckon it was Eddie and the 'F' is a typing error.

Seems reasonable to try his injury out in a lesser meeting, the day before a play off match in the UK.

The other Italian on the tour was called Battaglia. He didn't ride in any of the matches though.
