Anyone know much background about those who were behind the demolition and planning application?
-
Osborne and Lewis are both Directors of Steel Life Group. Also, are you aware they set up a 2nd Poole Motorsports company in September this year? Poole Motorsports (No2) LTD. This one has Osborne and Lewis in it, whereas the original Poole Motorsports was Osborne only.
-
Lewis is also part of his team working on the destruction of the Abbey and was at the public consultation for Studley Grange. He also worked with Osborne at MK and Torquay...
-
Aware of that. I really hope your Council is as strong as Torbay's was. He will be laying the groundwork with the local authority and was openly talking about a "great new site" for Poole when he was at the public consultation for his current Abbey Stadium plans.

Local plans are as worthwhile as toilet paper these days. Just ask Peterborough!

The clock is ticking at Poole. Osborne will move as soon as Swindon sorted. https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/25622111.poole-pirates-ticking-over-financially-ford-gives-update/?fbclid=Iwb21leAOFkDdjbGNrA4WQL2V4dG4DYWVtAjExAHNydGMGYXBwX2lkDDM1MDY4NTUzMTcyOAhjYWxsc2l0ZQIyNQABHrU-Trqjy-CwF7WZHKyD83V2qvaACYJJqgmZJSyXxkv22sUiGBFTN-icngpE_aem_ISWTTWHeaaAV8YtVf_LSzQ

It's a fantastic little feature and really captures how different life was in the mid-70's compared to now. Reg comes across as a lovely, sincere bloke.

Neither the proposed (alleged) new site at Studley Grange (Wilts Council) nor the Abbey Stadium (Swindon Council) have had their planning applications decided upon yet.
-
DPP reaching for the Abbey Stadium playbook.
-
No problem at all. Hopefully someone can use the data and present it in a far more accessible and intuitive way.
-
Granted. It was setup in the quickest and cheapest way we could, just to get the data available - as nothing existed at the time. It would be much better presented in a database format with a pretty front end UI, but that takes time, money and effort that I can't give it.

Hi. Who do you have in mind? The group have been in contact with people from Save Coventry since day one, the guys involved in getting Oxford back, as well as the BSPL / Phil Morris via Brian Connolly, with whom they are working very closely.
-
Appreciate that, Ian. The 'call to action' has also been across Facebook groups and in the local press to be fair to the group.
-
Closure date for online submissions was yesterday, not "some time ago" People can still submit comments via email. In truth, the Swindon and general speedway public response to variius things recently has been pretty likewarm. A call by the group for donations, the response to the Oxford 4TT and volime of response to the Abbey planning have all been disappointing.

Great news to see both planning applications being rejected this morning. Back to square one for the developers. They 2 parties involved in the application have had a major fallout over the viability of the land sale price and S106. One refused to sign it and 3 deadlines passed. The Showground lives on!

Something with response advice will be out this coming week apparently. The general public's reponse to the whole situation has been bizarre The Swindon Needs Speedway group had only a small turn-out when presenting their petition to Council last year (2,300 names but only about a dozen turned up at the Counci), a recent call for funding help saw only a few donate and now some are moaning about the line-up in the Oxford 4TT this week! Social media has over 2,000 followers, but it seems many want speedway back as long as they don't have to do anything themselves to make it happen!

Some concerning Matt Ford comments in today's Speedway Star about stadium development. Be afraid, be very afraid!

Speedway Star reports that Arthur Payne recently passed away.

Not having a pop at you, just saying it's way wide of the mark. The planning app for Studley Grange is in the consultation phase until next Thursday. There are currently a LOT of objections.

That's nonsense.
