Absolutely!! Embarrassing.

The fatality records of Hackney and King's Lynn would suggest they were more dangerous than most.

Bspa British Final Fans Forum @ Nss Tonigt
frigbo replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Just watched it on You Tube. Idea is good, but only if it's more challenging than this was. Very sanitised and nowhere near enough discussion about the big issues. I really hate these events where questions are vetted; my employer does exactly the same thing at its cascades. -
Should Ex Riders Get Into Speedway Free?
frigbo replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not necessarily, especially in recent mercenary times. Perhaps a length of service to one club type measure; say 5 years maybe? Having said that, speedway has always been awash with freeloaders that have never ridden or worked for the clubs. -
Would have been 66 next Saturday.

Sad news. Rememeber seeing Dave for Halifax in 74-75.

When Did Speedway Stop Being As Good As It Used To Be…
frigbo replied to sparkafag's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Decline started in the mid 80's as the top league dwindled in numbers. This was exacerbated by the Polish and Swedish leagues becoming top dogs in the 90's and riders not giving two tosses about the UK. Racing is no worse than the so-called 'good old days' -
What was his name? I'll see what the Speedway Stars of the time have in their match reports.

Integrity Supporters to have respect from Promoters/Riders Two teams made up of riders who give a damn and actually ride for the two teams! Value for money More fixture variety - a way to make a bigger league work somehow.

The last part of this post grasps exactly why I no longer go. It also reflects onw reason why so many sport fans see Speedway as ridiculous.

To be fair the league does look very lop-sided this year. Poole and BV are miles clear and Leicester and Lakeside miles behind. The other 4 are much of a muchness. -

Looks that way mate. Looking at the teams on paper, Poole makes us look really light. -

Morris and Wroclaw his problem, not Swindon's. -

S*d the riders. If there's a Swindon meeting they should be there. Too much bending to riders' demands has gone a long way to the sport being in the mess it is. About time Rosco and other team bosses stopped being pally and actually told them a few home truths! -

What a really odd point of view. The riders are contracted to Swindon in the Uk and should get their jacksies to Somerset to represent their club. Swindon should not have let them get in the position in the first place. First of many situations through another expertly organised British speedway season I'm sure! -
Habit more than anything. I also still get Speedway Star solely because I have collected every one - rarely read much of it nowadays though. 99% of the time I only look at "General Discussions" or "Years Gone By" sections. Watching any Speedway, bar perhaps the GP, no longer has anything vaguely enticing for me.

Couldn't give a toss and couldn't even tell you who rides for who. Speedway and I are pretty much done I think.
