The 'other' Finn ride for Eastbourne in '83, not Poole. -

Yes, he rode two matches without scoring a point - one of which was Swindon away and the other Leicester at home. Claes Jensen rode for Poole in 1981 and scored one gifted point from his meetings. Jesper B probably the best -

Raba and Jerzy Trzeszkowski came over in 1978. Raba never scored a point in 5 meetings but did go on to be one of Poland's top riders in the 1980's and is a club legend at Opole. He rode in a World Team Cup Final and was second in the Polish Championship. http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/2409/leonard-raba http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/2869/jerzy-trzeszkowski 1976 did see an influx of really poor Poles: Kazimierz Adamczak - Newport, Exeter and Hull Grzegorz Szczepanik at Leicester Adam Olkiewicz at Halifax Eugeniusz Blaszak at Reading. Blaszak did slightly better than the others but got sent home after a shop-lifting offence! http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/141/kazimierz-adamczak http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/2603/grzegorz-szczepanik http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/2090/adam-olkiewicz http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/304/eugeniusz-blaszak -

They had Danes called Rene Christiansen and Finn Jensen in 1983 too - both did nothing, in fact Jensen never scored a point. Peter Schroeck also turned out for them that year. The Poles Jan Puk and Jozef Kafel were probably worst of the lot. -

Eastbourne 1983 was a dire side. Still finished above Swindon though!! The constrant stream of guff foreignersin the BL was one of my favourite things about speedway in the late 70's and 1980's. The top league just doesn't get the same level of unknown dross nowadays - the PL (in old money) has that nailed. -

Bowden seems to be the latest in a meagre line of successful, honest and professional business men who have shown enthusiasm and a will to improve speedway - unfortunately, one by one they fall by the wayside as the true magnitiude of the inherent self-interest and shambolic running of the sport grinds them down. Chapman is tub-thumping about how this is a new start. Comments like those expressed by Mike show it's still the same old story and self-destruction continues at a pace!
-
Which is fair enough. What amazes me is this lot spent a whole weekend ratifying rules for this season and still don't know what's going on!
-
How does such a farcical situation occur? Why would you sign and announce anyone without clarity on his average? Team is still pants though....
-
Hope you're right, but the best part of an 8 average is a huge ask.
-
Bellego, Ellis and Grondal for starters.
-
Drove past last night. Fat end of f-all going on from what I could see.
-
Signing Doyle is not the issue. The issue is we haven't signed riders with scope to improve their averages to compensate.
-
Deary me. What an incredibly weak team so far.
-
Yes, Grondal maybe
-
How ridiculous....

So in theory all 7 could du as long as only two at one club? So in theory all 7 could du as long as only two at one club?
-
Successful teams have value in their starting averages, something lacking in this team at the moment. If there's no lomit on DU, there'll almost be two leagues full of the same riders!
-
Any major sport should have promotion and relegation. However, we all know in speedway it's manufactured nonsense.
-
The team average situation at first green sheet time is "to be clarified" This is direct from one of the promoters and ties in with Chris Louis' press release. So truth is, nobody knows yet what you can do when team and rider averages naturally settle.
-
Be fun when those riders over twelve get a real average and teams have 3 or so points to play with!!
