  1. The Doyle article really annoyed me. It's yet another example of riders looking only at their own needs and pointing a finger of blame at pretty much everyone and everything else as to why British speedway is in such a state. The riders have to take a decent proportion of the blame and realise their own selfishness is not helping.
  2. And the same page has yet another rider pointing the finger at everyone and everything else as being the root of the issue. Riders really need to wake up and start looking in the mirror at the big part they've played in the mess the sport finds itself in. Sweden is in a right mess too. Looks like more clubs closing over there after this season.
  3. Hahahaha...that's hilarious, even for speedway!!
  4. BWD must be a doubt as he has posted pics with his arm in a sling following a prang at Scunny
  5. I for one would rather the same set of riders representing a team each meeting - irrespective of nationality. Don't kid yourself that there isn't still a decent smattering of "journeyman foreigners" in our leagues and if you could point out those riders "committed to British Speedway" that would be interesting to see.
  6. None of those doubled uo and were Swindon riders for the period they were in our team. The old shared position for doubling up was vaguely sensible in comparison to the utter farce that prevails now. I'm frankly shocked that there is a section of people on here who actually support what is virtually two leagues of the same riders mixed up and given different team names. No wonder the league gap has closed - they're almost the same blokes competing in both!
  7. Good point. If only I wasn't on me 'olidays mate!!
  8. To be fair, the Swindon team line-up has been pretty consistent. My issue is more around the numerous select sides that have rolled up pretending to be the away team. Having said that, I do have a fundamental dislike of the concept of any rider having more than one fuĺl-time UK team place - it simply has no place in any sport in my view.
  9. Neal Watson was also killed at King's Lynn in 1984.
  10. Swindon v Garry May Select. Another farce of a meeting
  11. Me for one - although it is the amount of meetings riders miss and facilities to cover that is the real issue for me
  12. The main difference in the past is very few doubling up riders were in the declared 1-7 of both teams. I can just about stomach div 2 riders filling in for top flight teams but the current situation is nothing more than a circus of riders in a different costume as it suits their needs.
  13. In a nutshell this captured why I no longer go. Another long term fan sick of the sport being run to suit nobody but the riders.
  14. Horrific crash. Carter clipped Gary Chessell when he fell and basically rode straight into the fence and ended up slumped on his bike wrapped in the wire meshing - so lucky to miss the uprights.
  15. Classic Jim Lynch. Loses his team the meeting with absolute ineptitude!!
  16. What a collection of team manager cock-ups these last few heats have been!
  17. Great work from the Mighty Rosco Get well soon Dany
  18. Andersson rode for Glasgow in 1968 I believe.
  19. 1978 and 1976 were the years that saw an influx of mediocre or 'past their best' Poles. Although his record for Swindon was woeful at the time, later form suggested Raba would have probably come good. He was a little unlucky as he got injured which meant he actually only appered in one BL heat at home, with his other four matches all being away. I would agree that Proch was the best of the '76 group by some distance.
  20. Might as well chuck God Save The Queen in the bin at Cardiff if Schlein wins. Tiny Kangaroo Down Sport more appropriate with him and Woffinden in town.
  21. That particular feature is desperate. I assume it's trying to portray speedway as cool by having such 'famous' followers.
  22. Apart from obvious ones like Craven and Ronnie Moore, I would like to have seen Tadeusz Teodorowicz.
