Hi prodons The Wimbledon speedway body colour Youtube video is now live

Does anyone know what all the Wimbledon body colours were prior to 1937. On the defunct speedway website they have a Wimbledon team photo (1929) and a picture i have of the 1930 team show them wearing a light body colour does anyone know whether it was white or yellow? On eBay there is a 1931 programme printed with blue writing - did they use this colour on their race bibs? When did Wimbledon start using the plain red race bib? Maybe 1932 as their match programmes have red print on them from this date. Again on the defunct speedway website these was a case of them using a black race jacket away against Belle Vue in 1934, so maybe this season they used two different team race jackets as Belle Vue wore red one's. Thanks in advance for any help. +++++S top Press +++++++ After doing some spectral analysis on some old Wimbledon photos I can confirm that in 1929 and 1930 their team body colours were yellow as this was showing in the B&W images. All images from 1932 showed the colours to be red the same as printed on their match programmes. Ths only leaves 1931 but as their match programmes used blue in the printing (here's one on eBay at the moment) it is only logical that this might have been their body colour for this season.

just completed all of the Wimbledon race bibs 1991 was a bit tricky I never give p on things and it does look extremely nice. Does anyone remember why Wimbledon changed from the normal red background colour of the race bib to yellow? I have now found a colour picture of Crayford's 1976 body colours on the back cover of a early 1977 Speedway Star. I have now updated my YouTube video with Cratfors correct body colours form 1976.

Was the Kestrel yellow also. it was many years ago when I last there and thanks for pointing this out as I did have trouble finding a colour image from 1976 of Crayford's colours. i know from the 1976 Crayford programmes that I have from my visits that the rider on the front cover is pictured wearing a red & white race bib, so did they have two colours? I have changed Crayford's colours to Yellow just give a bit of time and I will change the YouTube video. All updated now and live again on YouTube please see post #1 for new address

It was well worth all my effort making all of these bibs and bringing them to life in colour. It would be nice if anyone knows of any articles about the companies that made them and I know from recreating them on my computer that they were superb craftspeople and highly talented.

So glad that you like it Steve I'm currently working on a new shape for my graphic as I think that mt current one is too curvy and the new is much better. When I updated the video I will also update the link to YouTube.

I have just discovered that Leicester had two different race bibs in 1976. I came across a pictures of Reidar Eide and others teammates in 1976 editions of Speedway Mail. Can anyone please inform me did Workington use two different race bibs in 1976 the one with big C on it, and the one the one with the shield on it?

Not a problem Steve it only took a few minutes to make a new White City body bib. i have already started work on the 1976 New National League bibs. The Paisley one looks really nice. I have just updated hopefully the version of the video. I have redrawn the Birmingham, Reading and Sheffield images as I knew I could have done better with them. The new YouTube address in post number 1

Hi Steve I started attending Wimbledon in 1976 and I cannot remember the 1976 Wimbledon colours with the yellow border (all a long time ago). This is very easy to do and I add one of these in a new video on Wednesday as I do not the time tonight. Was this a thick yellow border or thin? I have also made to add to the 1976 collection for the Wednesday update - the correct Newport one with the Welsh Dragon behind the letter N. The second (Red) White City body colour and various one's with the Gulf logo badge on them that include Hackney, Poole, Reading and Swindon. Plus a Halifax body bib with a number on it. I know that Wimbledon body colours in 1976 did have numbers on them but the number 1 was retired for the season after Tommy's tragic accident, so i do not whether I will make with a number on it or not. I now about the B&W of body colours I had to go through loads of Speedway Stars and Speedway Express and book for colour images plus of course looking online, but it was worth the effort. Hopefully I will be able to make a 1976 New National League video also in time.

I have just put on YouTUbe a video with all of the 1976 Gulf British League and New National League teams body colours. The image I personally made using scalable vector graphics ( SVG) but the images in the still look very good from my high quality PNG files in 1080p. The youTube link is https://youtu.be/Nz9ProH9Cxg If people link the video I may put some body colours up on YouTube for everyone to enjoy once I have made them.

A nice lucky pick that sees me sitting top of the table, for now. Not a bad result for us punters, as we lost only two members when R&R was after at least six of us to be eliminated for his competition, and one of brave brethren is only missing because they did not place a bet. I do not know yet which rider will be the recipient on my next £200 bet I await your odds in the due course of time with much happiness.
