Has anyone got the second half details from the following 1976 Wimbledon home meetings. Vs Ipswich - Monday 19th April (GBL League Match) Vs Birmingham - Thursday 29th April (Speedway Star KO Cup) Vs Sheffield - Monday 30th August (GBL League Match) Vs Exeter - Thursday 21st October (GBL League Match) (this league match was postponed the previous week, but used the same league match programme) I cannot remember why I did not fill in the second half details in these matches, it's a long time ago. Many thanks for any help in advance.

My idea on this forum a few months ago, and printed in Speedway Star magazine a few weeks ago, where the top five average non-GP riders in Britain, Poland and Sweden, along with the reiging World Under 21 Champion, would race against the bottom seven GP riders in one qualifying round would work, bercause it would give all riders a chance of qualifying for the GP series.

Rickardssons Antics
Robbie B replied to Eastie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It just goes to show what pressure the Swedish team is under, when Rickardsson does something like this. Could not beleive that he was not excluded. -
Come on you BRITS

It just seems daft to me that no team is allowed to have a reserve rider. What happens if a rider is ruled because of a injury during the meeting ?. Also this joker is totally biased against the team that is leading, as they have no chance of using one. I think it should either be scrapped, or all teams are allowed a joker to use when they desire. The Brits were totally AWESOME last night

Gp Qualifying For 2006
Robbie B replied to Robbie B's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I do have to agree with Andy M, their should be some kind of qualifaction for the GP series. BSI, will just make sure that each major speedway nation has more or less the same number of qualifiers, each season, leaving riders like David Norris out in the cold. I don't think that BSI would pick him to go into the GP's, despite his performance at Cardiff last year. The only other way that I thought would work is, that the top three in the averages in the leagues mentioned above, would then meet the bottom seven riders in the GP series, and then hold a traditional 20 heat meeting, with the top seven riders then going through to the GP series. -
Her is a copy of a letter that I sent to Speedeway Star magazine, hopefully it will be in this weeks letters page. With regards the qualification of the riders for the 2006 Grand Prix series. It seems strange to me and other speedway supporters that I have spoken too, that there is no direct way of riders to qualify for the 2006 GP series, with riders most likely being nominated by Benfield Sports International and the FIM. But I have thought of a way that could change all this, and would require just one speedway meeting to give riders a chance of qualifying for the 2006 GP series. My idea is, the bottom eight riders from the 2005 GP series, would race in a meeting like the old GP challenge, with twenty-four riders. These eight GP riders would then meet the top five non-GP riders in the averages from the British Elite League, Swedish Elite League and the Polish Extraleague, with the final place going to the rider who wins the World Under 21 Championship. Eight riders would then qualify from this meeting for the 2006 GP series. Obviously some riders do ride in more then one country; in this case, the British Elite League would take president over the Swedish Elite League followed by the Polish Extraleague. For instance if Mark Loram finished in the top five no-GP positions in all three leagues, he would only qualify as the British Elite League representative, with his place in the Swedish and Polish leagues going to the next non-GP rider in line. To make it completely fair to all riders, a rider must have ridden in at least 60% of his team’s total amount of league matches in any league, by a specific date, for example the 1st September, to qualify for the top five non-GP averages. The 60% mark would allow for any injuries that a rider might sustain, and also make sure that a rider does not ride just six or seven league matches to obtain a high average to qualify. This system would give all non-GP riders something to aim for during the league season, and would ensure that the best riders in the world would contest the 2006 GP series. It would be very interesting to see what Benfield Sports International, and other speedway supporters think of my idea. I did email Benfield Sports Internation, last Friday but so far I have had no reply. Please let me know what you think of my idea.

My best memory from the Hackney Vs Wimbledon matches, comes from Friday 11th May 1979, when Wimbledon broke the league record for the biggest away victory, at Waterden Road, by winning 56 - 22, happy days Personally I don't either set of supporters could believe what they saw that night, I had many a happy night reminding my brother, who was a Hackney supporter of that night. It is a great shame that Waterden Road, is now derelict, as it would brilliant too see them race again.

Below is a link to world.speedway.org It has the line for the Polish GP http://world.speedway.org/wc/i/8.sdf

The line for the Scandinavia GP is on the link below. From the World Speedway website http://world.speedway.org/wc/i/6.sdf Nice too see that they picked Peter Ljung & David Rud as wildcards. Tomhaines, you might be right that Joonas Kylmakorpi, should be riding. Mark Loram's is in the listing, but he may pull due too injury. Hopefull he will ride if fully fit. ** Please note that Roni Pedersen replaces Lukas Dryml **

Will Middlo step down??
Robbie B replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Middlo has done a great job for the British team. I cannot see any reason why he should give up being Great Britain manager. All the best in the future, Middlo. I wish once and for all, people would stop moaning about his team selection. You have to remember who ever he picked people would still moan the team. Too many people playing team manager. They should support him, and the British team instead. In my opion he picked the best riders available for the world cup, and they did Great Britain proud. The British team were totally awesome on Monday & Thursday, on a decent racing track. If the track for the final wasn't so bad, who knows what might have happended. -
Greetings from Denmark
Robbie B replied to Middlo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thanks Middlo, for taking the time to a post on the forum. All the British team done up proud shame that we didn't win the final, but evryone gave 100%, and that is all you can ask for. The boys were totally awesome on Monday & Thursday. The track played a big part in tonight's result, how can they run a world championship event, on a track like this, when no rider given a chance too rider at their ability. Thanks for the teams great riding, and all the hard work put in by everyone. Best wishes to everyone involed with, Team GB. -
Sweden World Champions 2003!!
Robbie B replied to Robbo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well done Sweden I didn't give them much hope, but Mikael Max was brilliant ith 25 points and Peter Ljung heat 24 superb I see that next year's world cup will again be in Great Britain, so maybe next time. -
After watching all the meetings my guess is 1 Great Britain 2 Australia 3 Denmark 4 Poland 5 Sweden I think that Team GB has got the team spirit just right, too edge out Australia. Denmark just getting the best of Poland, with Sweden struggling apart from, Andreas Jonsson.

Will Mido Keep The Same Team?
Robbie B replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There is no way you change any of 'Middlo's Marvels' every rider has given 100% and are simply awesome. They totally dedstroyed the field in the race-off, and do have a great chance on Saturday. The way that they are riding, they could win it. Best of luck to them on Saturday.
