Many thanks iris123 for the information. My programme must be wrong then, why did I write the times down in 1/100s I don't know, but at least it's now been solved.
-
I doubt that with all of those helmet covers coming off, and with all four riders finishing record will ever be broken.
-
Maybe I got it wrong then I don't know. Sorry norbold for any hassle that you went trying to work it out. Anyone else with a completed programme for this meeting to help out.
-
Maybe that what I can remember even at the time I thought why was the time giving the time out in 1/000s. Were you at the meeting Norbold? It would be interesting if I have the only programme with 1/000s in the second half times, then maybe I was wrong, but it's such a strong memory though. I never put 1/000s timings in any other programme that I have got.

Here's what I wrote down at the time. I can stil remember the annoucer giving out the times in 1/000s of a second. I wrote them in 1/100s as that's what I heard, at the time. I post them up after the Polish speedway match. It was also my first Wimbledon away match, so it always stuck in my mind. And my second ever live speedway meeting.
-
If you look at the heat times in the programme. During the Challenge Match they were given out in tenths of a second to the crowd (71.6 for example), but in the second half they were given out in hundreds of a second (71.65 for example), this is the only time this has happened in a meeting that I have been to. Maybe they changed time keeper, for the second half. I did say that it was tricky, and that the clue was in the programme.
-
I know if you're at the track it is. But if you can't make a meeting then 3D speedway is the next best thing.
-
That's indeed unusal but it's not the answer I want. The clue's in the progamme if you look at it carefully, and it has been fully completed. I will post the answer I'm after later today, after the first Polish league match on the Internet has ended.
-
None right so far. If you were there, or have a completed programme for the meeting including the second half this will help you. This is a massive clue.
-
This is a bit harder then the other 'a quick question' posed on this section. Something happened at White City reopening challenge match, at home against Wimbledon, in 1976. I have been too many speedway meetings in my time, but this 'thing' has never happened, at any other meeting I have been to. So what happened in this meeting?
-
Great coverage from Sky in 3D, I really enjoyed it. The nearest thing to be being there, if you can't make it. I wonder if one-day all speedway will be in 3D?

I'm looking for the same thing bradonbee, we might be unlucky tonight :-( -
Tony, I couldn't inform whether any other Dons riders offered their bikes for Tommy to use or not. It was something I overheard, at the time, most likely when I went to get riders autographs, in the pits during the meeting interval, and I always remembered this. I also remember reading that this happened somewhere, over the course of time.
-
My most memorable memory is like Cityrebels. Seeing Tommmy Jansson riding round Plough Lane, after beating Dave Jessup 2-1 waving to the crowd whilst wearing the Golden Helmet. Tragic that he never got to defend his title. I don't know if you know, but Tommy used Wimbledon junior Ian Williams bike, in the second and third legs, of this match race, after his own bike broke down during the first race. One thing I have read over the years. Was the only two riders to win the Golden Helmet with the name Tommy (Jannson & Fardon) both lost their lives while being the current holders.

Vic, will never be forgotten by those supporters who saw him ride. Such a very sad and terrible lost, to his family, friends and speedway. RIP Vic
-
Tomcat, I also wrote down the riders list from the SGP website, so maybe you might have wrote them down incorrectly, easy done though.
-
Tomcat, are you sure you wrote the riders names in the correct places, as I had no problems with my Czech Republic Grand Prix programme, in the Speedway Star. I doubt that Speedway Star made a special mis-printed programme just for you.

Great win by the Blacksmiths tonight. Being a Ikaros Smederna fan, next week league match against Rospiggarna, looks very interesting. I hope we can win this this one, but it's gonna be very tough, especailly away from home. I may say that it's brilliant for the Allsvenskan league to show its league matches live and for free every week. I don't think that the Premier League would ever do this. -
I can't make Cardiff this year, so brought myself a 3d TV this week, it should be the next best thing. I'm gonna recorded it in on both the HD and 3D channels to compare them.
-
Many thanks for the info, but I only just received the email from Premier Sports thia morning, that the TV match has been changed. Should stil be a great match-up. Jason Crump was flying in Poland, on Sunday
