Swc Team Australia
Robbie B replied to BigFatDave's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Personally I think Australia would be much stronger if they had Ryan Sullivan in their team, especially the way that he's riding at the moment. Then I really could see Australia winning it. Especially as Poland do have some problems with some of thier riders inconsistent form, at the moment. -
More 3D speedway this year now that would be brilliant. Maybe the Elite League play-offs? When the speedway switched into 3D with the bikes going round the track, the pictures were awesome, with incredible picture detail, that you just don't get with 2D TV, it was as close as getting as possible, I think. Many thanks too everyone at Sky for all their hard work, on Saturday, it was well worth buying my 3D TV for

At this meetig norbold I watched the league match down by the starting gate. But for the second half I sat on the steps about half-way between the first and second bend, if remember right. I was only just a teenager then - happy dayz. But I go reguarly go to Wimbledon, Hackney, White City and sometimes to Crayford.
-
Many thanks iris123 for the information. My programme must be wrong then, why did I write the times down in 1/100s I don't know, but at least it's now been solved.
-
I doubt that with all of those helmet covers coming off, and with all four riders finishing record will ever be broken.
-
Maybe I got it wrong then I don't know. Sorry norbold for any hassle that you went trying to work it out. Anyone else with a completed programme for this meeting to help out.
-
Maybe that what I can remember even at the time I thought why was the time giving the time out in 1/000s. Were you at the meeting Norbold? It would be interesting if I have the only programme with 1/000s in the second half times, then maybe I was wrong, but it's such a strong memory though. I never put 1/000s timings in any other programme that I have got.
-
Here's what I wrote down at the time. I can stil remember the annoucer giving out the times in 1/000s of a second. Event 2 Reserve Challenge 1 Heat 14 Brian Clark, Eric Dugard, Steve Weatherley, Ken Matthews 77.04 Event 3 - Man of the Meeting - Heat 1 Heat 15 Tommy Jansson, Mick Hines, Paul Gachet, Dag Lovaas 75.06 Event 3 - Man of the Meeting - Heat 2 Heat 16 Gordon Kennett, Trevor Geer, Edgar Stangeland, Eric Dugard 76.00 Event 3 - Man of the Meeting - Heat 3 Heat 17 Brian Clark, Richard Greer, Roger Johns, Bo Jansson 76.02 Event 3 - Man of the Meeting - Heat 4 Heat 18 Barry Crowson, John Dews, Richard Hellsen, Steve Weatherley 79.00 Event 4 - Reserve Challenge 2 Heat 19 Brian Clark, Ken Matthews, Steve Weatherley, Eric Dugard 78.00 Man of the Meeting - Final Heat 20 Tommy Jansson, Gordon Kennett, Brian Clark, Barry Crowson 77.02

I wrote them in 1/100s as that's what I heard, at the time. I post them up after the Polish speedway match. It was also my first Wimbledon away match, so it always stuck in my mind. And my second ever live speedway meeting.
-
If you look at the heat times in the programme. During the Challenge Match they were given out in tenths of a second to the crowd (71.6 for example), but in the second half they were given out in hundreds of a second (71.65 for example), this is the only time this has happened in a meeting that I have been to. Maybe they changed time keeper, for the second half. I did say that it was tricky, and that the clue was in the programme.
-
I know if you're at the track it is. But if you can't make a meeting then 3D speedway is the next best thing.
-
That's indeed unusal but it's not the answer I want. The clue's in the progamme if you look at it carefully, and it has been fully completed. I will post the answer I'm after later today, after the first Polish league match on the Internet has ended.
