It's Whit Monday and I have been reminded of the greatest sporting day,in my life, so far (6 June 1977). It started off going to the Oval watching England play against Australia, in a one-day International. A match where unusually a player for each team made a century. namely Dennis Amiss (England) 108 and Greg Chappell (Australia) 125. Both teams contained famous names of the past. The England team was (242) JM Brearley (78), DL Amiss (108), DW Randall (6), GD Barlow (2), AW Greig (4), APE Knott (4), G Miller (4), CM Old (20), JK Lever (2), DL Underwood (5), RGD Willis (0), England having a 161 run opening partnership. The Australian Team was (246) RB McCosker (11), RD Robinson (70), GS Chappell (125), KJ Hughes (3), KD Walters (12), DW Hookes (3), RJ Bright (0), KJ O'Keeffe (0), JR Thompson (3), G Dymock (2), LS Pascoe (dnb) Australia won the match by 2 wickets. After the match it was a matter of a short journey to Plough Lane to watch the Internationale. And what a meeting that turned out to be with a Wimbledon one-two. This rounded off a fantastic of day of live sport, for me as a teenager. Internationale scores Edward Jancarz (Wimbledon) 13, Larry Ross (Wimbledon) 11 (after run off), Phil Crump (Bristol) 11, Dave Jessup (Reading) 9, John Davis (Reading) 9, Gordon Kennett (White City) 9, Billy Sanders (Ipswich) 9, Jim McMillan (Wolverhampton) 8, Chris Morton (Belle Vue) 8, Peter Collins (Belle Vue) 7, Martin Ashby (Swindon) 7, Malcolm Simmons (Poole) 7, John Louis (Ipswich) 5, John Boulger (Leicester) 4, Doug Wyer (Sheffield) 2, Michael Lee (King's Lynn) 1, Neil Middleditch (Poole) (res) 0, Keith White (Hackney) (res) dnr. The cost of all this live entertainment (including programmes) less then £5. What a bargain. So what was your greatest ever sporting day?

There will be a change to Tommy' s UK race race record, as I have received new information to me. Regarding two of Tommy's Wembley fixtures against Belle Vue that were amended, after the events, which I didn't know at the time of making the file. I have sent this new amended file to the speedway researcher, on Sunday.

I glad that everyone likes my Tommy Jansson UK race record file. It did take some time to do, but it was worth every single second put in, as a tribute to a great rider and person. It's a great shame the the file was not much much longer. Tommy always had time for his supporters, and I felt that it was the least I could do in his memory.

GROUP 1 Tai Woffinden (25) GROUP 2 Chris Holder (25) GROUP 3 Matej Zagar (25) GROUP 4 Antonio Lindback (30) GROUP 5 Krzysztof Kasprzak (25) To make the final Woffinden, Sayfurdinov, Holder, Lindback -
May the 20th has come around again and it's hard to believe that it's now 37 years since Tommy lost his life in a World Championship qualifying round, in Sweden. A night that all Dons supporters started off by celebrating after a hard fought 39-all draw at Sheffield that so suddenly turned to tears to us all when the news filtered though. I can still remember like yesterday seeing the news in the national press about this tragic moment that now in speedway history. Having to go to school that morning was the last thing I wanted to do. I have sent the speedway researcher a file copy of Tommy's UK race record that I had on a website a few years back. They have told that the file will be uploaded in their next update. I just like to say Tommy thanks for all of the great memories and like all speedway riders who pay the ultimate price for our entertainment Tommy you will never be forgotten RIP.

British GP Odds Tai Woffinden 7/2 Emil Sayfutdinov 4/1 Chris Holder 13/2 Nicki Pedersen 7/1 Tomasz Gollob 15/2 Jaroslaw Hampel 8/1 Greg Hancock 16/1 Matej Zagar 16/1 Niels-Kristian Iversen 20/1 Andreas Jonsson 25/1 Fredrik Lindgren 25/1 Antonio Lindback 28/1 Krzystof Kasprzak 40/1 Martin Vaculik 40/1 Chris Harris 66/1 Ales Dryml 25/1 As people may be going to the British GP I will be posting the odds ASAP. Special Bet for the British GP You have a £1,000 bet. You must pick one rider from each of the following groups to put into a accumulator. The more riders you get right the more money you will win. If you pick a rider that is outscored by their grouped partner then this rider is removed from your overall accumulator. Only winning riders will be placed in your accumulator. So in the you may have 2, 5, 6 or even 8 riders in your final winners accumulator. There is some serious money to be made here between £127,623.74 for all of the favourites winning to £6,561,000 for all of the outsiders winning. So here's a chance for everyone to make loads of cash. If the two grouped riders finish level on points, it will be decided by which rider finished higher in the heat when they met. If the one of the tied riders withdraws from the meeting and they didn't race against each other. Then it will decided on count back (number of 1sts, 2nds, 3rds, 4ths and then any retirements or exclusions). Any level score pairings after this formula has been used will become null and void. Betting for the overall World Champion for any new players will end after the British GP. From the British GP onwards anyone picking all four GP finalist will receive a £5,000 bonus. No probs iceman I just wanted to make that everyone used all of available funds on their bets. All above bets have been placed.

No probs iceman All above bets have been placed. Just to remind everyone hasn't used all of their available funds. Under the new rules from this GP onwards your riders can't lose you any money. So please feel free to use of all your funds on your bets. In other words if your four picks fail to reach the GP final your funds just go back to what they were before you placed your bets. All winnings just accumulate onto your total. Players may change their bets amounts if they wish to - until I close all betting at the start of the GP. I now pay for all final places 1st - 4th. The winner of course getting their full odds price plus the place odds. £500 bonus for anyone picking all four GP finalists. I think it should the competition more fun. So bet away and good luck.
