  1. Rudy Muts, started his racing career in second halves at Wimbledon in 1976 and retired from British speedway in 1982. He only ever rode for Wimbledon although he did ride on the continental Europe and Australia. He was prevented from riding in the National League due to his nationality. Two major issues may prevent any rider solely riding for just one team. Firstly, if they start riding in a lower league they may improve and want test themselves against better riders, thus causing them to move teams. Secondly, the track they started racing for may sadly close down. These two points would have affected most iders during their careers. for example Peter Collins who started riding for Rochdale Hornets, not only did he move upto riding for Belle Vue but also Rochdale who were basically a disguised Belle Vue Colts team closed down.
  2. This video is on YouTube at the following address https://youtu.be/4tYucGxToC4 I aslo remember a Mars bar advert being made at Wimbledon that was once bradcast on national TV.
  3. Hi pardons if you are on about the book 'Tommy Jansson The Legend Who Died Young' then I do have and read this extremely interesting and informative book about Tommy that I would highly recommended to anyone that remembers him racing.
  4. And today marks 44 years since the passing of Tommy Jansson. A true Wimbledon legend that had so much ahead of him to achieve.
  5. The copyright issue will always be a problem when listing other people's material. it would be nice to be able to publish all my race jackets in time when I have completed all the British League teams but getting the correct copyright permission will I think make this impossible. But I there is no law being breached by creating and wholly usingand strictly them for my own personal use.
  6. Hi Pardons I have completed the Wolves race jackets from 1965 - 1977 and Crayford 1968-76 ialsonisde all of Wimbledon's. If I have time i upload a video of Wolves, Crayford and Wimbledon 1974 them to YouTube later on today.
  7. Hi Steve this is a very good idea but unfortunately I do not an extensive programme collection for all of the teams from the 1970s maybe another forum member might be able to help with this, as it would be extremely nice to see all these programme covers.
  8. And Rudy Muts who was a Wimbledon second halver in 1976 went on to ride at number 1 for the team at least once
  9. This YouTube video has been updated to include some changes that were required at the following address. Due to me updating my windows operating system I did miss some adjustments made by members this has now been recitified. https://youtu.be/aJxu3owUq5g
  10. Pleased that you enjoyed the trip down memory lane. I was going to use the Top of the Pops theme tune but I prefered Baze Away. Yes, it was a shame that more did not engage they cannot moan if their team did not make the top 30 race jackets if they dd not vote, but not to worry and thanks Steve or your vote. Now back to other things.
  11. Here is a picture of Terry Mussett in Wimbledon colours from the Wimbledon programme Dons v Stoke (National League) 30 July 1986. He also rode for the Dons in 1987 and 1988.
  12. As not many people have bothered to vote i have closed the voting as this topic is sinking faster than the Titanic. the top 30 race jacket video is now on YouTube for a limited time only at https://youtu.be/BdPJDoi3q-0 Many thanks to those forum members who voted.
  13. The Long Eaton (1965-67) the one with the Archer, and the Wolverhampton Wolves with blood dripping down its mouth are both also excellent designs. The Sheffield 1965-66 race jacket is certainly striking. And I also agree with steve roberts the Oxford Cheetah design is probably my favourite Oxford design.
  14. So true Cityrebel just by adding the words made all the difference to the race jacket. One of my favourite from prior to the 1970s is the 1969 Nelson bib that has a ship on the front of a blue race jacket.
  15. Please note that only fully completed top 10s will be counted. Many thanks for everyone that has voted so far. Just Halifax, Leicester and Reading to do tomorrow then i have completed all British League race bibs from 1965-68 now off to a much deserved rest.
  16. Sorry I was thinking about Eric Boocock and not Broadbelt when I replied earlier. I know there is no castle on the 1979 Halifax race jacket
  17. Hi Dc2 Eric Boocock would have ridden with Halifax race jacket between 1970- 74 and would not have used the 1975-78 version or the 1979 version. Chris Pusey would have ridden using the versions before 1979. Hope this helps
  18. Hi Salty It is all a very long time ago and everyone including myself get things slightly wrong. I glad that someone this icon Glasgow race jacket. I may be wrong but I think the tiger image from this bib is the only one to be later adopted by others teams namely Sheffield and Mildenhall. Jimmy Mcmillan was always one of my favourite riders to watch when I started attending speedway meetings in 1976 and would be in my top 10 British riders of the 1970s without any shadow of a doubt. I have already made the 1976 Coatbridge race jacket last year and be seen in my 1976 speedway race jackets on YouTube at the following address https://youtu.be/wSf0gkQXR-U Many thanks for taking the time to vote and it will be interesting to see what teams finshes as number 1
  19. Hi Salty Did you mean Romford 1970-71 as they did not race n 1973 Also just checked the Glasgow jacket for 1970-72 and they used the Tiger on their race bib that Mildenhall and Sheffield in 1976. Between (1977-79) Glasgow used a slightly different version using the same Tiger, which one do you want to vote for (70-72) or (77-79)?
  20. Any particular year for 1) Sunderland (1972) I have this one done for you already. 2) Ellesmere Port - Gunners 197? 3) Hull - Vikings 197? 4) Romford - Bombers 1970-71 5) Belle Vue - Aces 197? 6) Coventry - Bees 197? 7) Exeter - Falcons 197? 8) Berwick - Bandits 197? 9) Canterbury - Crusaders 197? 10) Reading - Racers 197?
  21. All changed now White Knight and you can include your own team. What year Ellesmere Port the yellow background or the red one? or the teams has some changed during the 1970s.
  22. Iris I 'am only going by what i can see online and image in the Speedway Star. Belle Vue 1970-76 and wembley 1970-71 are the same. Bristol 1977 & 1978 are also the same.
  23. DC2 Oxford were he rebels before moving to White City in 1976. I have no-idea why Wimbledon colours re red with a yellow star. Hopefully someone on here will be able to inform us. So far got some race jackets the last to do for now is Wolves 1972.
  24. Many thanks for your votes Steve Belle Vue 1972 and 1976 are the same so I have added these to mine. I have shared your points for White City (1976) (red) and Oxford (1972). I have just added to race jackets to Wimbledon video that can now be found on YouTube at https://youtu.be/YWxwJkCpOBs
  25. Please vote for a Top Ten in order, as i will counting your votes for your favourite race jackets.
