  1. That's spelt with an A! Though I notice that "Heedthebaw" (whatever that means) has not replied ...
  2. But where would they ride? The BSPA would 'black' any tracks with breakaway teams.
  3. True. At least the Birmingham promotion are trying to do something, even if no-one else is!
  4. ONE each. I spent a couple of years helping a rider in the MDL, and had to pay to get in. (It was I who paid as I am a pensioner and so paid less than the rider's father).
  5. Definately bad: there is no way that new riders - unless they have been riding grasstrack since childhood - can go straight into the National League without serving an apprenticeship in a Development League team. The fact is, that promoters couldn't care less about DL teams, even though it doesn't cost them a penny to run!
  6. And I gather that Tony Mole had to pay off his debts, and was not best pleased about that ... and the promoter in question did not seem at all bothered about all of this when posting on facebook!
  7. I doubt it - he wasn't very good as a rider! But I may be wrong.
  8. Which is what we did for one match last year. Set out early, had a day by the seaside ... mind you, I am retired
  9. National League matches tend to be completed more quickly than those in Higher leagues: the riders do as they are told!
  10. As far as we were concerned, it was to keep the dirt off the bike and tools! MDL riders didn't get to go in the pits ...
  11. I bought one for £5 in Asda ... we used that after the rider left the previous one at Scunthorpe!
  12. National League riders are obliged by the promoters to have two bikes, vans etc. As for F2, two valve engines or whatever: the question is, who is going to pay for them? You are in a chicken and egg situation, as beginners start with second-hand equipment, but ther is no s/h F2 or fancy engines available for them to buy! A pre-used Jawa bike will cost about £1000 or a GM, £1500, as opposed to £5000 just for a new engine. It just isn't on. As for fallers: of course beginners are going to fall, but any standard bike is going to throw the rider off if he mishandles it. I spent five years helping a rider (who got to MDL level); the GM bike he bought turned out to have an Ashtech engine, GP standard. Although he was faster than most of his contemporaries, he actually never dared to open the throttle fully! Other beginners are probably the same.
  13. Big trouble ... I usually park outside the tile warehouse on the A34, and go round the block via Church Road on my way home (being too tight to pay for parking at the stadium).
  14. On the other hand, we will be rebuilding Hadrian's Wall, and reviving the law which said that Scots could be shot on sight.
  15. Are those actually Scots? I thought that Rothery was a Cumbrian, and Flint a Nothumbrian. They don't sound Scottish!
  16. I quote: Almost finalised . Apologises for delay but Peter and David been busy moving their business to a factory and we will have it sorted fully in next few days .
  17. Hardly: £150 for a round of golf? £40 (cheap seats) for a football match? Speedway is dirt cheap.
  18. This question has been answered by Laurence Rogers in the Birmingham forum.
  19. The definition of 'contaminated waste' is fairly wide. The same thing happened at Perry Barr stadium when the track was built in 2007: the soil was said to be 'contaminated' and could not be removed from the site. It was piled up to one side; this is what the embankment by the second bend is. Contrariwise, when I was a child (many years ago ) there was a banking all of the way round the track; this was apparently demolished and sold for hardcore! A long time ago ...
