  1. Why scrap a thread that exposes the myth that riders are well paid; the majority are not and maintaining a speedway bike(s) is fairly expensive.
  2. Time will tell if you are right or wrong. If it is a visa issue it is between the employer and the employee to get it right; I don't believe the BSPA sacked Roynon?
  3. Fair comment, your answers on a postcard line can be read a number of ways All I'm saying is that the full facts are not known so until they are it's difficult to know what is going on. There is clearly some sort of issue though and if it is around Visas then that may be serious. The bigger issue for me is the appalling way speedway treats its riders; hire and fire at will; ban them if they withhold services; its like going back to the days of the masters and the serfs!
  4. I don't think it is the real issue at all; the real issue is British bosses wanting to pay peanuts to line their own pockets and British workers not being prepared to join trade unions to protect themselves. This aligned with British workers no longer wanting to be fruit pickers, street cleaners, etc means that we need EU employees or our economy collapses. If we ban all foreign works as some people want where are we going to put the 5.5 million British workers that will be sent back to this country from abroad? Why blame the BSPA? If there is a transgression of Visa rules that is down to the rider and his employer. It seems a lot of people are looking to apportion blame before the facts are actually public knowledge. From my experience of this forum this usually indicates a promotion have leaked to their mates so that when it all comes out in the wash they have already pointed the finger of blame elsewhere. They then hopefully get off looking squeaky clean. Time will tell what the problem really is.
  5. European citizens have the same rights to work here as we have to work in their countries i.e. full rights.
  6. No idea; work it out for yourself; but if SMOD is right it seems a very odd situation to get yourselves in.
  7. SMOD is suggesting Proctor may not be correctly registered and Roynon was sacked; so how can they have RR for someone who isn't part of their team?
  8. It was kind of one of the regular posters to point your post out to me; so a big thanks you to Stan Dandycomic or whatever his name is. Roynon copping a ban is pure BS I don't quite understand why people are suggesting that will happen. He was sacked hence he is not required to report for duty Captain Mainwaring. If as you state there is a need for a different kind of visa that will be interesting; I don't know how it applies to speedway but it is relatively easy to get a visa for foreign nationals providing you can prove that a British/European citizen does not have the skills to do the job. I assume it must be different for speedway as Roynon can clearly show he has the skills to perform as a speedway rider; yet he has been sacked and replaced by a foreigner. Better tell UKIP quickly so that their leader with the German wife can do a new advert. I can see it now; Adam Roynon sat on the pavement with his best kevlars on, helmet by his side, begging for money as some foreigner has nicked his job! Gotta be a vote winner in the current climate. Roynon has been treated disgracefully in my view. That's why its a committee! The deal is you don't ask the question to individual members, you ask the question of the committee; then hopefully they come back with one answer.
  9. It's good to see your posts are up to their usual standards.
  10. Having read through a number of threads today it seems you have a problem with Cradley and Pearson is this something you need to tell us about? Your numerous innocently written posts have a common theme of seemingly encouraging Cradley supporters to question the motives of Pearson and his colleagues; as you are not a Cradley supporter what's your interest?
  11. From what has been posted on this thread it appears the key man behind the new promotion (Mr Clifton-James to those in the know) thinks all was all right last night!
  12. If a government or a local council want something to be done they will carry the risk and the money will be found. Generally they worry about how they will recoup the outlay afterwards
  13. I think the professionalism probably went when they dumped the person who actually saved the club!
  14. You miss the point completely. In your desire to criticise Hoggart you are in fact using him as the scapegoat for Machin's lack of interest over the last four years. Machin was the boss; it wasn't a partnership of equals. It's a bit like the General lumping the blame on the troops for his bad strategy! It's clear that you don't like Hoggart, that's your choice, but don't start blaming him for other people's issues. We don't know what the new promotion promised Hoggart as part of the purchase/partnership discussions; we do know that they used him to front every press release and he was clearly the key man for them during the negotiation. The Sheffield Star article makes it clear that they did not discuss his departure with him; that is poor by anyone's standards. Understandably many are just happy they've got speedway; some are pleased they are seeing the back of specific people because of conflicts they have had and are gloating; guess where I think you are on this?
  15. I've been reading some of the stuff posted on this thread and have been astounded. You have to congratulate Machin on his disappearing trick; he seems to have disappeared completely, in fact he seems to have disappeared three or four years ago. That must be the case because a few posters like you are blaming Hoggart for Machin's failure to invest in his business. As I understood it Machin's money, Machin's business, Machin's rules, so guess who is responsible for the decline at Sheffield? Following your logic I suppose that'll be the tea lady in the main stand is it?
  16. You really are a bufoon Elephantman; how could you possibly expect some of the BSF membership to be able to get their head around such a simple issue?
  17. Unfortunately this forum has a history of posters that have at best been misleading in what they write and at worst positively vitriolic. On top of that in the past some promotions have clearly used the forum as a tool in their war against fellow promoters (i.e. the BSPA.) I have not posted for a long while because it became clear that most of the posts that covered anything other than match reports were usually based on half truths or on what people wanted to believe rather than facts. If you respond to anything that you later find out is wrong then fundamentally you have wasted a chunk of your life; mine is too short to do that
