  1. Well done to Berwick - by far the best team on the night and only Summers kept us in the meeting. However If I were a Bandits fan I would be disappointed with the result as 4 points were easily available, Vissing and Wethers very poor and team manager abysmal, obvious to everyone Kus should have had 7 rides and Jensen/Bellego 5 each. Extra point may not be crucial, but who knows?? Certainly when Bandits face tougher opposition they need their troops marshalling with much better efficiency. Good Luck to Bandits for the play offs - lets keep the power in the North
  2. Perhaps I may have distorted the issues, it is probably more likely that Ipswich requested the release, as they would not get a facility as Ellis is the lower reserve, and Ellis would (I assume) be able to earn more riding for Ipswich so he would be ok going along with this. Therefore it would be down to Redcar to make the request, having been turned down previously I guess they didn't even try this time. As to his "wild and wacky accusations" I think the repercussions from his comments speak volumes for how wild and wacky they really were
  3. As per previous post - no fiddle at all. If anything the "fiddle" is Lakeside releasing Ellis and then using Paul Starke - if he is likely to outscore what Ellis would have got! Re rest of your post I think it will be a tight meeting and probably depends more on how the Bears (especially Lemon, Gravesen & Pijper) perform
  4. Apparently Ellis asked to be released to ride for Ipswich and this this was agreed by Lakeside, Nilsson I assume would have told Lakeside he had to ride in Sweden prior to agreeing deal - it seems Sweden always takes priority (note Mellgren is missing for Rye tonight) -on what basis Newman is guesting I know not why!
  5. Swindon v Lakeside tonight isn't a re-arranged meeting, therefore Lawson has to ride for Lakeside and facility available. On Bank Holiday Monday Swindon v Lakeside IS the re-arranged meeting and Lawson has stated he will be riding for Redcar at Scunthorpe.
  6. No need to apologise - we've been struggling since Kozza cocked up his visa and then really struggling when someone thought Konopka was a suitable replacement
  7. Good Shout - no changes to these for me - except maybe some spelling
  8. Best Wishes to Lewis, any update on how he is? He was really committing himself on Thursday and very unlucky to have chain go when going for a big blast round outside. There is a rumour that on returning to pits he was more concerned with his good looks rather than his injured wrist Always a welcome visitor at Redcar.
  9. Turned out to be an excellent meeting with very good racing, any neutral fans would have been well entertained. Diamonds definitely weakened with Kerr's absence, but r/r for Lemon and Cook in for King, potentially close match up, once we went to Bach and Blackbird looked an easy win for the Bears. Blackbird chain break changed whole meeting (best wishes to Lewis) and with 12 heats to go Bears looking at 8 heats with either no second rider or Konopka (not much difference in two options!!) match was there for Diamonds to take a win. Stand up all 5 Bears (including Rafa - whose 2 points, both earned, proved to be ultimate difference) who all contributed at vital times to produce top class rides to secure win, highlight for me Wilko going on a wall of death ride round airfence and grabbing heaps of drive to hold off Rose in heat 14. For the Diamonds I thought all six gave 100% and can't be faulted for effort, but they really will be feeling it was points dropped and not 1 gained. Majority of Bears fans, and certainly those round me, were content with a victory following Blackbird's withdrawal. Overall a 6-1 win over home & away league matches is a superb result against our nearest and dearest
  10. Unfortunately not been for 3 weeks (holiday then ill) but before that it starts good but rapidly loses dirt from inner half leaving a fast line round the boards (airfence)
  11. Don't remember it, but with BSPA may well have happened! Back to Thursday obviously r/r for Lemo is better than a NL rider, but still probably weakens the Bears. Kerr missing does on paper weaken Diamonds, but he was poor at Redcar earlier in season. Cook will strengthen Diamonds, although I was looking forward to seeing King, who knows he might have got a max, but Cook will score heavily. IMO Bears are favourites, but match will depend on Lindgren (who could score anywhere from 3/4 up to 17/18) and Rose plus two reserves, if any of these gives Cook and Robbo good support then Diamonds may nick it. Lets have a good track, decent weather and a good, safe meeting
  12. As per discussions on another thread re averages it would appear to be another "lets make a new rule up that isn't listed anywhere!!" I can't recollect this scenario actually happening in the past, so when are you thinking of when facility wasn't granted?
  13. Yes that's the point I was trying to make - you seem to have phrased it a lot more concisely And your second comment is exactly why speedway needs to be clear on it's interpretation of the rules, as a self governing sport with some participant tracks having higher representation at the management level, accusations can soon start when you get "shady" decisions which can benefit a team. Again let me stress I am not suggesting Newcastle, their promotion or Danny King have done anything wrong or tried to "use the system"
  14. Well it's an explanation, although it does raise a load of questions/queries! If average is converted why didn't it then start to be amended every month once meetings had been ridden, rules to me imply the starting point of 4 home & 4 away only apply to assessed averages? Rules state assessed average for riders transferring between leagues, when does this apply and when do you get a converted average?? Looks like another make it up as you go along job! Finally - just to state not having a go at King or Newcastle at all, just bemused by the way our sport chooses to interpret it's own rules All the Best - Mr Baffled of North Yorks -
  15. All very confusing - rules state a rider gets an assessed MA (average) for, amongst other criteria, "transfers between leagues" so that seems straightforward. Following on rules state " AN EL or PL rider starting the season with an assessed MA will have a new established MA upon completing 4 home and 4 away fixtures, which becomes effective 7 days after the last qualifying meeting" Only loophole I see is the "starting the season" however Konopka didn't start the season and he got a new average in line with the 4 home and away meetings, As we are now 7 days on and it's all quiet I assume King's new average will be applicable from 1st August, but as to why, it's another speedway rule mystery???
  16. Wasn't King due to get his "proper" average after Sheffield last week?? If so choice of guests will be more limited?
  17. Good win for the diamonds, wasn't expecting quite that scoreline. Seems like no-one told scunny riders that Newcastle track is a bit tighter than their own
  18. You would have thought Rye House would have known about the Colombia Uruguay match in advance and not left it till this late in the day to call match off. Very shoddy
  19. "...... then find out that the paramedic was drunk......"
  20. Very interesting comment in Redcar programme last night about the major talking point of this meeting.. Obviously Richard Lawson isn't being left to stand alone on this topic
  21. It has got lost with all the interest in other quotes, but there is a valid point raised - if a result is going to be declared surely it would make sense to have heat 11 as cut off. At heat 10, 3 riders are scheduled to have only had 2 rides each, and the away team in theory does have a stronger line up in heat 11, so should they not be given the opportunity to run that race. Granted at the end of heat 11 both number 2s have had 4 rides compared to all the rest only having 3 each, but at least it is equalled out on both sides. I realise the poor promoters who have to fork out for another heat, and some tracks may have to bend their curfew rules a bit further but imo it does seem a fairer time to call a halt Thank you, in that case I have no issues with curfew being abided to ( but see my further post on relevant heat!!) unless your watch was set to Berwick summer time
