  1. Even though defeated this was an enjoyable match, especially at reduced cost of £5! From a Redcar point of view - before meeting most were predicting/expecting a 10-12 point defeat and realistically we needed everything to go our way to get close to beating a witches team that always go well on our track - and I don't mean getting dubious decisions in our favour, as I thought ref got everything spot on, I mean all close battles coming our way - this was almost the case and if Roynon and Kus had got slightly better gates in last two heats, we may have secured a surprise win. I think all 7 gave it their best and that is all you can ask for, plus track was drastically improved, smooth, bit dusty (more water please not just a fine spray) but wonder wheel does make a big difference, and not a lot of passing, but if improvements can be continued then we may get back to the racetrack that can be one of the best in the league. Ipswich - King top class and very well backed by Covatti, however if a witches fan I would be concerned as they really should have won this far easier and got the additional point, big advantage they had was strength at reserve and ultimately this is what won through for them - Manizares and Tungate very disappointing from riders who have gone very well before and Heeps would have got more than the 4 they secured from r/r. Have seen a lot of flak aimed at your team manager, I think he did everything right last night, so give him some credit for a change! Overall a draw may have been a fair result, but well done to witches for their win and best wishes to Nielsen on his blown motor and injury, hopefully he is able to compete in qualifier this weekend
  2. Belle Vue have also got two double up riders Cook/Grazjonek so Frickle can't currently ride PL aswell
  3. Sorry mate, but you really are dreaming - the three riders you mentioned are all ineligible to double up/down, as they carried over an average in excess of 6.00 from last year
  4. Reported that Graversen is riding on Saturday, so should be in at Rye
  5. Bet Rye House are well pleased with Plymouth's antics and ending up with one reserve!!
  6. I realise it's potentially egg on face time to try and understand rules on averages, BUT my take is that Bellageo was replace on 28 day rule by Garrity, therefore he can come as a straight replacement for Garrity, HOWEVER if he is going to come back in place of another rider (ie Proctor) then it's a redeclaration and total team needs to be under 42.50 - even though his average is less than Proctors!! As I said I may well have this wrong, so happy to be corrected (but not by a high ranking official )
  7. Who do you have down as Proctor's replacement?? My reading of new averages rules out Garrity!!
  8. From observations I think it was a mix - certainly body language suggested Kus and Bach were not happy and others aswell. just want to add - that isn't meant in any way as a dig at Kus & Bach
  9. Just posted this on updates site: Hi Thanks to updater for making sense of my texts with weird words coming from predictive texting!! I understand he had some technical issues getting updates on - it wasn't as drawn out as it may have appeared - but it was close. Still don't know what caused the problem, it was obvious from entering the arena that work was ongoing and a small blade was scraping dirt off, then the big blade came out and set to on bends 3/4 - As I texted no announcement at all was made until 7.25, however as riders were not changed it didn't take a genius to work out we were delayed. Once we got going imo some riders seemed fine (Howarth, Wells, Bjerre, Robson) others hadn't a clue (Roynon) and others were obviously not happy (Kus, Bach)- reserves just got round best they could - we then had to wait while ref looked at track, went back to pits, came out and looked at track, went back to pits and again it was obvious a number of riders were putting their point forward = eventually it was announced track had deteriorated!! and Meeting off Total Shambles - On behalf of all Redcar fans I would like to apologise to those visiting us for the farce they had to endure, make the most of the apology because its unlikely any other will be forthcoming!!!
  10. Totally agree, I see Sheffield are saying "senior officials" at BSPA told them he would be OK! Looks like they haven't learned that it's not the BSPA who are calling the shots in this matter, they should be speaking and getting confirmation from senior officials at UKVI !
  11. There are a few more riders who don't look too good, plus some fans
  12. There you go Tsunami - nothing to do with the track or stadia - its the nightlife
  13. If Konopka had eased off the throttle, then when Bates made his turn into corner he would have been totally wiped out! The only way to avoid a crash was for both riders to go round bend side by side, and for that to happen Bates needed to turn LEFT, not right as you point out he did, marginally earlier than Konopka. IF Bates had leaned when Konopka did to take the bend and turned LEFT they stood a chance of entering bend together, however Bates didn't want to allow Konopka round top of him (quite understandably) and therefore tried to push him out which as we all saw resulted in coming together and both coming off. I don't think in any way it was dirty, but he tried to be hard and "bully" Konopka, but just didn't quite have track position (and skill) to do it, likewise Konopka didn't have skill to get himself out of the position he was in and get round Bates. Ultimately totally correct decision by ref as one of them had to go. Or do they just like the Quayside
  14. If a referee genuinely can't distinguish who is at fault, then maybe he needs to exclude both riders!! Now that decision would lead to a new set of issues
  15. I think has the makings of a really close encounter, prior to Hansen's withdrawal Comets had to be strong favourites, Hansen not riding certainly evens it up and without Graversen you have the uncertainty of what our reserves will do (and that really is anyone's guess) as they will be featuring 11 times !!! Don't get too downhearted Comets fans - things could be worse - you could be a Bears supporter
  16. Ironically I would say Redcar will be relatively competitive on their travels, they have shown up fairly well so far away from home. Probably mean they will now struggle to get 30 when visiting Ippo At home they are struggling and most, if not all, will come fancying their chances.
  17. Have to say it looked a very good stadium, however despite what the Chuckle Brothers spouted on about in commentary I was very disappointed in quality of racing, Gracjzonek apart no one was able to pass after first bend. plenty of close racing and does have potential to improve. Amazed at how biased TMs can be if Jack Lee wanted Konopka not to lean into bend (not Bates) he would probably have ended up in Edinburgh straight through fence!!
  18. Garrity was brought in as a replacement for Bellago, who is then entitled to replace Garrity at end of 28 days, IF Sheffield want to bring Bellago back and keep Garrity, that would mean Garrity would have to replace Proctor, and it would depend on his average being less than Proctor's (or total team being under 42.5), so I don't think at this stage we can say it "fits" This is my understanding, but happy to be corrected if wrong
  19. I think this year rule has changed so you can have a guest for either reserve - just to keep guest numbers up !!
  20. Why are you trying to look at this with a logical approach ?? The authorities running the sport have already shown that just because a rule exists, and to the vast majority appears very clear and concise, they come up with a different decision and then give no valid explanation, other than hiding behind the "it's in the best interests of the sport" I, and no doubt many others, would be interested to know who exactly are making these decisions, is it the whole MC? Or just a selection, consulted at the time? As all members of MC have a vested interest in what happens to other teams there is a real chance accusations of favouritism, discrimination or, dare I say, corruption could be raised, certainly when there appears to be such high levels of inconsistency with the rulings made.
