  1. The way I read the rule was that anyone with a starting average of over 6 was ineligible to get a converted PL average for the whole season. I think this is all related to the rule that you had to have an EL average from previous season to be eligible to double up/down (ie why Lambert was barred from joining Newcastle last year). I agree that common sense dictates thorsell should be available to ride, but with the ridiculous riding system in EL nowadays this can lead to averages becoming totally unrealistic depending on if you are in top 3 or not (hence easy/hard rides). Anyway - good luck to him, I think he will find PL a bit tougher than expected
  2. If this is true, then it appears rules have been ignored again When looking to convert an EL riders average to PL rules state 18.6.4 If a Rider has only an EL Established MA from the previous season, which must not exceed 6.00, then a conversion is necessary; the EL MA is multiplied by 1.4. Thorsell's end of season average was 6.25 - which by my reading of this rule means he is ineligible to double down, regardless of his current average, which has now dropped below 6.
  3. Can't see why Peterborough would need to object, surely team submitted (if including Greenwood) would just get rejected by BSPA as having a rider not eligible ??
  4. Roynon announced tonight he is at Redcar for rest of season
  5. Report says Hawkins gets on well with TM except for at meetings, from a neutral outsider's viewpoint maybe he would have been better off by foregoing captaincy and looking to concentrate on getting his own performances up to where you all think him capable, let TM get on and manage the team and don't worry about what he is doing. Maybe it is more to do with him losing rides??
  6. It really highlights the farcical way the sport is governed as baldy says why have "may" in any rule book, make it quite clear when the rule will be implemented. I agree imo Glasgow did not try and manipulate the averages, however due to Sarjeant missing so many matches through doubling up he did remain on his assessed average for an "abnormal" length of time compared to the matches ridden (likewise Lambert at Peterborough). Now if rule was clarified to say a new average would be implemented if a rider missed x amount of matches and team decided to redeclare then it would be clear to everyone. What I would be very interested to hear is when MC would deem it appropriate to use the rule??
  7. Not by my understanding of the team building rules - if you re declared now you would have Allen's 8.51 + Greenwood's 3.00 = 11.51 less 1.57 (difference between team total of 44.07 & permitted 42.50) giving you 9.94 for 2 riders so with Bowen say on 4.00 you have 5.94 left. To get Grondal in he would have to be Allen's replacement and then bring in another 3 pointer for Greenwood so you are not redeclaring just replacing like for like. Can't see this changing much in July's figures and once Lambert gets correct average situation will get considerably worse. Personally I think your management will have to go for a 3 point man at no.7 and my money is on Konopka!! (or Phillips )
  8. But won't happen - Panthers haven't enough points to make those two changes
  9. Morley and Graversen were NOT in several I was referring to - can't commemt on effort but from updates and results Morley totally exceeded what was expected/required from him!!
  10. Public thank you to Steve Worrall for turning up and giving Edinburgh fans some value for their admission fee, Seems several Bears couldn't be arsed tonight!!!
  11. What wrong with Kus?? Has the FIM said he can miss any matches for 24 hours due to watching Julie Lewis memorial trophy on live updates?
  12. My thought is fantastic to see Rusty back riding - when I read about accident and injuries I was convinced he would be out for season and probably quit altogether - Good Luck to him, hope it goes well
  13. It wasn't intended as a joke, it was a very serious posting!
  14. So you are saying "may" actually means "we will if the rider is increasing average, but we won't if he is decreasing it"
  15. The only problem being is that he is still choosing to ride for the Panthers (or not!!!)
  16. Or maybe this is part of the masterplan to conquer Elite League next season!
  17. So that's why he was at Redcar on Thursday
  18. Agree 100% Interesting point is would a team be allowed leeway in the other direction, ie 7pt rider obviously only being a 3pointer (Konopka springs to mind) would a team be allowed to bring in a rider to replace an injured team member and use say an extra 2 or 3 points over the limit?? Now that would cause some debate on here, but if the rule is there for fairness.......
  19. If a rider is missing due to doubling up you get a guest - ie Worrall - regardless of any other missing riders. Redcar got guests for Robbo when riding for Coventry, but ironically didn't get them when he was injured and couldn't ride for either!!
  20. I asked this before - why r/r for Worrall?? why not use a guest who goes well round Sheffield?
  21. I realise this may be a bit radical, but they could have gone to the tapes without having a 2 minute warning
  22. Konopka is now available, get him some "Motive" support with machinery and may be a useful 3pt reserve - however stand by for flak if replacing a young brit with a no hoper pole!!
  23. Thanks for your thoughts, without doubt a passionate reply. Not sure if "a question to you" was directed back to me, however if so then - in my opinion from an outsider looking in - he does appear to have more commitment to riding for Kings lynn and again imo I think he would have been back in that scenario, which is quite a sad comment for Panthers fans to hear. I actually agree that if this had been the first case of missing a meeting other than double up clashes then there may have been a bit more tolerance, but can fully appreciate the anger at basically being taken for mugs with all the excuses touted - always a very dangerous business giving reasons which can then be disproved!! As to excuses from footballers being too tired - don't get me on my soap box about that! I'm from an era when games were played Saturday, cup replay Monday, draw so another replay Thursday and then game on Saturday - now with the obscene money being paid they can't train for a few hours and then play twice a week - utter crap!!! end of rant
  24. Big collection today for Kozza judging by the paper filled buckets. Should put a smile on his face I hope and speed the healing.... That is excellent news, was anything further announced about a replacement?
