Eastbourne Vs Birmingham Saturday 1st July
Brummie Kev replied to Alex2000's topic in National League Speedway
Better than I thought, expected to lose by at least 10 so very happy with a point. I know we could have won but I would have bitten anyone's hand before the meeting for a point, it's the toughest track in the league to get anything from. We are still sitting pretty at the top of the league so happy days, just a shame we have playoffs. Someone mentioned Danyon Hume and what have we done to him. Well Hume has been revelation this year, 12 months a go he was a poor 3 pointer. Now he's a heat leader and it's all town to the poultec training he did in the winter, he's really come on leaps and bounds. Just want to wish Tom Brennan a speedy recovery, rotten luck to get injured like that in his first meeting. -

Kent Kings V Birmingham Nt Final 27th June 2016
Brummie Kev replied to blueherb777's topic in National League Speedway
Absolutely fantastic, so proud of all the riders. Must admit I didn't give them a prayer prior to this match. 4 point lead against a side so strong at home, I think it's safe to say we defied the odds tonight. Brilliant!! -
Coventry Storm V Birmingham - Sunday 26th June - 4pm
Brummie Kev replied to NeilWatson's topic in National League Speedway
Think many Coventry fans feel like that, as without the Brummies fans there today , probably looking at a crowd of a few hundred. How do they make NL racing pay on the crowds they get? Obviously after the drubbing the storm got today it's hardly gonna help that. It's a shame to be honest. Really pleased with Brummies, after being a bit lacklustre on Wednesday, can't fault any of them. Shocked by how good Perry and Bacon were after 3 or so weeks off. As for Coventry they were poor, Davey was good but what happened to Greenwood. Hope he's like that tomorrow guesting for Kent. Also what are people's thoughts regarding Jack Smith's exclusion. Excluded for going round the start gate post on the centre green when the tapes were down. I know there is a rule saying you can't go on the centre green but I thought it was to cut across. Has anyone seen riders do that and not get excluded for it. Anyway JPB did exactly the same thing just moments before Smith and wasn't excluded. -
Just saw on the bham mail facebook page that plans to demolish Hall Green stadium and build 200 homes have been rejected by the planning committee. 9 voted against demolishing it and only 2 for. Overwhelming victory

Birmingham Vs Kent - June 22nd (national Trophy Final)
Brummie Kev replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
Even though we won and beat a good side like Kent, I'm disappointed we threw away quite a few points with falls or poor performances. The track prepared was simply not good enough especially early on, seemed too patchy which caught our riders out more than Kent. It shot us in the foot. I was impressed with the two jacks, they both rode well as did Danyon Hume apart the one ride he came off. Too many bad rides though from a few in to top 5. Bearing that in mind it's pleasing we won but 4 points isn't enough to take down there. Just want to say what awesome performance from Danny Ayres. Unbeatable. -

Going by the main site it says Tom Perry maybe having a spin after the meeting depending on how he feels, will he be back for the second leg? -
I'm really gutted to hear that Brian, it would a terrible decision to demolish the stadium. Shame on the council if they did. Only positive is we had a recommendation for refusal to allow speedway at Perry Barr yet here we are today. I hope some of the Councillors on the committee are sympathetic

Brummie Kev replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
Take your son to the second leg, I obviously want the Brummies to win the trophy but if Kent have a good chance then it would be great for your son to see them win the trophy. Its how we get hooked on the sport as kids seeing moments like that. At end of day you can always record the football and watch it later. -

Brummie Kev replied to lucifer sam's topic in National League Speedway
Surprised there wasnt a thread started earlier with it being such an important meeting. We need a healthy lead to take to central park and we have a good choice of guest in Matt Williamson, he was excellent for Eastbourne the other week scoring 13+1. Kent are a top side, Danny Ayres especially is good here and last time round Luke Bowen was practically unbeatable. So this will be a tough one Weather is dry and sunny at the minute, hope it stays that way -
Birmingham V Eastbourne 01/06
Brummie Kev replied to Brummie Kev's topic in National League Speedway
Glad we got the win, I had no idea Danny Ayres missing until just before the start time. I think that weakened us considerably, his rider replacement only got 5+2. He was immense when Kent were here. That said well done for Eastbourne getting a point. The Jackson Smith first bend crash was absolutely horrific and I'm glad he and Darryl walked away from that. He went into the fence with such force that his bike was lodged on the top safety fence with the wheels in the air, two panels of air fence destroyed aswell. Thank god for air fences. I thought we rode alright tonight, Jackson and Darryl rode really well. We definitely had the upper hand with the reserves. Shocked with Charley Powell, he actually looked decent here last year in his guest showings. Williamson rode better tonight then he did for Belle Vue the other week and Jake Knight was impressive. Finally credit to the Eastbourne fans that made the trip up and were very vocal. Saw the same people as last year but also some more, great support. Always liked your fans, you made me feel welcome when I went there in the El days. Good run club aswell. -

I wish Tom Bacon all the best, a really nasty crash on the back straight. One of the worst I've seen in a while, it was said he was in severe pain in his ankle so hope scans arnt as bad as the injury sounds. Really proud of the Brummies tonight , they all dug in. Danyon coming on leaps and bound this season and showed it again. Really impressed with the two Jacks at reserve. Paid 19 for JPB tonight and beat Morley too. Shame we had a rubbish ref in Ronnie Allen, who missed various rolls by Branford before Ben Morley delivered the biggest roll in heat 15; speechless he never pulled it back. Also not awarded heat 2 cos only 2 laps then later in the meeting he awarded a race after the same situation. Is this his last year as a ref? If Tom is out then I would just use RR and guests. Just don't trust the BSPA MC, don't matter if a signing is within rules they will come up with any reason to block. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction!!! -

Drury has said we are running with rider replacement now which will be a while by the sounds of it. Its a shame that we are now basically a 6 man side which fans don't want to see but there very few options out there. Still the 6 riders we have been terrific this year and I hope that continues. It makes perfect sense to move Danyon to 4,hes bordering on being a heat leader with the form hes shown. Despite the powerhouse top 3 the Raiders have, I hope we can pull off the win tomorrow -
Complete joke!! , Im outraged to be honest. How fair is it that they can use an average so far back when the league has changed and he has as a rider. It seems the case now that if your face fits you get a certain rule and if it doesnt then you dont. Dont matter who runs the BSPA its the same old crap and on that basis they wont get a penny from me. Vested interests rules yet again.
-
I'm disappointed tonight to hear the BSPA have blocked Richard Hall`s move to Birmingham as a temporary replacement for the injured Tom Perry. They apparently are using a NL average obtained TWELVE years ago rather than his converted PL average. For me its absolutely ridiculous, firstly surely an average a rider obtained 12 years back isnt a true reflection of the rider he is now, the third tier wasn't even called the National League for godsake. The third tier like every other league isnt going to be the same league in the space of 12 years. In the Brummies press release the rule 19.8.2 which states: A rider's match average will be based upon their latest (attained during the seasons 2011-2015 ONLY) National League or Premier League match average (multiplied by two) So why are the using an average from 2004!!!, when Richard has a recent Premier League average, it flys in the face of that rule. Also how come James Purchase, Shelby Rutherford and Luke Clifton have been allowed into the National League on reassessed averages despite having ridden in the NL/CL before, 2009 in Rutherford case ? Absolute Shambles, one rule for certain clubs and another for others.

Fingers crossed for Hall Green Stadium, may have been decades since speedway was there but its still part of our history. Its very much a stadium that is in the heart of the community over the other side of Brum and I hope the council does the right thing and reject this application for houses.

Brummies V Bellevue Wed 18thmay
Brummie Kev replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Firstly fingers crossed Tom is okay, looked an awkward tumble and was given gas and air on the track, will be a loss if hes out for a while, hope he isnt. A few people have mentioned the slick and dusty track and early on it was very dusty without a doubt. I dont have any complaints, if anything I would the praise the trackman for getting this meeting on. Someone posted on Tuesday that the weather forecast for today was absymal so if your a speedway promotion looking to avoid a costly rain off, what are you going to do?. Your going make the slick and pack it down so there is every hope of it taking place. We got a meeting at the end of the day and its not ideal to have a dusty track but just one of them things when in the hours before the match the sun and wind affect it, Its a win and some good performances but I dont think we were firing on all cylinders. I was massively impressed with Danyon once again, I dont know why he wasn't selected for Heat 15 which I felt he deserved. Tom Bacon had a good meeting aswell, its good to see him getting it togethor at Perry Barr. Second time Ive seen Bewley and impressed once again, he is one heck of a gater at this level. Well done on your point, hope we can take some off you in August! -

Weather fine at the minute, hoping it stays that way. This has the makings of a good match. Saw Dan Bewley last week and was very impressed, such a talent. -
Only really went to Monmore tonight to see this kid and very impressed, he managed to beat Max Clegg in one of his rides. Defo one for the future

Alarmingly Low Crowds
Brummie Kev replied to remembertheracers's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Certaintly no alarmingly low crowds at Perry Barr this season, another really good crowd watched the two unbeaten teams in the Nl maintain there unbeaten starts to the season. Seeing the Brummies in past seasons race in front of much poorer crowds in a higher league , I know just what impact consistent poor crowds can have regarding the existence of your club. Its why having gone through it, where the Brummies are at the moment is the right place for seasons to come
