  1. The current system clearly doesn't work, I feel for the number 7s in this league as they must feel like lambs to slaughter. It amazes me you have riders averaging 8/9/10 in the National League but they struggle to muster much over then 3 in this league, Contrast that to the 8/9/10 pt PL riders that ride in the EL, do they only struggle much over 3? No they dont becuase the transition is easier them leagues buts huge between the the PL and NL that the sport needs to address. A top speedway rider doesn't just appear out of the National League, they need confidence and the right nurturing to make it. Both reserves should be NL riders, and two of their four rides should be reserve heats. The other two should against riders in the main body, at least in the reserve heats you have four riders of similar standard so closer racing then your heat 2s now. Whether you would keep them protected at reserve for the entire season Im not sure but surely that wont be as bad as it is now where their confidence is being shot to pieces week in, week out.
  2. Pretty easy win as expected win as expected but gotta say fair to Buxton, they came and gave it all. Looks like their 16 year old team manager Josh Moss made an impression on them. How must Lee Dicken feel to have manager whos 21 years his junior
  3. Is this about Injury problems though?, maybe Kent had a genuine reason to call it off on the 22nd but its not now. The other thing said by the Brummies is a Kent rider has holiday booked for the 22nd and they dont think the meeting should take place. I dont think that is an acceptable to call a meeting off when we went there without one our main riders, Tom Perry,as he couldnt get time off from his day job. Now just to rub salt into the wound we have somehow agreed to going there on 12th September with it now being the second leg. We batter most teams at home but Kent are the one side that have run us very close on two occasions, 45 all draw and 47-43. With the riders they have they can easily keep it close in the first leg so then its advantage Kent. Total farce
  4. Im just glad the Villa played at home tonight and not tomorrow as the traffic was going down the Aldridge Road from the stadium almost to the wickes, big crowd 35k aswell. Thats the way i get to Perry Barr would have been a nightmare At least Buxton have Halsey, they have obviously have done their research. Blacklock will get stuck in, hes looked decent here before. Not sure about Dicken, wasnt pretty impressive at the fours.
  5. The minute they named their side for the Belle Vue match, Peter Morrish should have been on the phone to Len saying the Brummies are there next week. Theres no reason whatsoever why its not taking place now Kents injury crisis is thankfully better. As far as im concerned they better hope that when it is staged we have a full side, theres no PL clashes/injuries or rider holidays. The precedent has been set now by Mr Morrish, if its a big meeting and a side has a riders out or unavailable it MUST be cancelled and rearranged
  6. I was so impressed with Jack Parkinson Blackburn tonight, what a future he has in speedway. He can come to Monmore, ride it for the first time scoring 11+5 and hes not even 16 yet. He looked at ease on the track. Some solid performances from Danyon and Tom Bacon, I didnt get the feeling its a type of track that Danyon enjoys given his riding style so hes done well tonight. We have struggled for guests all season apart from Dan Halsey who did well the other home match. I would use R/R from now on, Buxton site says we are using it Wednesday
  7. Ellis Perks rode straight into shuttleworth on bend 2. Both riders down, as perks is on the ground shuttle worth starts on him by pulling his arm as if to make him get up. Then both punching and kicking each other before its broke up. Also it seemed a rider went into the crowd after something was said to Perks. Well done Raiders, much deserved. I agree with the comments about the ref. Some of his decisions were shocking.
  8. Good to see Tom Bacon finally get a deserved PL meeting, been in terrific form in the National League of late. Didnt disgrace himself either and hopefully gets more chances at this level. Well done Tom
  9. I think its gonna be a cracker, hope Monmore is packed out. We should have the riders to get pretty close to Cradley, a few ex heathens aswell. Im not sure who will be the guest for Zach or whether Drury opts to use Rider Replacemnt at 1. I would probably pick Ellis Perks, rode well for the budgies there the other week and was brilliant at Perry Barr the other day.
  10. Hope theres a decent crowd for this, I'll shall be there to cheer on the Brummies. I think Ritchings should have been picked, his form did dip a fair bit but he rode well last Wednesday plus he knows his way round Brandon being an ex storm rider. Danyon Hume is a massive loss though
  11. So that means the ko cup against the Brummies will take place on 22ND now?
  12. Good to see a "fans questionnaire" on the Brummies site from the promotion trying to reach out to fans that once went. A few questions about a Thursday race night and also about moving up to the Premier League. It was in the local media last week that its being considered for 2017. Hopefully many fans whether they go every week or dont go, fill out the questionnaire and the club take all views on board. http://www.birminghambrummies.co/news.php?extend.2329
  13. The young stars were awful, really didn't expect that scoreline as they are a decent side on paper. Bailey, Stokes and Kinsley are 7 pointers but all 3 didn't perform. Greaves the only one you could say was anywhere near decent!! Thanks to Danny Halsey on what was a top notch guest display. The two standout riders for the Brummies were Danyon and JPB, best I've seen JPB this year.
  14. I think it will be closer then perhaps many would think. The young stars are a decent side, with riders that have gone well here before. Looking forward to seeing Bailey ride again, good young racer. Will be interesting to see how Halsey goes. He was superb last week so very much hoping for a repeat performance.
  15. I never take anything for granted where speedway is concerned lol
  16. Wasn't sure about this one with us missing Zach and Tom but how wrong I was. We have so many riders now that can rise to the occasion when we are missing key riders like Zach and Tom. God I love this team!!
  17. People should post though because if they don't a bully boy like UK Martin wins. Just put the idiot on ignore like I do so we dont see the negative drivel he puts about the club he once loved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firstly would like to wish Connor Mountain all the very best, it was a nasty crash and a crash that ive seen at Perry Barr sadly before. He went quite wide going into the third bend and the unfortunately then lifted and ploughed into the main straight fence. The county ambulance that came took an age to leave so I was hopeful it wasn't a bad one but he has a broken bone in his back. The second crash which was just as bad looking was heat 14 when Alfie Bowtell collected both Jack Smith and Darryl Ritchings in the first bend which also saw an air fence panel destroyed. Thankfully the riders got up quick and were okay as it looked a bad one. As 60-30 meetings go, I would say that has to be one of the better ones. A decent nights racing, Mildenhall did better then the score suggests. Connor Coles and Dan Halsey were the standouts but they all gave it everything after they lost mountain. Really good from the Brummies and yet again Tom Bacon proving how improved a rider he is. I had a brief look in the Brummies programme earlier but I think hes scored about 60 points in about 6 meetings. Hes averaging 10 at the minute and how long will it be before he gets a deserved PL call up.
  18. Couldn't see a thread so here it is. Tony Akin guests for Zach and is a good choice of guest. Shouldn't be as easy as last week, Mildenhall are a decent side BIRMINGHAM: Tony Atkin, Tom Bacon, Danyon Hume, Darryl Ritchings, Tom Perry, Jack Smith, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn. MILDENHALL: Jon Armstrong, Connor Coles, Chris Widman, Connor Mountain, Danny Halsey, Alfie Bowtell, Luke Ruddick.
  19. He's broken two fingers but it's not known how long he will be off for. Wish him a speedy recovery
  20. Jack said in the Brummies programme tonight that the Kent fans turned nasty when he and Luke Bowen came together in one race and then he came round in heat 14 to wave to the crowd and they started verbally swearing at him and making hand gestures, Jack obviously then responded himself which he regrets. Hes apologized in the programme tonight for anyone hes offended but he said a young rider starting out at this level shouldn't he subjected to that. From what I read, the ref on Monday missed the incident but was alerted to people in the box who did see it. The ref contacted drury who then asked Jack if he did make gestures and he admitted it. The ref couldnt fine a rider if he didnt see the incident happen himself. Jack has assured Graham it wont happen again. I could post what the Judge said in his notes ( he dont hold back) but i realize he dont have many friends on here so could make things worse. He categorically denies time delaying tactics. So if we can defend an 18 point lead in Manchester against the Colts in the KO cup we face Kent
  21. Apparently hes contracted to Lakeside " under Eastbournes control" which I find odd to be honest and Im not sure can be true. Im pretty sure there was a ruling last winter that came out of the EL/PL agm which said standalone NL clubs cannot sign riders as assets anymore, must say it was nice that they even consulted NL teams about it. Anyway I cant see how Martin Dugard can claim hes his rider, its purely a matter between Lakeside and Somerset as who BWD belongs to.
  22. I couldn't agree more with what you say about Jack. I don't agree with any rider making rude gestures towards the crowd whatever the provocation although in this case there's anonther story disputing that. I also don't agree with fans booing and abusing riders whether its their own or the opposition (even brummies fans), I think Kent fans have a beef with Jack even before Mondays match as the texter to the updates site said in Jack's very first race that "Smith at it again", what does he mean by that? Theres no way any rider goes out there with the intention to hurt another rider, sometimes over exuberance and lack experience can play a part especially if its a rider in his first season in the sport. I say people lay off him. The other Jack, JPB said on facebook yday that he was booed by Kent fans on monday and doesnt know why, can anyone shed any light?
  23. Shame it was called off but understandable given the wet weather but just want to say how good has Tom Bacon been this year. He was fantastic last night, really good from the gate which was all important.
  24. If Buxton were to sign Richard Hall then do you reckon all the people that said he shouldn't ride in the National League change their tune, including a current NL promoter who has an axe to grind with the Brummies and Graham Drury? I personally wouldn't have any issues, hes out of work and would be a good signing for Buxton if his 2004 CL average fits
