Premier League Pairs

This should be a good meeting, really cant pick a winner so many good pairings. I do think brummies stand a decent chance, Lyons has a fantastic record at somerset and Piszcz has been great this season. Our record in the super 7s since our relauch has been dire, (only really Lyons in 2007 PLRC) we are due a good event. Hopefully a podium place at least for brummies. -
Hope Ludvig Lindgren has a decent meeting for Dackarna tonight, tough line up for him. Hes starting to show some form in Britain, good to see him busy riding in his home country and also riding in his first Polish meeting on sunday for Zielona Gora ( I think). Hes one of my favourite riders and its good to see him doing well at the moment.

A decent opening meeting tonight, plenty of heats from the gate but there were some excellent heats. Heat 9 was a very good one, Howe making an absolute mare of a gate, even outgated by Ben Taylor. He then chased down Taylor passed him then Ksiezak and only just missed out to Lindgren on the line. Heat 12 was another decent one, Compton made a cracking gate but he was chased down Barker. Barker was very erratic tonight but in that heat he gave Compton a real run for his money but Compton held on. I thought Heat 20 was the pick, Ullamek was away after the first bend, Lyons and Howe were wheel to first lap. Lyons pulled away from Howe but Ullamek was some way clear. Lyons then proceed to chase down Ullamek getting closer and closer but Ullamek held on just. One more lap and I think he would have caught him. Theres no doubt Ullamek deserved to win the tonight, showed his class. Parker as ever did extremley well at Perry Barr, I wish he wasnt retiring at the end of the season. Compton I thought was Brilliant, Gating was good and theres no doubt he will do a very good job at Workington. Howe was a bit disapointing, looked fast in some heats but was inconsistant with his gating. James Wright was very good, on the pace all night always seems to do well at Perry Barr. Franc got better in his last two rides not great early on. As for the brummies, Lyons was excellent gave it his all in heat 20 to chase down Ullamek . Piszcz looked good pity he fell in heat 7 as he would have gone round the lot of them, think he will average 9 in the PL this season. Lindgren for me showed glimpses of his talent, gating was fine even in his fourth ride when he came last. He just went too ride on turn 2 and lost position. He looked slow in some rides, espcially last one. Sweetman and Ksiezak were hit and miss, Ksiezak had mechanical problems in last two hopefully they will get better. Didnt expect too much from Ben Taylor and Mroz in this meeting.

You would think Ulamek would be the hot favourite as hes a GP rider this year but I think it will close. Its a well balanced line up, theres quite a few that have a good chance of winning it, Howe will have a battle on to retain the trophy I think. I cant see Ben Taylor and Marek Mroz doing much in the meeting with that line up but as long as they show effort, I`ll be happy. Also I hope Ksiezak,Lindgren and Sweetman can perform better then they did at Rye House, it should be a excellent meeting.

A meeting Im very looking forward to, its good to start the season with an individual. This has been a good meeting in the two years its been run and it should be good to see some elite league riders along with PL riders. Its still quite early , so we wont know the line up for another 3-4 weeks at least. All 7 brummie riders will race, but we dont even know the complete brummie team yet I hope its worth the wait . Probably David Howe will ride as he is the holder of the trophy, it gives the chance to the new brummie riders to get extra practice of the track before the series stuff begins at home. Looking forward to it, I wish it was next week.

I agree about the meeting being quite poor and it being from the gate most the time. The thing about this meeting you have to get there early, I dont know what time you got there but I got there at 6.30 and it was pretty packed then. The viewing isnt perfect at most stadiums. The point you have made about the atmosphere is frankly laughable. Whilst there were some birmingham fans there tonight, there were more EL fans then birmingham fans, so tell me superace why you are blaming birmingham fans for the lack of atmosphere. I was on the 1/2nd bend and it was very quiet there but once Jay Herne was announced the birmingham supporters made alot of noise. The EL fans were quiet most of the time, not all but most of them were. You say you were told its similar for PL matches, unless the person who told you means the atmosphere in the grandstand then they are wrong. I watch it outside, and the atmosphere for brum matches has been fantastic at times despite the airhorn ban. Why dont actually come down to a PL meeting and sample it for yourself. Judging by your last sentance that seems unlikely sadly. -

Just got back, Well done to Crumpy on the win, who was very good. Big shame the racing wasnt good probably one the worst meetings of the season in terms of passing most of it was from the gate. The track looked really slick, I have'nt seen it as that slick for quite a long time, its normary got a lot more dirt on for brummies meetings. To be fair the weather wasnt good in the build up to the event. Still the club put on a good show and good to see Perry Barr so full. The viewing wasnt as bad as I thought it would be on the 1/2nd bend with the airfence. They put wooden planks to stand on so its slightly more raised and it wasnt too bad, perhaps we can have an airfence in 2009. The home straight looked packed I normally stand there, but I can imagine the view would be restricted a bit. I thought the wolves riders would have put up a better showing, good to see rory scheiln doing so well, he looked very quick as did bjerre. On a real postive note, hardly any crahes tonight I think Danny King came down in a race and crump came down in the final in the first run of it. Theres been so crahes here this year, but great to see no major crashes. It might have been slick but it was well prepared.
