Save Our Speedway-sign Petition
Brummie Kev replied to kiwi's topic in International World of Speedway
Just Signed your Petition, I certainty wish you all the best. Its a situation that me and other Brummies fans know only too well with our council on our backs regarding noise. Its the reason why New Silencers have been introduced to help to save our club when our council come to decide later in the year. -
Super Sevens
Brummie Kev replied to shady's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I just hope we qualify as we have missed out on the fours in 2008 and 2009, should be a cracking day. -

Quite Happy the Fours are back at Peterborough, a superb race track and hopefully we will have another brilliant meeting. -
Super Sevens
Brummie Kev replied to shady's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
It would be hard for us to stage a Super 7 when we are staging Dudley Heathens matches as well. I reckon if we suffer alot of rain offs we might even see a few of those Heathens moved to Monmore Green so impossible to stage a Super 7 on the existing planning permission. -

Cardiff 2010 Hotels
Brummie Kev replied to flagrag's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I dont think this hotel is booked http://www.superbreak.com/hotels/legacy_ca...-hotel-7180.htm We booked about a week ago so I would think there would be places left. Its only a 15 minute car journey from the centre of Cardiff in a place called Tongwynlais and is situated just off the M4 at junction 32. The only thing is like most hotels they have hiked the prices up for 10th July, we are paying £60 a night to stay there so thats over double the normal price but it does allow us to go to Newport on the Sunday. -
2010 Grand Prix wildcards
Brummie Kev replied to gaztrotter's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think the selection of Chris Harris for a wildcard is a joke, how can his selection be justified after the year he just had. Finishing in the top 8 should mean something but every year certain GP riders get chance after chance. I dont care what nationallity the wildcards are, I want to watch riders that deserve to be there on merit. I think its a year too early for Tai but I hope he does well. Dont get wrong Tai will be a top rider but I just think he would be better prepared if 2011 was his first season in the GPs. My picks would have been: Lindgren,Andersen,Zagar and Lindback -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
Brummie Kev replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Personally I wouldnt select any Brits for the GPs as none of them are remotely good enough. People keeep on talking about Lee Richardson but just because hes done well in Poland and Sweden that doesnt mean he will be any good in the GPs next year. Edward Kennett for the GP series, I never heard something so ridiculas in all my life. Whoever next James Wright or even Chris Schramm . I think its too early for Tai Woffinden even though hes had a good season, I feel next season he can be even better so 2011 would be an excellent chance for him When I watch the GP on a saturday evening I want to watch the best riders showcasing this wonderful sport. I would never class Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris worthy of being in GPs and I dont want someone picked purely because of where they come from. I want to watch the best and sadly theres no British rider in that Bracket at the minute. -
Joe Thurley Trophy
Brummie Kev replied to Brummie Kev's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I think this meeting was one of the best meetings Ive seen at Perry Barr this season, some quite brilliant racing at times. I surpose its no surprise when we have the likes likes of Clews, Kerr and Bunyan in the line up. Well done to Mark Lemon, apart from his slow start where he started with 2 third places he was awesome after that with 4 straight wins. If Tomasz Piszcz isnt back next wednesday its certaintly no disadvantage having a rider like Lemon guesting for us. Lyons was the best rider during heat phase but let it slip in the final and was unable to catch lemon. Very impressed with Jay Herne he looked so determend to do well, his dad did ride under Joe afterall so he wanted to make a statement. Good to welcome such a popular rider in Paul Clews back, really popular rider at PB and good to see him go well once again. Thought Ricky Wells looked fairly good as did Richard Sweetman who I thought was very unlucky not to get into the final. Bunyan was a lucky to get away without seriously injury after his nasty tumble , proably the most entertaining rider on show. Such a shame about Birko had a terrible time with his machinary, bike trouble seemed to plague Gather cole aswell. He was quite disapointing. As was Rusty which is a worry for the Play offs, hopefully just an off night. Now we come on to THAT performance by Tomasz Michnicki, christ almighty he was bad. I actually feel sorry for him as he was thrown into a meeting with speedway riders that are much better then him so it must have been hard for him to be totally out classed like that. Whoever told Drury hes one for the future needs some serious help, im still gobsmacked he was THAT bad. We were very lucky to get it completed as the final didnt start till 9.56pm with a 10pm curfew, but all in all a super meeting in memory of a super man. -

Updated my first post on the lineup. Apparently we are looking at a mystery foreign rider with a view to signing him next year if he does well. Taken from Birmingham Mail. -
Well done to Ricky Ashworth, totally deserved the win I thought he was awesome. Not a bad meeting expected better but there were some decent races. It dragged on but I thought they pushed the heats through very well its just they decided to hold the innterval after heat 12 rarther then the end of heat 20. What was that delay about after heat 20 it took them about 15 mins to come out and pick the gates for the semi, they should have had the interval then. Really a mixture of good and Bad from Lyonsy. he rode a great race to beat proctor in heat 19 after he was all over his tail. His other win over Ashworth and Compton in heat 12 was very good but he struggled for pace in his other rides. Would have loved to have seen Tomasz ride but thanks to the Polish autorities he didnt, which was a shame as Tomasz has been our number 1 for most of the season. Wernt surprised to see Darcy and Ty on the Rostrum but slightly to see David Howe there but he rode well so deserved it. Bit shocked with Makovskys performance thought he would have done much better then that. Good showings from Lawson, Compton and Larsen early on. Another big crowd the PLRC belongs at Sheffield no doubt about that. Although the car park is giving the Swindon Car Park a run for its money as the worst car park in British Speedway took us ages to get out. Still enjoyed my day.

Ricky Wells and Jason Bunyan added to meeting aswell as the brummies top 5. -
To be honest if we dont have these silencers then clubs will close, (not just mine) the future of the sport is at stake if they arnt implented. In a perfect world I love not to have them but as we know this world aint perfect especially with the PC brigade about.
-
Its a disgrace to be honest, im okay because I do have sky but its a joke some people will only be able to see half a meeting. I know looking at the other channels that there are more so called popular sports on but why bother to show a live event if some people wont be able to see it in the full. I just hope this is a one off from Sky, its not a way to treat a sport thtat gives them good viewing figures.

Thought it was a rubbish meeting but im glad Greg Hancock won it. Usual performance from the Brits but all in all a very disapointing GP.

Pl 4 Team Tournament 25/07
Brummie Kev replied to Matousek's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
You Berwick fans arnt the only ones that love Paul Clews. He always gets a great reception at Perry Barr and I think most Birmingham supporters would love him to be in our team in 2010, he was close to being in this years team at the start of the season. I think alot of clubs will be after him in the winter, hes obviously done a great job at Berwick so will probably stay but who knows. I would rate Clews in my top 3 PL riders I love to watch ride. -
