  1. So pleased we have made the move up, its 100 per cent the right time. We have had four good seasons in the National League but the third tier is not where this club should be especially after the outcome of the NL AGM, 36 points limit is a disaster for a club like Birmingham. The management have been absolutely fantastic in their first season its a learning curve for the Masons but Ive been impressed, they can really build this club back up again for sure. I'm looking forward to going to tracks Ive never been to before and to get away from Cradley . Good to see Ulrich back at Birmingham, its been 10 years but he did well for us in his spell then. Adam Ellis is a rider I wouldnt mind seeing back, he was brilliant when he rode for us against Peterborough, Ben Barker is another one who is very popular with Brummies fans. Tom Bacon and/or James Shanes are the riders I would consider from this years side. Would say Leon but think he will be at Berwick. Hopefully we can have a solid side from 1 to 7.
  2. I wouldnt have thought so but nothing would surprise me given the past few weeks! We should know for certain in the next 24 hours.
  3. When is the MDL AGM, maybe we are applying to race in that?
  4. Still waiting to find out what league my team is racing in next year. Probably wont find out till after Christmas
  5. I find the whole thing disappointing to be honest, why are we left completely in limbo of what the clubs plans are for 2019. I think a decision either way should have been made weeks ago to be honest, instead we have had no word. The AGM statement comes out and says 2 NL clubs have moved up, it happens to be on the Brummies website so my thought was that its not a matter of if but when its announced. Then today we hear that no decision has yet been made despite the championship agm finishing almost a week ago. What is going on? I will be at Perry Barr in 2019 no matter what league we race in but I hope its Championship. When you go to some away tracks and Cardiff people always say "Why is a club like Birmingham in the National League? its right, why are we?. We have a good track and good facilities in a good location with some great sponsors. After 2014 I was glad we raced again at any level but the club should be moving forward and looking to race in the second tier. Its a level we have raced at before, and I enjoyed so much the old premier league days of 2007 to 2010. It was a big mistake to move up to the EL, that clearly was a financial gamble too much. A move up to the championship is a big risk as well I dont disagree but I have every faith we can make it work. Theres some good people at this club. I am quite worried about what kind of National League there will be in 2019. What clubs will be running as in 2018 there seemed to be concerns with a few clubs. So bearing that in mind will there be a significant reduction in the points limit. Will admission prices stay £13 and the like if the points limit and quality on offer reduces? It will be hard to sell to the general public. My preference would be to increase points limit but that isnt suitable I know because its a struggle for some clubs. So if we stay in the NL I just pray points limit stays the same.
  6. What I dont understand is why Eastbourne arnt going to release a statement until the end of NEXT WEEK. Its been almost a week since the championship agm finished, it stated the two clubs were going to announce it "in a few days" and as expected the rest of the championship has started planning already, so whats the hold up? Is it because next week on the 28th its the start of the NL AGM and after all this both clubs will probably stay where they are
  7. I think the other team is Eastbourne rather than Kent. I would totally welcome a move up to the championship, the past four seasons in the NL have been enjoyable but its important the club continues to move forward after what happened in 2014. The new managment have been fantastic, Lee Kilby has done a great job as commercial manager and despite a very frustrating season on track for the Brummies in 2018, off track has been positive. Fingers crossed we get it confirmed soon.
  8. Hopefully the Brummies have moved up, the other club im not sure about. Can only think it could be Eastbourne or Mildenhall, Kent ruled it out before the AGM
  9. I will be very disapointed if the Brummies dont move up.
  10. So sad to hear the passing of Doug Ellis today, Obviously well known as the chairman of the football club I support for many years but he has previously been a co-promotor at Birmingham Speedway untill 1960. He was invited to the re-opening of the Brummies in 2007 and spoke in support of the club in its battle to get full planning permission some while back. Rest in Peace Doug
  11. The final meeting on the 17th October is going to be a three team tournment between the Brummies, Wolves and Cradley. Cant wait!
  12. Freesports now HD on the Virgin Media platform.
  13. Thats not a Birmingham side, its a Birmingham select. Its madness that a fixture can be run in any league with FOUR guests and rider replacement for one side, personally I couldn't care less if its rained off tomorrow. Just want this season done with and hopefully look forward to 2019. This season (on the track) has been a disaster with the injuries that have wrecked the side, feel sorry for the Masons. What a baptism of fire in their first year as owners.
  14. Wouldnt mind a home and away challenge against Wolves run to Premiership level but I doubt they will go for that. Probably an individual with all the top NL boys
  15. It was good to see the cycle speedway demonstration at Perry Barr the other night, your only based down the road in Perry Park so its good to forge links with other clubs. I will have to go and watch cycle speedway sometime, never seen other than on wednesday! Its not perfect and as we saw with Garrity withdrawing from the meeting, it means you can only track 1 rider in the nominated heats of 13 and 14. Why couldnt one of the riders that were in Heat 14 also ride in Heat 13 as cover, aslong as their average is lesser than Garrity. I do think the six man teams can work and without doubt we need a change to the current format as there's less and less riders now. It just needs a bit more thought, it shouldn't hinder the progress of young brits which is my worry.
  16. I thought the crowd was good, only seen Cradley at home a better attendance. Considering its an extra 3 pound tonight for a challenge match aswell. They will be pleased. Racing I agree wasnt great but again its a challenge. It was good to see Barker back and on on fire, if we do move up would love him back. That Gappmeier looks half decent aswell.
  17. I'm still looking forward to this match despite no Masters, I honestly couldnt give two hoots about the Play offs now. Even if we qualify we will have 2 guests and R/R for the semi finals minimum and realistically what chance do we have anyway. So for me tonight is more important because we need to start looking forward to 2019, I think most brummies fans would be in favour of a move up and we all need to turn out because it wont happen if we dont give Peter and David Mason our full support.
  18. I was very disappointed with the track at Leicester yesterday, especially the third and fourth bend. The hole on the third bend contributed to that big crash in Heat 13 with Ayres and Mountain, Ayres did go in a bit hot up the inside but he hit the hole which launched him into Mountain, hopefully both riders will be okay. There was a race when Morley hit that same hole twice in two laps which sent him off towards the fourth bend fence, thankfully on both occasions he rescued it. Then on another lap I though Morley was packing up going round that bend but he was just riding like that to avoid the holes! Everyone says the racing at Leicester is rubbish but they should focus on getting a more smoother and consistent surface to race on first, because how can expect ridings of any level but especially the national league guys to go flat out when the track is like that?
  19. Tom Bacon has a suspected fracture to his back, so season likely over. Sam Woods a broken arm according to Brummies site . My best wishes to them both.
  20. Its crazy that after the summer we have had we are in a situation now, where theres quite a number of fixtures that might not be fitted in before the cut off. I see Stoke v Eastbourne is off and i dont see how that can be fitted in before in before the cut off with Eastbourne a saturday track aswell. Look at Coventry they are having to run double headers, they still haven't arranged Buxton home and away and Mildenhall at home, the cut off is in two weeks!! Every year this happens, why bother with the National Trophy and KOC cup early in season, the bread and butter should be the league and that should be priority. Have the other competitions for after the league fixtures have been completed.
  21. Using R/R for Walker isnt great but its alot better than R/R for Danyon. Hume is good for 8-10 minimum, I dont see Flint, Laurence, Embleton and Davies scoring that to be honest
  22. A point would be as good as a win and probably result of the season. This Mildenhall side is unbelievable and its been a number of years since we have seen a side as good as this grace third tier speedway. We have to bear that in mind tonight, as long as its not a mauling I will be content.
  23. Well that was a bit unexpected, didnt expect to win let alone get all 4 points. It keeps us in with a hope of a playoff place with 3 meetings left. A big thanks to the guests that performed so well, Brennan has guested for us a few times now and each times hes done well. Really pleased for Josh, I know Plymouth had Dugard withdrawn early on ( hope he gets well soon) but thats a great score from him. Tom fantastic yet again at the top, big score after big score this season. A class act at this level for sure.
  24. Thats if you believe the Coventry press release, Brummies site is saying its Jenkins and R/R for Walker!. I just dont know why we would have R/R for Hume when Walker is out injured and below him in the averages.
  25. Whats the betting the BSPA will bottle it and keep things as they are now.
