I heard someone talk about this at Leicester today and I had to take a look at BSPA site on my phone. I couldnt believe someone like Kennett would be so stupid in doing something like this. Good on Coventry for the statement they released earlier, I thought it was spot on. I think the book needs to be thrown at Kennett now.

Well what a day!!, we decided to go to this rather then go to Belle Vue tomorrow as the weather forecast was better for this. Well what a mistake, we first hit the rain whilst we approached Ashby-de-la Zouch about 3.30. It was hammering down, but nice and sunny in Leicester when we got there. We knew heavy rain was on its way to us, but I didnt expect it to last 1 hour and have as much as we did. When We got underway it glorious with loads of blue skies, but the weather did a complete 360 and by the inverval it looked very bleak. Absolutley Torrential that is the only way to describe it and we decided to leave before it was announced. Looks like the only good decision we made today, we travelled back part of the way in what seemed like a monsoon. Such a shame on the Leicester Promotion. I feel for all the fans that had long journeys home , certaintly an excellent crowd with most clubs represented well. It was actually my first visit, got to say Im impressed with the place. Lovely stadium and good facilities. Its hard to comment on the track after the rain, other to say it obvioulsy has fantastic drainage. I think most meetings at other tracks would have been called after the rain we prior to the meetiong starting. Hardly any surface water which was amazing considering. I was cheering for Redcar with Mr Birmingham Speedway in their side, plus Aaron Summers was popular at Perry Barr last year. It wasnt to be for them sadly. Hopefully the next time I go back to Leicester the weather gods will be a lot kinder. -
Phil Moris Farewell 1.9.2011
Brummie Kev replied to Fiesta's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Jason Crump is riding! , cant wait for this meeting Taken from Brummies site. PHIL Morris has added another big name to his Farewell Meeting line-up with the announcement of three-times World Champion Jason Crump. The hugely-popular Australian no longer rides regularly in Britain and will be making a special journey from his Swedish home to compete in the event at Birmingham on Thursday, September 1. The two riders raced together in Belle Vue’s 2006 Elite League side and have always had a great respect for each other. Crump said: "Phil and I go back a long way. We've always got on well and he was a great team-mate to have at Kirkmanshulme Lane.” Morris is particularly thrilled that the Aussie is taking time out from his heavy schedule to fly in specifically for his big night. He added: “Jason is a guy I have always regarded as the ultimate pro. The fact he is riding in my meeting when he is no longer UK based also show what a top bloke he is.” The line-up for the meeting at Perry Barr is really taking shape and features other major stars of the sport; this includes Britain’s current Grand Prix star Chris Harris and former GP riders Lee Richardson and Tai Woffinden. They join previously announced fellow Brits Edward Kennett, Danny King, Ben Barker and Lewis Bridger, plus former Reading favourites Ulrich Ostergaard and Sam Simota. In addition to the main event there will be a number of other races involving Britain’s rising Under-16 and Under-21 stars. And in a further commitment to the sport that served him so well during his twenty-year career, Morris has also pledged that he will donate part of the proceeds from the night to the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund and British Youth Speedway development. Full details of the meeting format and the remaining riders will be revealed next week. -
The meeting is on BBC WM, click on the link below now. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_wm

Dudley - Golden Hammer
Brummie Kev replied to Mr Snackette's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Well done to Kyle Hughes on winning the Golden Hammer and also to Sudden Sam on beating Jan O Pedersen 3-0 Wish I could have made it considering what seemed a huge crowd, BBC WM said the crowd was double last years Golden Hammer and they estimated it at around 3000. :o Fantastic Coverage yet again from BBC WM, great commentary from Mike Taylor, plus interviews all night from Richard Wilford. Great Stuff!!! -
EDIT:For anyone that saw my last post saying that Swedish Speedway was going to be shown delayed next week, this is in fact WRONG. It will be shown before the Rangers game, thanks to Jeffster for pointing that out to me.

Phil Moris Farewell 1.9.2011
Brummie Kev replied to Fiesta's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Taken from Brummies site: TEAM GB Captain and Grand Prix star Chris Harris is a confirmed starter for the Phil Morris Farewell meeting at Birmingham on Thursday September 1 (7.30pm). The Belle Vue Ace accepted an invitation from Morris to ride in the meeting when the pair were in Poland for last week’s Speedway World Cup. The popular Cornishman said: “I’m delighted to accept Phil’s invitation to ride in his farewell meeting. “We have always got on well over the years and it’s good to see him helping youth speedway in this country.” Another rider confirmed for the meeting is Birmingham’s Ulrich Ostergaard. ‘The Big O’ gained cult-hero status during his time at Phil’s former club Reading in 2008 and is looking forward to seeing the many Racers fans who will be making the journey up to the meeting. Speaking on the double rider confirmation, Morris said: “I was over the moon when Bomber said he could make it, as I know he has a very busy schedule. “His performance in the World Cup showed he is still one of the best riders in the world. “Whilst Ulrich is a spectacular rider, I remember him winning the final ever meeting at Reading’s Smallmead Stadium in 2008. “The Racers fans are very special to me and I know they loved the season he had with them.” -
Thats shocking if you ask me , there was the meeting earlier in the season delayed but they assured everyone it would be the only one. Wont bother watching it, if this is how they treat us.

Speedway World Cup Team Line Ups
Brummie Kev replied to Ben Alderton's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I actually thought we did better then expected, considering we had Bridger in place of Nicholls. I would have been happy with 20 points tonight and we got 10 more then I thought we would get. Pleased with BB, he rode his socks off tonight, I did think he would struggle going into it considering his lack of experience of Polish Tracks. Harris was excellent and Wuffy did okay in the end. Lewis Bridger and Edward Kennett were the biggest disapointments. Overall though I cant fault them for effort this World Cup, as others have said we are just nowhere near the top 4 nations and Russia have overtaken us now. We have to realistic in our expectations of Team GB in future World Cups. Saturdays final should be a Cracker, still think the Poles will win. -

Thought it was a decent meeting, what I expected from Team GB really. I dont think we were ever going finish ahead of the Poles and in the second half of the meeting at least we did much better than the first half. A bit disapointed with the first half as I felt we threw some silly points away especially the Nicholls Joker. In the end Im pleased with effort the team showed, I dont think theres any doubt about that. The Poles are head and shoulders above us, and will probably be over everyone else on Home Shale. The Race-Off will be tough especially if the Laguta Brothers and Emil come into the side. Realistically Im expecting the Swedes and Aussies to march into the final. I hope Team GB at least go to Gorzow and give it everthing and under Middlo I am sure they will. One last thing, surely there are two Krzysztof Kasprzak's around, that cant be the same rider that has been riding for us this season. On this evidence why are Elite League reserves beating him. He showed when hes in the mood and his bikes are right, just what he can do. Hopefully the Kasprzak we saw tonight can do it in Brummies colours after the World Cup. -

Clown Barker WTF?, Barker scored 6 from 3 rides on World Cup debut and beat a GP rider, that is terrible is it. Its good to see riders that want to ride their bollocks off for Team GB unlike Rico. -

Fair play to Phil for donating his proceeds to the SRBF and British Under 15 speedway. I shall be there for his testimonial and some good names added so far. Hope he gets a good turnout on 1st September. -
Dudley Heathens Vs. Isle Of Wight Islanders

Massive Heathens win, would imagine it will be a bit tricky for the Islanders to adapt to the tight and technical Monmore Green track. Its only slighty different to Smallbrook. -
Cardiff Parking
Brummie Kev replied to james1234's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A good place to park is on Tyndall Street, near the Etap. We parked there last year, theres meters but its free after 6pm so you only have pay upto then. Its not much and its on a main road so easy to get out after the meeting. -
