I think the Woffinden story in todays Sunday Mercury, is just pure nonsense to be honest. Seems like the media likes to get involved in the' silly season', just like the fans. I will be amazed if Woffinden quits Britain, in the article he says, he is looking for more commercial backing so he can ride in the GP's on the best possible equipment. So what sense would it make for him to not ride in his home country, where I presume most of his sponsor's/backing is?

Cant say I'm surprised given we see this all the time with Premier League Football. The 3pm Saturday games are always made avaible for oversea's fans, the Premier League come out with such bollocks like it would affect the crowd sizes. So what if an Arsenal fan lives in Glasgow, he cant afford to commute, as his main priority rightly is his family. He cant afford see his team not his fault but someone in Auckland, many thousands of miles away, can. Crazy!! Shame its creeping into speedway, not everyone can make to Swindon tonight. Yet people in other countries, that probably dont give a rats arse, have the chance to watch it whilst we dont. Great treatment of the loyal British Speedway fans. Another thing that has annoyed me and is why we should have seen this coming, is Gospeed asking the Speedway filming companies to remove all race clips off Youtube earlier this year. I dont understand it, Youtube is so popular and can reach a wide audience, so why cut it off. Surely we want to attract new fans to the sport, or am I missing the point totally ? -
Really sad that Lee has called it a day, he was a rider that always did well at Perry Barr in our Premier League days. Some of his battles with Jason Lyons were a sight to behold at times and, as you say bigeddiecheck he was a crowd puller. Look at his performance in the Gary Stead meeting at Sheffield, a meeting he won beating many top riders. He was quality that night. I would like to wish all the best to Lee for the future in whatever he decides to do.

No Bjarne Pedersen as he has an ankle injury which has caused him to pull out of this weeks Brummies meetings. Confirms it himself that he wont ride again this season in the article below: http://www.birmingha..._medium=twitter

Thought I would start a thread with it coming up in a few weeks So the Line up for this is: Simon Gustafsson (Eastbourne), Freddie Lindgren (Wolverhampton), Chris Holder (Poole), Peter Karlsson (Lakeside), Rory Schlein (Belle Vue), Mads Korneliussen (King’s Lynn), Niels-Kristian Iversen (King’s Lynn), Krzysztof Buczkowski (Peterborough), Danny King (Birmingham), Scott Nicholls (Coventry), Darcy Ward (Poole), Hans Andersen (Swindon), Michael Jepsen Jensen (Peterborough), Troy Batchelor (Swindon), Joonas Kylmakorpi (Eastbourne), Chris Harris (Coventry) How is the selection of this meeting worked out. It cant be on average, Seb Ulamek has a higher average than Korneliussen, Gustafsson, Buczkowski and MJJ, so why isnt he in it unless he has a meeting abroad? Even so it looks a good line-up, hopefully not too many pull out of it. Thats been the problem with the ELRC in the past but it looked to be different last year. So whats the everyone's prediction for the top 4, mine is: 1. Darcy Ward 2. Niels-Kristian Iversen 3. Chris Holder 4. Chris Harris

The Heathens V Stoke Po Semi Final 1st Leg
Brummie Kev replied to greyhoundp's topic in National League Speedway
First Time I've been able to go to a Dudley Match all season and I thought it was a decent match. Excellent crowd, I go to Monmore a few times to watch the Brummies and Ive yet to see a crowd anywhere near that last night, good number of Potters fans aswell. I'm not a massive fan of Porky on the green but I amazed how he keeps warm by just wearing a green heathens t-shirt all evening!!!. It was Freezing last night All the credit must go to the Potters for that battling display but I did think the Heathens threw some points away with falls and engine failures. I was a bit disapointed with Joe Haines, I thought he would have been untouchable at this level and he knows the Monmore track well. In fact he didnt gate all night, and found it hard to pass the Stoke riders although he did give it a go which was the case in the race he fell. Joe's night was summed up in the Les Pottinger Memorial Trophy race , when his bike reared up when the tapes went up and he fell off the back. The best Heathens rider was Tom Perry, afterall he was the only Dudley rider that didnt have an EF or a fall, he was brilliant. Ashley Morris started well but packed up on the line in Heat 8 and wasnt as good after that. Ritchings was impressive at reserve scoring 10+2 but even he had bike trouble when he packed up whilst leading in Heat 14. Dan Greenwood and James White Williams were poor, both suffered from falls, glad to see they are okay. For the Stoke Potters, very impressed with Ashley Birks, nobody good get near him untill we saw a Tom Perry special in Heat 15. On another thread, I had Birks as NL rider of the year, glad I did after last nights performance. Wouldnt mind him riding for the Brummies in the EL next year in a doubling up role as he's scored plenty of points at PL level aswell. Some good performance from the rest of the side, Cockle and Reade gave good support to Birks. Must admit I had never heard of Lee Geary before last nights match. He certaintly made an impression with a battling display at reserve. I thought Atkin would have scored a few more, but struggled a bit. Overall though, Stoke did really well to only keep the Heathens to a one point lead going into tonights return -
You have done a great job this year Dave , doing the Swedish League on Premier Sports. Much better than the guy they had doing it last year, he seemed to know nothing about speedway. Hope the Swedish League returns to Premier Sports next year and we get the Polish Extraliga shown in some form, with you commentating on both.

Is Speedway Too Expensive Now ?
Brummie Kev replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Said somthing similar in another thread on the forum, but I cant believe most Speedway clubs charge admission for young kids. For a 6 year old kid, they could be charged as much as £7 at one PL track!!!, with others charging upto that. So is Speedway really a family sport, I think some promotions need to wake up tbh, no kid upto say 12 years old, should be charged in my opinion. In these tough times, its even harder for famililes and these kids are the future fans of the sport. -

Dudley Heathens To Go Premier League?
Brummie Kev replied to 25yearfan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think it would be great for the Heathens to move up to the Premier League, you only have to look at the support they have to realise the National League is not the right league for them. I really hope they get a stadium of their own as its what they deserve and once they do, a move up to the El with big derbies against Wolves should be the aim. A move up to the PL would act as a stepping stone and it would help them to build up their asset base in preparation for it. This all would be subject to Dudley Council giving the go-ahead for a new stadium. The only thing which is stopping them moving upto the Premier League seems to be stadium availability of Monmore for a full PL fixture list. Perhaps with discussions with CVS and the stadium owners, a solution could be found? -

Whatever we think about the rules, I would just like to wish Joe Haines all the best with the Heathens. He's had an awful time with injuries in recent years and hope this is short spell with Dudley is successful for him.

Brummie Kev replied to Skodaman's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
This is the one meeting I really miss with the Brummies now in a different league . Didnt always get the chance to travel away much but I ALWAYS made the PLRC at Sheffield and the one year at Blunsdon too. Always a great day, with so many fans from all the other clubs. Just was a pain in the backside to get out of the Car Park at Sheffield!! Hope its a great meeting on the 23rd -

Assuming it gets the go ahead as not on the BSPA fixture list yet, my complete guess at the line-ups are Leicester 1. EL Heat-leader??? 2. Kauko Nieminen 3. Lasse Bjerre 4. Magnus Karlsson Coventry 1. Edward Kennett 2. Kenni Larsen 3. Leigh Lanham 4. Josef Franc Birmingham 1 Joe Screen 2. Danny King 3. Martin Smolinski 4. Nicolas Covatti Wolves 1. Nicolai Klindt 2. Ty Proctor 3. Ricky Wells 4. Jacob Thorsell or Pontus Aspgren -
I'm the same but at least he provided one of the funniest things I have ever seen at Speedway meeting, he tripped over the tapes last year and fell flat on his face. Chris Durno lifted the tapes just as he was about the leap over them, the whole stadium erupted with laughter!!
