  1. Troy Batchelor and Ricky Wells added to the lineup, Cook has pulled out due to racing for Edinburgh. Was looking forward to his clashes with Barker!!! http://www.birminghambrummies.co/danny-king-testimonial-update-2/
  2. Surprised Redcar have agreed to the meeting being restaged on 26th August as they will be without Ostergaard and Summers. Coventry and Belle Vue are in action on Bank Holiday Monday, those meetings were arranged first and this is only a re staging. Its why Doyle and Auty were missing for their Pl clubs last night.
  3. Hope the Brummies make it to the end of the season!!

  4. It was a joke, if the reason for seeding them through was to get more locals in, then its a massive fail for the FIM as plenty of empty seats on the home straight especially. It should be the 4 best teams in the final that have made it there on merit. This year for me the World Cup has been totally devalued as a competition with the FIM doing that and also having it on such a poor track such as Prague. Really not enjoyed it this year, think its been great in previous years. Thank you FIM!!
  5. Shame if Cook has pulled out but still a decent line-up. I wonder who will be riding for who with riders announced so far, Im guessing 4 man teams so: Brummies King Barker Doyle Harris Coventry Nicholls Schlein Kennett ????? Peterborough Kenneth Bjerre ?????? ?????? ?????? Dont know about Wolves, would be great to see somelike like Freddie, Tai or Wolves legend PK riding for them (if fit). No Poland on the 11th August.
  6. Glad to see Ben has been called into the team for Thursday, I felt he should have been selected for the team instead of Kennett in the first place, his form of late has been very good. I don't agree at all with Bridger;s inclusion, whats he done to justify being selected. This year his average has gone backwards, and is only a second string in the El. If they wanted to change Cook, than why not Danny King. Yeah Danny had a lean spell at number 1 for us but its his solid scoring that got him there. It just wasn't the case of Bomber doing so bad at number 1, Danny increased his average from the starting average he started the season with. Many thought he would never hold it, but he not only did that but slightly increased it to get him to number 1. On the whole hes had a decent season and is surely would have been a better option than Bridger. I do feel for Cook, his comments may anger some but at least he cares. He did try his best and I dont think he disgrace himself on Monday. He didnt always gate which is normally his strong point but you could see him trying. Perhaps we could have left him in but either way I'm sure Craig will have plenty of opportunites to race in a Team GB in the future for sure!!
  7. Just dont agree with that at all. You say one worthwhile pass and that was in Heat 14, so what about Heat 3 then . You cant say that was a bad race, cracking race with Ulamek, King and Barker. Heat 9, with the Brummies on a 5-1 Davey Watt all over the back of the Brummies. Didn't pass them but was very close with Watt looking like having the pace to come through. Next heat, Lakeside gate with Doyle passing both of Ulamek and Swiderski, Swiderski all over Doyle and eventually passes him. Might not have been a classic but an enjoyable night all for a tenner.
  8. I think he was a bit upset with him in after Hear 15 for some reason, even so wonder whether Watt called Barker a C**k to his face. Thats what he should do instead of dragging his name through the mud on twitter. When he made the remark he was egged on by someone to " say what you think", Watt responded by saying it would get him in trouble. Bit late for that Davey!!
  9. So disappointed to read insulting remarks from Davey Watt on twitter about Ben Barker. I know hes not everyone's cup of tea, that clearly seems to be the case but resorting to twitter to insult him is unprofessional. Thought Watt was better than that! If someone like Bridger or Ward does it, everyone is in uproar but I suspect that wont be the case with Watt. The BSPA need to act as riders launching attacks on other riders on social media sites is clearly not on.
  10. Really enjoyed that, some good racing in front of an expected big crowd. Got to give credit to Lakeside for the fightback from 15-3 down but I don't think the Brummies were at their best. We missed Smoli, must say I was shocked he wasn't riding when it was announced, I thought it was Barker we were all worried about!!. RR got us 4 points from his rides but I reckon Smoli would have scored double that. There were some good performances, Barker was outstanding with one of the most entertaining performances in Brummies colours, Heat 14 ride around the boards to pass Swidders was worth the admission alone. Doyley I have got to give alot of praise, 10 paid 11 from the number 1 position is terrific. Auty was just like last week, full of effort and did well. Danny wasn't at his best, failing to win a race and Bomber just the one. Would have liked a bit more from both of them. Nico didnt have a good meeting again points wise but looked on the pace in some races. I thought Bridger was a disgrace confronting Bjerre like that, at one point I thought he was going to spark Bjerre out. How professional is it to behave like that, people around me ( many of them new to speedway) couldn't believe it, I mean they are meant to be teammates tonight, hardly sets a good example. Lakeside as I say did well to fight back after a shocker of a start. Watt did well and Bjerre won his last three. The rider that impressed me the most was Richard Lawson, hes had some awful meetings here in the past but tonight he looked good. Was nice to see Ulamek back at PB, but wasn't the danger man i thought he would be. His fellow Pole Swiderski was poor really just like the A fixture. Roll on the trip to Peterborough a week Monday and the Eagles two days later. Looking forward to both matches!!
  11. Really think Barker should have been in the team, hes been in great form for the Brummies and Ipswich of late after a slow start to the season. I watched him tonight and he was absolutely fantastic, one of the best performances I seen him give and only 50/50 going into the match. Awesome
  12. No thread with a day to go Teams Brummies 1. Jason Doyle 2. Martin Smolinski 3. Danny King 4. Ben Barker or R/R ( Ben rated as 50/50 for this in today's Mail) 5. Chris Harris 6. Nico Covatti 7. Josh Auty Hammers 1. Kenneth Bjerre ( Guest) 2. Lewis Bridger 3. Seb Ulamek 4. Piotr Swiderski 5. Davey Watt 6. Kevin Doolan 7. Richard Lawson Looking forward this, really hope theres a big crowd with the £10 promotion . I was reading on the Brummies site that 500 police officers and their families have been invited, so we all better be on our best behavior!! . Really like the look of this Lakeside side, and should run us close at the very least. Will be great to welcome Seb back, thought he did a solid job for the Brummies last year and wouldn't have minded him back for this year but sadly not to be. There will be a collection during the meeting with the money raised going to Macmillan Cancer Support
  13. Was good to see the hovercam or whatever its called at Perry Barr last night, looks a bit wierd but you get some great shots of the action. Would love to control the thing( presume its remote controlled), would be like having one of them remote controlled helicopters but on a larger scale. Boys toy!!
  14. Brummies next two home matches against Lakeside and Eastbourne are £10 admission with the vouchers they handed out tonight. They gave everyone envelopes with about 6 of these vouchers in to hand out to family, friends, work colleagues etc. This was done a few years back and resulted in a big crowd and many newcomers, hope its the case again.
  15. Danny is having his testimonial at Perry Barr in August and it has been announced that it will be a four team tournament involving select sides from Brummies, Wolves, Coventry and Danny's old club Peterborough. More info: http://www.birmingha...ys-testimonial/ Hopefully its a great day and many people turn out for Danny' s day. Riders announced so far: Craig Cook Rory Schlein Chris Harris Scott Nicholls Jason Doyle Ben Barker Kenneth Bjerre Edward Kennett Troy Batchelor Ricky Wells
  16. True but I think Bomber's a different rider when hes got that Team GB race bib on. Hes been very good in the world cup over the years and I think it would be wrong to not start with him. My 4 would be: Woffy Bomber Cookie Barker or King
  17. I really enjoyed Eurosport's coverage of the British GP. The presenter (Andy Jaye) whilst admitting at the start his limited knowledge of the sport, came across really well I thought. Sophie is so much better then Charlie, I just cringe sometimes with the question's Charlie asks. Scott I have always liked as a pundit but looked alot laid back then when he was on Sky. The bit about the bike set-up with Scott before the meeting was fascinating I thought.
  18. On twitter its says the decision at 6am is about delaying the start time not about it not going ahead. Although looking at Lindbacks twitter, it seems he is not happy at all. https://twitter.com/ALindbck
  19. I dont understand it at all tbh. The track at the last couple of Cardiff Gp's has been excellent, so if they have changed the shale, what sense is there for doing it. Even if they have, surely it cant be hard to prepare a race track. Afterall the bloody stadium has a roof, so cant blame bad weather and they get a fair amount of time to prepare one..
  20. Apparently the track is going to be relaid overnight, they are waiting for the new shale to be delivered by Breedon, which is due to arrive sometime overnight!! Lets hope they get it sorted.
  21. Oh dear!! You would think they would get the track right after all these years at Cardiff. We saw in the early years that it rutted up alot but them pictures look a bit worrying. I just hope with just under 24 hours they get it into some kind of raceable shape! fingers crossed
  22. They are talking to all Midlands clubs but are in advanced talks with Walsall about playing at the Bescot next season and beyond, which is crazy!!. I mean surely St Andrews is the logical choice, given its a straight A road from Coventry and a more or less a direct train link. Also Blues are in financial mess themselves, so beneficial for them to rent out their ground to gain extra income.
  23. Enjoyed yet another Premier League meeting on Sky, certaintly more entertaining than the El ones so far. Surprised a bit with the result, going into it I thought Newcastle would miss Ludvig too much and the Bandits would run out winners. Credit to Newcastle for the way they rode throughout by keeping it close and coming good in the end. Kennett was a little bit disapointing, I have seen him on fire in the EL this season, but look a bit dis-interested in his last few rides. Aspegren expected more of aswell. Decent performances from Wethers and Smith, shame no Bellego as he is box office and maybe would have got a few more points than what RR got. Great performances from R Worrall and Robson as you would expect and them two were backed up well with Christian Henry. However the star of the show for me was young Lewis Kerr. First time Ive seen him ride and very impressed with how he rode and good to see a young talent from a motocross background making such strides in short space of time. Hopefully wont be long before the next PL match on Sky.
