  1. At least you wont forget where you parked your car, you'll be staring at it all meeting!!
  2. Says in the Speedway Star that Jason Doyle is looking for a new club next year, more than likely back at Swindon. A shame, as Ive really loved watching Doyley this year. Also there are doubts that Brummies will be in the top flight next year, cant say I'm surprised given money worries of the past 2 seasons.
  3. The most important bit from that article is when it says Morris wants to be charge of the Brummies next year. I'm sure thats great to hear for all Brummies fans, as there have been posts on this forum from other fans that say would like Phil at their club. That shows what a great job he has done at the Brummies and should Middlo not continue as Team GB boss, then he's the ideal person to take over. Next years team building will be no different to other years at Brum, with us waiting to see what riders will be available after their parent clubs decide whether to include them. I would love to see the bulk of this years side come back next year but 5 of the 7 are assets of other clubs so it's likely that some wont be back, which would be a great shame. At least being positive, having hardly no assets didnt harm us last season, so hopefully some decent riders will be available and Phil can build a decent side.
  4. Says on the Wolverhampton 2014 thread that at last nights talk in , if no sky deal and the EL weakened THREE PL teams to move up. Would imagine Ipswich would be one along with Leicester, just unsure about the third?
  5. Some interesting posts there from Steve and TNT, thanks for sharing them. So 3 current Pl teams looking to join the El if its weakened, I would guess Leicester and Ipswich would be 2 but what about the third team. Sheffield with the stadium and track they have should be in the top flight, perhaps they could under new owners but I have a hunch on Somerset. Fantastic track, had a great year, so perhaps a new challenge and big local derbies against the Robins. Was there any talk of any current El teams dropping out, a few with money worries?
  6. Cant say i'm shocked that Harris is returning to Brandon, doubt any Coventry owned riders will be in next years Brummies team anyway but on the average he's got plus hes still loved by the Bee's fans its no brainer for Horton. The timing of it is a surprise to me, always think its risky is announce rider signings before the outcome of the AGM, as you never know what might happen!!. Look at last year, werent Peterborough going to sign Harris but had announced Sundstrom and Bjerre before the AGM and with the rule change that was introduced, they couldnt include him. All the best to Harris, he's not had the greatest of seasons but would like to thank him for his efforts for the Brummies this year and good luck for next season.
  7. Also a question about the ownership of the club, given in todays local paper its says Chris Luty is awaiting developments at the BSPA. Whatever that means?
  8. I dont think racing every two weeks would get the crowds coming in. If you are reaching out to new fans then I think regular weekly speedway is what you need. Whats to say on the week you dont race at home, new potential fans do something else, love it and never come back to watching speedway. You need new fans to get in the habit of going and having home meetings every two weeks wont do that.
  9. Lakeside's twitter feed has been active tonight with Richard Lawson named rider of the year.
  10. Rosco said it starts on 14th November for 3 days in this weeks Speedway Star
  11. So when is Matt Ford going to respond by apologising in our local paper about some poole fans disregard for planning regulations on air horn use at perry barr, and giving abuse to club officals when asked to stop using them?
  12. Danny and Nico are the only two I think will be back from this years team. Nico needs to double up next year if the rules allow it as I dont think he rode in enough meetings this year. Four of this years side were Coventry owned riders and Mick Horton said after we went back on the Barker transfer that he wouldnt do any more business with Birmingham, so no Coventry assets at Brum next year. Doyle will be back at Swindon, would be very surprised if he wasnt back there. So could be all change on the team front and maybe behind the scenes given todays article in the Bham Mail talking about "internal strife" at the Brummies this year.
  13. It was taken down prior to Playoff Semi Final because of demand on the BSPA server. Now it seems the website has been taken down 'Indefinitely' for some reason. There was alot of blame when it was first taken down, and to be honest I couldnt give a rats arse about blaming anyone anymore, I would just like to urge all the parties involved to get the website back and running ASAP. As for Brum next year, well for me it just seems up in the air at the minute. I think we will run as on the offical twitter page today, there was a competition to win a 2014 season ticket but will there be changes I feel. Whether the owners will continue I have no idea but you would imagine the main empahsis would be on reducing costs should they continue. May be a case of racing at a lower level, but the sport as a whole might be in the same boat if Sky pull out.
  14. Wanted to wait till our season was over before doing this, so here goes...... Positives Tai Woffinden becoming World Champion, never would have imagined prior to the season starting Brummies topping the table after 28 matches and reaching the grand final, same as above, so proud of all the riders and mangament this year The response there was when Alan Philips made about poor crowd levels in July(?), thought the crowds were improved from then on and good responses for the promotion meetings Winning at Wolves in the first match and in the playoffs was great, it was one fixture I was dying to see us win since our move up Both home and away matches with Peterborough, two of the best meetings I have seen this year. Esp battle's between Harris and Bjerre at the showground. Martin Smolinski getting into the GP's and having a great year for us putting 2pts on his average Just watching Jason Doyle, been superb this year. The Brummies getting a civic reception with the council. Negatives The terrible injuries Ricky Ashworth suffered, my heart goes out to him and his family Too many crashes in the sport Belle Vue/Poole shambles, both the 'burst water pipe' one and the other shambles. Didnt do the sport any favours, was shocking The Kozza Smith affair with Kings Lynn and Peterborough, handled very poorly by the SCB. Crowds at Brum early in the season Money woes at Brummies Too much neagtivity in the local press regarding the Brummies at times, thought it was a distraction for the success the side was having on track Banning of our centre green presenter Chris Simpson for the Grand Final and whole website affair Team GB's none showing at the Speedway World Cup. Stupid stop/start nature of the El fixture list!!!! Grand Final- say no more!!!!
  15. Congratulations Poole , over the two legs you were the better side and more or less won it with your performance on home shale a week previously. I felt going into the final the momentum was with Poole after they sneaked into the top 4 and the comeback they had in the semi finals against the Robins and it showed. Even though we fell at the last hurdle, I am so proud of all the Brummies riders this for reaching our first grand final. Its very easy to lose it in a grand final but its not easy to finish top of the pile after 28 league matches, which is what we done and in only our third season in the top flight. Stilll the name of the game is all down to playoffs for the title and well done Poole. I was a bit disapointed to read on here and elsewhere about air horns in last nights match. I couldnt make it thanks to the very short notice in restaging from Mondays postponment but its alarming to hear of club officals getting a volley of abuse for asking fans to stop using airhorns . There is absolutley no need for it, we cannot have air horns at Perry Barr for ANY match. What happens now if someone, lets say a resident in Nash Square which is a residential road right near the stadium complains to the council. We fought hard to secure the sport in Birmigham , facing many hurdles in the way and that could be undone if complaints are made. People may have been unaware about the policy of Airhorns in the stadium but if anouncements are made and club officals ask people to stop, then they should stop using them!
  16. Live Commentary on tonights match, joint broadcast with BBC Radio Solent http://www.bbc.co.uk...o/player/bbc_wm
  17. Good Luck the Brummies tonight, would love us to keep it 10 or less for the second leg but have a feeling Poole may win this leg by about 15pts, hope I'm wrong.
  18. Really glad Tai got it wrapped so early, and truely deserves it. The desire and grit he has showed this year has been amazing, when you consider the injury setbacks he has had with his collerbone. Despite the doom and gloom surrounding the sport in this country at times, its just great to have a British rider top of the world. You have done the sport and country proud Tai Woffinden!!
  19. Well if club sites are taken down crashing when there are only 27 vistors then what hope is there for the main site, the day after the first Britain for 13 years wins the World Championship.
  20. Just logged on to the Brummies site (everything okay at the minute ) and I noticed the headline "Ford backing the Brummies"...
  21. All the best toTai, will be watching the action with a few . Come on Wuffy!!
  22. For those that dont have Sky, BBC WM will be down at Wimbourne Rd on Monday giving their great coverage as usual. Unlike most of the commentaries on WM this year it will be broadcast on all frequences (FM in the West Midlands, DAB and Internet . Hope Phillips lets them broadcast at Perry Barr for the second leg!
  23. Fair play to Tai for those comments, really will be rooting for him in Torun on Saturday.
  24. Chris, you do an amazing job and there is no one better at presenting at the Brummies, the crowd always responds to your warcrys etc. Its so sad to see you feel like that. First chance, I have had to air my opinion about the disgrace of removing our website after the biggest meeting of our recent history on Monday. In the Brummies Statement, it states that the site was removed because the servers couldnt cope with our site. So why hasnt there been any problems with the Poole site, Swindon or Wolves sites. Whether you believe the Brummies Statement or not, we the fans deserve an explanation from AP Media and the BSPA but true to form wall of silence. Just one word sums up this whole thing to me, that word is SPITE.
  25. Absolutley fantastic that we are in the EL grand final , I must congratulate all the Brummies riders and managment for what they have done to get us to this postion. Its been a tough season as a fan with all the off track stuff going on but we have a final to look forward to now and I cant wait!! Thought the meeting wasnt the greatest with Wolves not putting up much of a fight, but some excellent performances from the likes of Jason Doyle ( as ever!!), Danny 'the cowboy' King and Bomber was on the gas tonight aswell. Josh has struggled a bit recently but looked much better tonight and he is vital to our chances in the final. A massive thank you to Ben for riding through the pain barrier, he did great. Just wish Sky would have showed the semi finals over 2 nights and not on the same night. The delays between heats were tedious at times, and we ran over the curfew at Brum which is 10pm. They must have had permission to extend it this match, I hope so anyway!!! Good Luck Brummies in the final!! Oh and the Brummies website has crashed again!
