  1. I love Paco, its been great to see him doing well this season and proving people wrong who wrote him off before he rode for us. His passion and enthusiasm really makes him a popular rider with brummies fans and tbh there shouldnt even be a vote for rider of the year. He wins hands down. All in all a good effort from the brummies with such a patched up side, (again) thanks to Ty and Ulrich for their performances. Good Luck to Redcar, they have a good side with the changes they made.
  2. Its gonna be tough without a doubt, its frustrating that Morris and Aarnio are missing again. It makes us so much weaker not having Morris given he was scoring double figures just before he got injured. We need both back soon or the Brummies management need to decide whether to continue with a weaker side or look at short term replacements. August is a busy month and in an ideal world we need a full strength side. If we had a full side I think we would beat Redcar but its gonna be tough now although Ayres is a good guest. Is Ellis riding Wednesday?
  3. I was just amazed we got near to 30 points so all in all I cant fault any Brummies rider last night. Im not sure why Paco is apologising for last night, he doesnt need to as hes had a good season and a real fans favourite at Perry Barr. There are other people that should come out and explain the circumstances as to why that team went to Glasgow last night.
  4. If Adam had this booked before joining the Brummies then fair enough as you say but the club should have looked at all his commitments prior to signing him. Its really poor to just come out with 'personal reasons' which was stated prior to him racing for Swindon last night, wouldnt he have missed that meeting for personal reasons aswell!! Its clearly in my eyes the club did not realise he was missing tonight until recently and are trying to cover their backs. I hate to be constantly negative about the club but situations like this are poor. Im sure all the Brummies riders tonight will try their best, but its so disappointing for the sport that a meeting like this is taking place. What about any Brummies fans that have spent alot of money, maybe hundreds on travel, hotels and then look at side we are taking there. What about the Glasgow fans that are spending £20 plus on admission/programme, food/drink etc to see what is going to be a heavily one sided match. Its not good.
  5. I'm delighted to see Danyon Hume back in Brummies colours, hes played such an important part in our NL seasons and hes an out and out trier. I think he can do a good job in the championship, hes shown that already when he rode for Ipswich. Im not sure about the Agertoft signing if im honest. I think its a massive gamble considering already this season the signing of Thomsen didnt work. At P+P day Agertoft did impress me and looked better than Thomsen so we will see if can look as fast in meetings. At least now we have strong reserves in Ashley Morris and Danyon Hume so theres always the option of using them more if he finds it tough. Good luck to him and I hope he does do well.
  6. I should hope so Steve, shame us fans dont know anything yet.
  7. Given its less than 24 hours to this meeting, its all very quiet on the Brummies Social media and nothing on the website. I wouldn't be surprised if we pull out, we cant field 4 riders and obviously there's very limited guest options that wouldnt make us weaker.
  8. That tonight for me was one of the most enjoyable meetings ive seen at Perry Barr in some time, absolutely fair to both teams for entertainment that was served up. Its easy for people to just not bother coming when they see half a Brummies side but really you missed a really good match and full commitment from our guest riders. The track was superb after all the rain we have had, in the past 9 days or so, so credit to the track staff, very quick race times proved that. Charles Wright showed why hes one of the best riders in the league and credit to him for his efforts, scored what Ellis would have. Connor Coles battled and did a solid job, 2 pts when hes a 2pt rider is job done. The performance from Broc Nichol was something else!, absolutely fully committed to an extent wheres hes bouncing off the fence in one race. A joy to watch and he for me he is the type of rider you pay £16.50 every week to watch. Shame he isnt a Brummies rider.. Considering Shanes had a big crash at the weekend as well, he more than did a good job. Its just a pity he cant gate well otherwise he would be a top rider at this level, he has the effort and speed. I don't think Castagna will be push over in the main body, not at home anyway. Its amazing we have Ashley Morris now at reserve (when fit) when you consider he beat Danny King and Kyle Howarth last match and his scores in recent meetings for us, strength in depth! Newcastle are not a bad side, a few of their riders such as Bjerre and Jorgensen didnt have a great night overall but Worrall and Weathers did. Clegg came alive after 2 poor rides but the Diamonds struggled at reserve. Safe journey to the fans that made the trip. Hope Rerun Productions/SpeedwayGB upload a few clips from this meeting preferably Heat 6 and/or Heat 12.
  9. The Travelodge hotel is literally just off the Aldridge Road on Tameside Way next to the Trust Ford Dealership. I stayed in this hotel when we had our bathroom done, it was fairly new when we stayed, just did the job. Theres parking at the hotel which is sheltered, so your car feels more secure. Must also say theres a cafe right next door called the Lodge cafe which has a good reputation locally ( 25 reviews of 4.6/5 on Google). As others have said its within walking distance of stadium, turn left at Wickes then a 10/15 min walk down a straight road you cant miss the stadium. Finally ive got to mention if you turn right as you come out of Tameside way/Aldridge Road and walk past Perry Park and the motorway bridge you have the Boars Head which does a World Food buffet, its superb the times ive been. Even the Brummies team went there after Press and Practice this season!
  10. Interview on BBC WM from David Mason and Ashley Morris https://audioboom.com/posts/7281187-speedway-brummies-promoter-mason-cheered-by-third-successive-home-win https://audioboom.com/posts/7281174-speedway-brummies-hero-morris-praises-team-s-character-after-sheffield-thriller
  11. Really pleased with result, I've got to say I thought it was gonna be one of them nights when we had the big crashes and Sheffield raced into a 27-21 at one stage. The incident with Kyle Howarth forgetting to come out in his gloves was extraordinary, not seen anything like that before. There wasn't much racing but that said generally this season its been pretty good but it was a good meeting overall. The match was swinging one way then the other, a couple a big crashes ( thankfully all riders okay), the incident with Howarth and generally a good atmosphere on the terraces also. Decent crowd which was pleasing, felt sorry for the management in recent weeks. They have listened to the fans, are changing the team, you cant fault them in that regard. Should be a good crowd next week. Ashley Morris was superb, I've been critical of him previously in the season but fair play he seems to have turned a corner in the last month. Paco once again scoring big points at reserve, definitely think he was great signing in the winter. Shanes gave everything and I felt sorry for him because the track wasn't as conducive to passing as other meetings. Ellis showed why he was such a good signing with a good night overall. Stoneman had that big crash in heat 2 which may have affected him but he had a brilliant meeting last week. Hopefully we can get a replacement for Zach, as was said in the programme they are speaking to riders but its a case of getting a rider we can afford. Good to see Danny King back, loved his time at the Brummies and hes generally one of my favourite riders in British Speedway. He had good back up in the form of Howarth and Broc Nichol and pretty much the other riders in the top 5. At reserve it was more of a struggle but I do think Mcdonald is a good signing for Sheffield and will score well there.
  12. Rider Replacement for Zach tomorrow according to Sheffield Site.
  13. I couldnt agree more, good to see a positive post about the management for a change.
  14. Ellis not riding in Denmark on Wednesday if you look at last post on the Grinsted Facebook page 10 hours ago. Translated from Danish:
  15. As of 01/06: Adam Ellis 7.92 Tero Aarnio 6.83 ( his last average for Newcastle 2018) James Shanes 5.06 Ashley Morris 4.98 Paco Castagna 4.00 Nathan Stoneman 2.00 7.21 left If we can sign a solid heat leader we have a decent side. I wish Zach all the very best, respect his decision and hope when he returns to speedway he can push on
  16. All credit to the management for making changes when its needed. Ive got to say I didnt expect them to be wielding the axe so soon and so much, I thought Graham Drury was back. Last season it felt like there were giving riders half a season before making a change. 2019 has been so different Its the right decision, I thank Ulrich for what he has done but his scores have not been good enough. The two previous signings of Adam Ellis and Nathan Stoneman have been very positive so hopefully Tero Aarnio can have a similar or better impact.
  17. I've been to Leicester a few times and the last time was the Coventry/Birmingham match last season when there was real problem with the 3rd/4th bend. There was a massive crash when Ayres hit a hole and it caused him to crash into the other riders. In that respect it seemed alot smoother last night but I thought there was little passing, a few decent heats when Leicester riders got ours, but it didnt help with the gulf of class between the two sides. Maybe when a side closely matched to Leicester ( if there is one) comes to BP there will be better racing.
  18. I decided to make the trip after work but regretted it from mid meeting on wards. We were woeful, only James Shanes are Ashley Morris could say they had a good meeting but it was comprehensive win for Leicester. All season we cant seem to gate and when your at a gaters track like Leicester then there's only gonna be one outcome regardless of how good the side your facing is. That's two poor meetings for Ostergaard in less than a week. He just isn't performing as what we hoped when we signed him. Hes only hit double figures on one occasion and whilst he wasn't a number 1 you would think riding at number 5 would ease the pressure. Leicester have a great top end but Ulrich was beaten from the tapes. He needs to improve in the coming meetings, maybe if no replacement is available we can re jig the riding order. Leicester are one of the best teams in the league, first time i've seen Ryan Douglas ride and what a cracking rider he is. With him, Nicholls and Worrall that's three number 1's certainly on form. I've always admired Connor Mountain in the NL and hes a great young rider, whenever I see him hes having good meetings. It doesn't matter who Ellis Perks is riding for, at whatever track, he always fills his boots when he rides against us. Hopefully Josh Bates is okay after his fall backwards off the bike. Only crumb of comfort I can take from last night is we shouldn't be the last team to be well beaten at Leicester this season.
  19. Yep especially as its the Championship Play Off final on Monday with 30k fans going down to Wembley also. Its a real shame for me to see the crowds we have had. It cant be helped with side that was built and the start to the season we had. However the management have acted and improved the side and I genuinely thought we would have had a decent crowd last night. Sadly theres one sport that rules and it seems when that season ends its only when others get a look in.
  20. All the very best to Josh Pickering, looked a bad one on the back straight. He really impressed me tonight, a real entertainer so its cruel that his night ended in this way. Obviously marred what was the first win for the Brummies. Its nice having a class rider like Adam Ellis at number 1 but ive got to say I was very impressed with Nathan Stoneman. Seen him a number of times in the National League and I know hes a good rider at that level but tonight he showed he was on the pace, even leading Heeps for a time in one race. Much better from Ashley Morris aswell, its the rider I thought we signed in the winter, looked more like a heat leader. Paco was exceptional, we will certaintly miss him at reserve when he eventually moves up. It was a good performance overall but more to come, Ulrich is better than that, wasnt a great night for him. I expected more from Ricky Wells, was really poor for a number 1. Heeps was impressive and once Pickering got dialled in he did well, wish him all the best. Sedgmen was very quick early on but I think his crash in Heat 8 affected him but good to see him back at PB.
  21. I think Adam is missing, I've seen the lineups on the Slangerup website and hes listed in the Grindsted line up. I noticed that Esbjerg are riding too which is Ostergaards team but hes not listed in the starting lineup.
  22. A real shame as I was looking forward to seeing our new signings in action but it was inevitable given how bad it was earlier this morning.
  23. Its a tricky one because both havent started the season well. Newman in some races has looked good, coming from back to win races but in others hes been well adrift. I like Kyle, hes gives 100 per cent and he has done this season, its just not worked out as his scores have not been good. Ashley has struggled, he was really good for Wolves against the Brummies and when I went to Somerset he was fast down there but of late a few low scores at home. When we signed him, I was happy because hes a rider that can progress to a heat leader role, he hasnt shown that so far but I think he can improve. The good thing about making changes is it should spur on the rest of the riders to improve because the mangament wont sit back.
  24. Hume I think is on about 3.7ish from his spell at Ipswich.
