Some encoraging news today, obviously we shouldnt count our chickens but feeling much more optimistic now. From the Birmingham Mail Tony Mole , the man leading a business plan to bring speedway back to Birmingham, insists hopes are still high the Brummies will be back on track next March. Mole has stepped in to purchase track equipment from the administrators handling the sale following the collapse of the Alan and Charles Phillips promotion, which saw the club fold in July. Now he has a series of meetings planned over the next few days to establish interest from potential investors to form a consortium. And he says stadium landlords, the GRA, remain keen to see the sport return to Perry Barr – despite being left with unpaid rent twice in five seasons. “It’s better than 50/50 at this stage, I’m cautiously optimistic,” said Mole. “I don’t want to build up people’s hopes too much, but I am hoping to be able to make a presentation to the management committee of the British Speedway Promoters’ Association in the near future. “I have a series of meetings still in the pipeline and I am very much hoping these will help us reach our target to enable us to apply for membership to one of the senior leagues. “All this is subject to things falling into place when it comes to the financial structure of the club. “Once that is in order we can press the green light, I will not press ahead without the confidence we can ensure it is a viable business.” Mole says he is pleased to maintain a good relationship with the GRA at Perry Barr – and they are keen to see the sport back there in 2015. He said: “I’m very pleased they still want the sport because they could have turned their back on it after they have been let down in the past. They are comfortable dealing with me, they know our financial agreements will be honoured and we have a good relationship. “What level of the sport we would be looking at remains to be seen, I cannot say for certain at this stage so we will just have to see how things work out.”

Letter In This Weeks Speedway Star
Brummie Kev replied to topaz325's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
One of the best letters Ive read in the Speedway Star, couldnt disagree with anything he wrote. Just wonder whether the promotors read and took on board his points because thats what most fans think. -

Signed. All the best with efforts to save Brandon, would be very sad for the sport if we were to lose a stadium like that -
Cradley V Birmingham Ch 7/10/14
Brummie Kev replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
Wish I could go tonight but sadly cant get the time off work. Good Luck to the Brummies, hope we give them a run for their money! -
I guess its a good job the main grandstand is a listed building and the land is protected given the Council is in the process of selling off many of its assets. They of course have a massive legal bill (£1.1Billion) to due with the Gender equality ruling not ruling in their favour a few months back. They have put the NEC group up for sale and it could be sold by the end of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did anyone read the the Mercury on Sunday, there was a bit about Phil Morris and didnt rule out a return to the Brummies should we return. Would love to have him back on board.

I would take anything to be honest with you, the last few months have been hell. When you love going to speedway every single week without fail , its hard to stop going just like that. Its amazing how much you miss it when its gone, alot fans criticise their own clubs for various reasons but at least they have a team to support. I just hope Tony's had a good response regarding the meeting to be held next wedensday. We have to remember whilst Tony is aiming to bring the Brummies back, he's in semi- retirement and cant run it alone so its for others in this proposed consortium to run the club. My main preference is for the Brummies to be in the Premier League with Cradley moving up so we have a good local derby and big crowds. We have a number of PL standard rider assets ( should we get them back from the BSPA). King, Covatti, L Lindgren, Rusty Harrison and whilst Barker is a Cov asset he I would imagine be very much in the plans. So the basis of a solid side Just have everything crossed that we get some positive news next week

A Toast To Daniel Nermark
Brummie Kev replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
All the best to Daniel, could never fault his commitment when he rode for the Brummies. I thought he was poor signing this year tbh but he proved everyone wrong and he was our best rider before we folded. -
Hope hes in a Brummies PL side next year, if all goes well!

I also remember reading somewhere that there were people complaining that having speedway was increasing the amount of litter in the area. This is Perry Barr for godsake, hardly the cleanest of areas. Also when they were doing noise tests for the new silencer, the guy doing the tests in the back garden of one the nimbys properties phoned the stadium to let them know when they were starting, only to be told the meeting had started and they were on heat 3. that more or less sealed the deal for full planning permission.

Good to see some positive news must admit I was starting to lose faith given how little theres been over recent weeks. It was stated when it all went t*ts up that Tony was going to call a meeting in August and I wondered what happened. I am really pleased that Tony has set the date with the potential investors, hopefully theres a few of them interested. Tony is a legend at Brum and theres nobody you would trust at running a speedway club more than him. I really think a consortium owned club is the way forward with people who have backed the Brummies so well in the past. The guy from BRC Roofing I hope is contacted, enjoy reading his posts on Brummies forum and would be a great person to have on board. Also would be great to have a place around the table for the supporters club who have done sterling work over the past few months, I think Tony did indicate something like that may happen. Early days I know but I hope we can rise from the Ashes and return to the sport, preferably at PL level next year.

The Difference In Attendances At Tracks
Brummie Kev replied to mdmc82's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Brummies have not had consistently good crowds since 2007 and we should never have moved up in the first place. Just hope we have the chance of reopening in the Pl next year and have not lost the sport for good in Birmingham -
Just got back to hotel, atmosphere amazing as usual, crowd looked decent The announcer said 50,000 before the meeting started, dont think it was that big but over 40, 000 imo. Well done Greg, gutted Woffy didnt win it. Racing I thought was poor but really I enjoyed the occasion and a popular winner. Just one thing, anyone see that Blue Flare land on the track at the end. I was third bend, middle tier and it wasnt thrown from my area. Was it shown on tv?

Tai, Bomber and Cook will be 3 of the 4 but a bit unsure on the last place. King tends to go missing in the big meetings (EL Grand Final, British Final), think Barker would be a better option as he tends to raise his game but can he and Cook be in the same team together. Might have to be Richie Worrall for the last spot.

Why cant it be rerun tomorrow, oh yeah its because we dont want upset the Polish. Nice to see the toothless FIM have got their proirities right. Call this off NOW, rearrange it for tomorrow and if the PZM arnt happy tell them to remove their riders from this meeting. Rder safety is the most important thing in the sport. -
If there's anyone out there that can build you that stadium. it's Tony Mole. He defied all the odds to get speedway back at Birmingham and to secure full planning permission. Good Luck, hope he succeeds for you!

Swedish Elitserien 2014 Round 4
Brummie Kev replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Just watched the highlights on Eurosport, what was their reason for totally missing out heats 3 and 4 then Heats 11 and 12. Shambles!! Track looked woeful in the heats I saw, is there a water shortage in Vetlanda as that track looked so dry and dusty.
