  1. I can understand people saying we lack strength in depth bearing in mind Zach, Alex and Harvie are new to league but why don't you give them a chance. Its a bit harsh in my opinion to make a judgment on them before a wheel has been turned. About a year a go I saw a very poor side being built that everyone including most brummies fans would say bottom of the league without doubt. Its a different league but honestly I think Phil Morris has done a good job. We shall see maybe your all right and wooden spoon for us but I'm just glad we have a side back wouldn't want to wish what happen to us on anyone.
  2. I do hope we enter a team, I'd imagine meetings would take place after the NL meetings
  3. Speedwayresults.com is saying he was born 26/5/1998, without looking elsewhere I bet its meant to say 88 instead on 98.
  4. Really happy the signing of Sam Chapman has been confirmed, think its a great signing . Last season was his first in the National League and to improve his average the way he did in what a team getting slaughtered home and away was a great effort. He's still only 16 and I think there's alot more to come from him. I see no reason why he cant put 2 pts on his average as he was beating good nl riders towards the end of last season. The team is good, Wizzer has done a great job as caretaker manager. We have a strong top 2 in Ellis and Perry and in Chapman a good third heatleader to back them up. Any success will depend on how the new lads do but Wajtknecht has shown his talent on a motorcycle in other forms of the sport. Alex Wilson is beating established NL riders in the current winter series and hes starting on a 3pt average. A little less is known about Harvie as hes mainly just done Motocross but we have seen riders come from that and make big impacts in the sport. At least he should be able to gate! So looking forward to March with Optimism, hope the last signing is a good one and people come out in numbers to support the team. We cant complain about the side being built unlike 12 months ago.
  5. Would be an excellent signing if true, think he could add a couple of points on his start average.
  6. He's also the son of ex Hackney rider Trevor Banks and made an appearance for Devon last year. Welcome to Perry Barr Harvie!
  7. Welcome to Perry Barr Tom Pretty pleased with this signing, in Ellis and Perry we have a strong top two. I think it's great to see, it's not something we ever said when we're Elite League. We didn't even have a recognised number 1 in that league last year. What a difference 12 months make, dreaded last season as I thought we were in the Elite to just make up the numbers. Now I'm really looking forward to March as it's been a good start to team building. Was hoping we would get Perks but Wajtknecht has an impressive record already at such a young age. I'm sure he can impress in his first season in the national league.
  8. WOW!! Fantastic Signing, got to give Tony all the credit for pulling it as for me its a real statement of intent. Hes not only our number 1 but he might be the league number 1 as hes a great talent. I saw Ellis ride at Perry Barr last season in the EL for Lakeside and he scored 10pts then and he more or less averaged 5 in the EL last year. Makes you wonder just what he will do in the NL next year, if hes on 9.34 then I wouldnt against him sticking a point or so on that. Welcome to the Brummies Adam!
  9. From Twitter: Birmingham Speedway ‏@BrumSpeedway 39m39 minutes ago WE are delighted to confirm our first signing for 2015 will be announced HERE at 9pm tonight - stay tuned!! #brummiesareback #speedway
  10. First signing could be announced later today according to the Brummies twitter feed. Tony Mole in the Mail said its our number 1 and hes ridden for the club in the past. Simon Lambert or Chris Mills? Also Jack Lee wont be coming back next season but Tony hopes to appoint someone before Christmas, been said the other day that Phil Morris is helping out until we appoint someone.
  11. Pretty Pleased with the AGM, nice of them to accept us into the league . The points limit is about what I expected given the additions to the league and I think scrapping of the play-offs to decide the champions is fantastic. We had it at the Brummies in 2012, great season finished top of the league but lost in the play-offs to Poole. It was a disgrace we never got any recognition for finishing top, at least now we are in a league that has the table toppers as champions, and still a play-off system in place for an addition competition for the 2nd/3rd/4th place teams. I just wish they would tweek the race format a bit and include another reserve race as I feel it would work in the NL. Many of the riders at reserve are fairly new to the sport and it would be beneficial to them get get a second race against riders of similar calibre. Lets hope the EL and PL follow in the NL footsteps by scrapping the play-offs to decide the champions next year
  12. Nathan Greaves (7.12) back at Cradley http://www.speedwaygb.co/news.php?extend.27944
  13. Really pleased for Phil, was really hoping he would be involved with the Brummies this year but this is a great opportunity for him.
  14. Prices have been announced for next season: Season Tickets (based on 12 league matches, cups and playoffs included) Adult £120 Seniors £100 Child £20 General Admission Adult £12 Seniors £10 Children (6-16) £2 Children 5 or under FREE Programme £2 David Rowe has been confirmed as the announcer again and programme editor but we have a new centre green presenter, Ryan Guest. Good Luck to him, I wish our previous presenter Chris Simpson all the best. Think he did it from around 2008 to 2014 and he did a great job.
  15. I am really looking forward to next season , it doesn't bother me that we are starting in the lowest league possible from a position where we were Elite League runners up just the other season. I am just glad we have a club to support given the events of the past 6 months. The Brummies in the National League is in my opinion a blessing in disguise. Look at the crowds we have been getting the past few seasons, our crowds last season before it went belly up were of NL level. The problem was during the previous winter the team built was clearly well below par, it was the first time in 7 years I was dreading the season and it was terrible from start to when it finished. So Its no wonder that we struggled to get a good EL crowd. I would put our average crowd level at about 600, that maybe too high or low but for sure it wasn't in 1200-1500 bracket that you hear EL sides need. If we got that in the NL, would that be so bad? I actually think we can aim for crowds higher than that. The whole arrangement with Cradley sharing the stadium is fantastic, it means we wont race every week unlike past times in the PL and EL and of course the price maybe reduced to £11-£12. So people would only be paying £23-£24 a month Adult compared to say £45 minimum for 3 EL meetings a month last year. Thats a big difference!! We still have derby matches against Cradley and Cov Storm which should draw the crowds in as well. If its promoted in the local area just as good as when Bratley and McLaughlin were here then why cant we get 1000 people in. John Smith in the street who knows little about speedway wont be able tell the difference from Kildemand, Ward, Zagar to S Lambert, Luke Chessell, Tim Webster etc. Its 4 riders, 4 laps, no brakes and plenty of action whether its Elite or National League. We may be in a different league but I really hope we have a competitive side to challenge for the title. Its CRUCIAL, as last year showed its hard to draw people in to a losing team written off before a wheel is turned and is destined for the Wooden Spoon. Lets hope that isnt the case this year, Im sure it wont. So its a new start and Tony is right to say we have to start at the bottom. I don't know what his top is but for me its never the Elite League. I hope we never go back!. Its clear that we struggled to get the crowds right from the start and despite the many mistakes the last promotion made, the fact is we didn't support it enough to make it viable despite finishing runners up in 2013. We need as Tony has said, to be able to stand on our own two feet. NL is our best and only option currently available to us and I thank Tony Mole for giving fans their team back UP THE BRUMMIES
  16. Great News for both clubs, thank you Tony Mole. An expanded NL will be great for the sport .Looking forward to it!!
  17. This is the best possible news for both clubs. We have been through so much turmoil the past 6 months, honestly thought at times Speedway was finished in Brum. Some may have preferred EL or PL but NL could be a great league for the Brummies. Some new tracks to visit like Buxton and Kent so looking forward to it. Thank you Tony Mole, any chance of getting Phil Morris back. Works well with the younger riders Just want to add Im pleased Cradley have been saved aswell. The local derbies should be good, will be wierd to see us wearing white and yellow helmet colours at Perry Barr!!
  18. Cradley's best chance of a stadium in the Dudley area is to probably include a super mosque in the plans.
  19. What a mess Midlands Speedway is in Brummies Gone Cradley 50/50 for next year but still no sign of a stadium Coventry future looking bleak with Brandon up for development
  20. Great post, couldnt agree more. I wonder why more questions werent asked at the end of the 2013 season. I mean we finish runners up and Phillips is still losing tens of thousands of pounds and nothing is done about it. I personally think questions should have been asked about his suitability as a owner then and whether we as a club we should have been allowed to stay in the EL. Tony Mole at the time was willing to buy the club back. If all what happened in June had happened after the 2013 season, I feel we would still be going. The problem we had closing mid season is we have lost our sponsors. They seemingly want to rinse their hands of speedway after the way they were treated to be honest who can blame them. Sponsorship is crucial to any Birmingham team coming back as we didnt have great crowds. So without them its a no go I know when it all went wrong in June, the bspa did try and keep the club open but it was after the horse had bolted. Too late sadly
  21. Me too!!!, I still got faint hopes I might see a Brummies team next year.
  22. If there is ZERO chance of the Brummies racing even in the NL next year, I wouldnt object to Cradley riding at Perry Barr. The worst case for me would be Perry Barr Stadium lying empty. It would much harder to see the Brummies back if its empty as things could change, the track could be grassed over etc.... I wonder what the Council would say, might be an obstacle for Cradley as Im not sure they would allow a team from an area outside their jurisdiction racing in a stadium they own. May have to be a joint team. My wish is for a Brummies and Cradley team in the Nl sharing the stadium.
  23. I am gutted, speedway has been my life for the last 7 years. Before the Brummies opened in 2007 I hardly had an idea of what speedway was, my dad went in 70s and 80s and that was how I was tempted along to the opening meeting in 2007. I loved the first meeting ( the Alan Hunt memorial) , the smell and the noise had me hooked straight away. Every week I looked forward to my weekly speedway fix even if it had been a crappy week at work, the thought of going down Perry Barr was what got me through. Now what do I do. I just hope no other fan of any other club has to see their club close down the way ours has. We topped the highest league the sport offers last year and we are now defunct, it really is a bitter pill to swallow.
